25.01.2022 I just love the crazy things my students come up with In yesterdays lessons, Charlie and Indi decided that Cricket and Zena should get married. They came up with a very elaborate plan that involved making Cricket wear flowers so Zena would be impressed when he walked past Do you think theyd make a good couple?
25.01.2022 Well now...this changes everything
25.01.2022 This I still remember those special school horses that taught me to ride! Abigail, Angel, Magnum. There are some horses you just never forget. This is why I like to make sure my students say thank you to their horse after they ride
25.01.2022 In alignment with the Greater Brisbane lockdown; if you or anyone you have been in contact with have been in any of the warning areas on or since January 2nd, I ask that you please do not come to your lesson. Thank you for working together to keep Queensland safe!
24.01.2022 What a lovely gift from one of my awesome Tiny Tots today Thank you so much Eloise!
24.01.2022 Good news!! In an effort to make things easier and safer for all of my beautiful students, I am now accepting card payments! Especially in the countrys current situation, I think being able to provide contactless payments is very important. We are blessed to be living in wonderful Queensland where we are doing a great job to slow the spread of COVID-19, and hopefully this is just another step to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved ... I will still accept cash payments, but it will be preferred if you can make payment by card
24.01.2022 How to effectively use a pram when you have a toddler Always grateful to have my 2IC help me after a big day of lessons! I will give a $25 gift voucher to be redeemed for lessons to anyone who can correctly guess the exact gear in this pram
23.01.2022 Finishing a busy weekend of lessons by giving snuggles to one of our beautiful new goats that arrived yesterday - our Sunday lessons were lucky enough to meet these girls before anyone else! Besides our amazing horses that work so hard for us here, we have an abundance of other animals that the students all love to visit. If youve visited our little farm - whos your favourite critter? If youve taken photos of some of our crazy farm animals, Id love to see them in the comments!
23.01.2022 Its little things like this that make me love my job a million times over. While I love training horses, teaching the next generation of horse people is my jam. You see, Im so much more than a riding instructor. Im an outlet for everything my students have been holding in through the day, or week, or even month. I get a little glimpse into their world for the short twenty minutes, thirty minutes, or if Im lucky even an hour. I get to know things, and for that I am so grat...eful. I know all about Snowy the guineapig and his cheeky nature and grand adventures. I know how much it hurts when youre five years old and your boyfriend at school gets married to TWO other girls! I know how unfair it is when the opposing soccer team wins even though they touched the ball first and their goals shouldnt have counted. I know all the life stages of the caterpillar because thats what youre learning about at school. I know you love playing Spyro and it blows your mind that I used to play Spyro too. I know youre a little shy but your anxiety disappears just a little when you ride a horse. I know your office job is draining, and riding through the paddocks is what sets your soul back on fire. I am forever grateful for the little peek into your lives that I get. I am blessed that I am a safe place to let go of your worries. I am grateful that I can offer you my horses mane to let your tears fall into, or their soft breath to blow away your fears. I treasure every story you share with me, every laugh you give me, every secret I get to hear. The wild, crazy, made up stories and the little moments that make my heart burst with pride. Thank you, for choosing me to teach you, and for all of the things you continue to teach me

20.01.2022 Our beautiful Zena Such a fabulous mare for teaching people about horsemanship! She is slow and steady for those who need it, sensitive and responsive for those who know how to encourage it, and has just the right amount of spunk to always keep it interesting We adore our gorgeous girl Who else loves them some Zena?!
19.01.2022 What wild weather! We managed to get in almost a whole day of lessons today, and thankfully the rain held off. Towards the afternoon we watched the storms rolled in, and had to end our lessons there and put off the rest of the day! We are long overdue for some rain This serves as a good chance to remind everyone of our policy in wet weather. Light showers are fine and I am happy to continue teaching if students are willing. Heavy downpours are a bit too risky to continue t...eaching as the ground gets too slippery for the horses, and thunder and lightning will 100% cause me to postpone. I know we all get a little disappointed when the weather ruins our chance to ride - especially for the young ones. I wish I could control the weather! Safety for my horses and my students has to come first so I’m grateful for the understanding we received today when I had to make the call to end our lessons early. Enjoy the rainy weekend we have forecast!
19.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the weather, todays lessons will be postponed. Will keep everyone posted for tomorrows lessons, fingers crossed for some sun!
19.01.2022 The next generation of horse people
19.01.2022 Look at that grin! Nelly has been working SO hard in her lessons, learning her rising trot and coming so far in the short time shes been riding with me. Shes been dying to learn how to jump and in her lesson on Saturday she had her first pop over a little cross rail - I think the face says it all! So proud of you Nelly - superstar!
18.01.2022 Hi everyone, and happy 2021!! I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and are enjoying the New Year so far! I wanted to say a quick thank you to you all for the support you’ve shown me over the last year - it was a crazy year for everyone! I am blessed that so many of you chose to seek solace in horses and grateful to have met so many new faces over the year.... I am looking forward to welcoming you all back for 2021! Over the next week or so I will be getting in touch with everyone to start confirming lesson times for the coming school term. If you know that your usual time spot needs to change, please send me a message sooner rather than later so we can find somewhere else to pop you in! This year I will be teaching Mon-Sat 7:30-5:30. Over summer we will be finishing lessons at 12pm and not resuming again until 3:00pm to give the horses (and you...and me!) a break in the heat. We also will not be teaching if the temperature is 35*C or higher Joel and I are also thrilled to announce that we are welcoming another future horse lover to the family in July 2021 - many of you have been very patient with me wrangling my toddler in some of your lessons, many of you have entertained her for me while I taught and many of you have probably had her tell you to walk on or trot on I ask that you extend the same patience over my pregnancy - I have every intention to continue teaching as normal but it will very much depend on how we go day to day! Thank you all once again for making 2020 one of the brightest years of my business, when it very easily could have gone the opposite way. You are all a second family to me and I am so proud of all you’ve accomplished! Bring on 2021 and all it has to throw at us Ely, Joel & Sienna (and baby number 2!) (PS: how beautiful is this photo of Sienna and Zena, taken by Little Lady Pics )
18.01.2022 Everyone’s favourite cheeky boy, Spirit is all ready for this morning’s lessons. I first met Spirit back in 2016, when I first had moved to Queensland from the Northern Territory. Spirit, along with two other Dartmoor ponies, were some of my first client horses down here. I started Spirit under saddle and he went home to be a kid’s pony for his owner’s children, along with Angel who was later sold on as well. A couple years later I had the great fortune of purchasing Spirit a...s my own daughter’s pony - and many of my students also get to enjoy his quirky attitude in their lessons Spirit is a sweet, sensitive boy. He’s cheeky and has a bit of spunk, but has a huge heart and will try anything his little riders ask of him. We are very lucky to have this beautiful boy in our herd Have a look in the comments for a photo of me riding Spirit when I was first starting him under saddle in 2016! I think he enjoys the shorter legs of his students these days
18.01.2022 How beautiful is the partnership between Pip and her owner Mandy! These two have worked SO hard in their lessons. When I first met them, Pip was always fidgeting and not really paying attention to Mandy and her cues. Now they are super tuned in to each other!
16.01.2022 A beautiful end to a busy week! Thank you to all my awesome students for being such superstars Looking forward to a big day tomorrow! Just another reminder that lessons on Sunday (Fathers Day) are not going ahead. If you havent already contacted me to arrange a make up session please do so! ... Enjoy your weekend everyone!
16.01.2022 What an incredible Saturday! So many moments I am so proud of for my students. Even though it was a stinking hot day, we beat the heat and smashed some goals. Jennie and Banjo started my day in the best way possible - and finally nailed a correct canter departure on Banjo’s sticky left lead! Woohoo! Well worth the 7am start.... Zoya was totally incredible and nailed her first canter like a PRO! Way to go girl! Summer was a rockstar and even though she had to ride a different horse instead of her beloved Spirit (even fat little ponies need a break once in a while!) she took to the challenge like always and smashed it. Macie was a real cowgirl and as we came back from her trail ride she had her first bolt - namely, horse wants to get back to the roundyard and finish his lesson so he trotted most of the way home. I have never seen a six year old hang on so well - she pulled him up at the end and wasn’t even scared, she was totally (and rightfully so!) proud of herself. Macie you’re a legend and I’m sorry my naughty horse did that to you Archie also nailed his first canter today, his brother Frankie smashed his rising trot, and sister Evie started letting go of the saddle in the trot for the first time. This trio make me smile so much with how hard they work and how far they’ve come! And finally Tilly - who is always a little bit no I can’t do that! Not only did she also smash cantering, but she even said yes! and offered to do more without once saying the words I can’t do it. She nailed her rising trot diagonals, got some awesome canters, and had the best attitude - all while riding with a dislocated toe! You all are total rockstars. Thank you for making my Saturday amazing despite how stinking hot it was. So so proud of you legends and you are ALL my Student Spotlight this week!!
15.01.2022 How gorgeous is everyone’s favourite school horse Zena in her new halter! I can’t wait to deck out the whole herd in their very own custom halters. A big thanks to Sign Ur Neigh'm Monogrammed for her amazing work - love supporting fellow equine businesses, especially when they also have neigh puns
15.01.2022 I think weve all been there If this is you and your horse, never fear! I also do home visits to help you with your horsemanship - in the comfort of your own property! If you need some help with your horse whether it be on the ground or under saddle, book a lesson and I can come to you.
15.01.2022 Everyones favourite cheeky boy, Spirit is all ready for this mornings lessons. I first met Spirit back in 2016, when I first had moved to Queensland from the Northern Territory. 13.01.2022 If you have lessons with me, chances are youve heard me say that I never advertise my sessions as riding lessons. To me, there is so much more to horsemanship than just riding, and its so important to me to teach that to my students! We work on all sorts of things - from general horse handling, to building our relationship with our horse on the ground, and that translates to developing confidence and skills under saddle.... Fine tuning our cues and timing on the ground first allows our horse to see us as a confident and effective leader and partner. Tarah has been riding with me for a little while now - she makes the drive all the way from Brisbane! Here she is working with our beautiful Zena first on the ground, which builds their confidence and trust in each other and leads to a fun ride!
13.01.2022 Moose and I had a fabulous weekend away at Gootchie Creek Escape! Not a lot will get me to take a weekend off from my amazing students, but camping with my horse and a great group of likeminded horsewomen is one of the things I just can’t turn down What a beautiful property and some excellent training opportunities for our horses. Countless times I hear people say to me Oh, I just do a bit of trail riding. There is certainly no just about it! Exposing your horse to diff...erent environments, terrains and obstacles is one of the best things you can do for their training and confidence. It takes a lot of work and many hours to make a great trail horse! We worked on issues like going up and down steep hills, stepping over obstacles, leading and following, and being confident away from the group. Many horses struggle with riding in groups for various reasons, so it was a wonderful chance to work on some different issues with different horses. Of course, there was a lot of fun had too, not just training Thank you to my wonderful weekend students for letting me take a little break - looking forward to seeing you all this week! And a big thanks to my wonderful group of friends, the SEQ Downunder Wranglers for yet another brilliant trip away with the horses
12.01.2022 a bit of a different perspective!
12.01.2022 Just a note that there will be no lessons over the weekend of Saturday 17th October and Sunday 18th October. I am headed off for a much needed weekend away camping with mr Moose! I will be contacting all my regular weekend students individually as well to let you know ...
11.01.2022 Monday Morning Motivation Mine’s coffee...what’s yours?
10.01.2022 It’s raaaaining, it’s poooouring Unfortunately this means that my wonderful Saturday lessons will be postponed today. I will contact you all individually too to arrange a makeup lesson. Maybe I should become a swimming instructor ... Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe and dry!
09.01.2022 Happy Sunday! Zena and Cookie are enjoying their breakfast before a busy day of lessons. Looking forward to seeing my beautiful Sunday students!
09.01.2022 Caption this photo Cookie and Zena are ready for action - busy weekend of lessons coming up! What a way to spend the horses birthday
08.01.2022 Happy Monday! What a beautiful way to start our week. Looking forward to seeing all my beautiful Monday students today - including a couple of new faces. Have a great week everyone!
08.01.2022 Here’s a little throwback on a Tuesday morning. This photo was taken 7 years ago today - back when I was a university student studying Equine Science at CSU in Wagga Wagga, NSW. This mare was my first horse - a spritely Thoroughbred named Magic. She was spooky, pushy, sometimes aggressive and I was totally out of my league with her. I’d been riding horses since I was 7 years old but had never had to train one before! Magic made me step out of my comfort zone and expand my kn...owledge of horsemanship. She pushed me, challenged me, and made me grow into the horsewoman I am today. If it wasn’t for this little mare, I wouldn’t be here doing what I’m doing right now. Who knows where my journey would have taken me! Magic sadly passed away from colic in July 2015 - sometimes it’s hard to believe it’s been 5 years without her. She taught me so much and definitely set a fire to my passion for horsemanship. I owe everything I am today to this mare and her big heart - her nickname was Monster but by the time she passed, she was anything but. Sometimes I do wonder where we could have gone together had she still been alive today. Do you have a special horse that triggered your love for horsemanship? I would love for you to comment your stories
08.01.2022 PARKING Hi everyone! When you arrive for your lessons from now on, could you please park on the grassed area by the cattle yards, in front of the fence. From now on the gate at the end of the driveway will be shut and no vehicles allowed past this point.... This will keep everything a bit safer for the animals and small children we have around! Thank you! Ely & team (just kidding - its only me! )
08.01.2022 Am I right or am I right?
07.01.2022 Guilty I know a few of my students do this too and it always makes me giggle
07.01.2022 Hi everyone! Could we please ask that as you arrive for your lessons, your drive nice and slow and keep your eyes out for these guys! Our beautiful geese have hatched their gorgeous goslings and are proudly marching them around the farm. This includes the parking area so just keep an eye out for them when arriving and leaving Thank you!
07.01.2022 Ah, Spring time. Where we spend hours grooming our horses and it rains hair for weeks Anyone else have shedding hairy beasts at the moment?
06.01.2022 Can anyone guess what were doing in todays lessons?
05.01.2022 How gorgeous is everyones favourite school horse Zena in her new halter! I cant wait to deck out the whole herd in their very own custom halters. A big thanks to Sign Ur Neigh'm Monogrammed for her amazing work - love supporting fellow equine businesses, especially when they also have neigh puns
05.01.2022 Ooooh...thats the spot! Our Moose man thoroughly enjoyed his massage this morning by Sheree at Simply Massage! Just like humans, horses get tight muscles and end up sore too. Its important that we make sure our horses are feeling their best, both physically and mentally, when were asking them to work. ... I am really looking forward to having Sheree take care of our wonderful lesson horses and any horses that come in for training Lessons may have been postponed today due to the weather, but I dont think Moose minded too much I will leave a link to Sherees page in the comments - she treats people too
04.01.2022 I know I already shared a photo of the sunrise this morning...but the sunset was too beautiful to keep to myself! Thank you to my wonderful Monday students for making today every bit as glorious as the sun was today!
01.01.2022 What a day! Besides my usual amazing Friday students, I also had the pleasure of working with this dynamic duo - Crackers and Pirate! Pirate is a little mini who is blind in one eye, and a bit of a nervous nelly. We took both boys for a walk around the neighbourhood to see how Pirate would react to the scary big world. He was a little superstar! Its always a good day when I get to end it teaching my superstar students; special shoutouts to Zoya who mastered her rising trot... today in just her third lesson! Chelsea who cantered first the first time and totally rocked it! And Lucy who is learning to trot without holding onto the saddle. You guys are amazing! Also, how cute is little Polly who tags along to watch the girls ride If anyone is wondering; yes dogs are more than welcome - as long as they are on a lead as we have lots of animals and children around. If theyre as cute as young Polly, I BEG you to bring them See more
