22.01.2022 We have previously posted photos of the launching of the 'Oceanus' at Emu Park in the 1960's. This is the first pic I have seen of her in the water for the first time. Built by Ron McDougal up on the hill at Emu Park. Many people believed he wouldn't get it down the hill to Fisherman's Beach safely. Thanks to Laurel Edmistone for this great pic from her mum Dell's family album. Later she was renamed the 'Australiana' and was a Swains charter boat.

22.01.2022 Leigh Flanders recently posted to the Old Australian Prawn Trawler FB site, these two 1981 pics of a local Yeppoon trawler 'Blue Seas' at that time skippered by his older brother Jack. That's a great sorting tray full of banana prawns caught off Pearl Bay.

19.01.2022 The 'Sea King' formerly of Figtree Ck , now residing in the Fitzroy River at Rockhampton. Shown here at the Fitzroy Motor Boat Club Slipway in Quay St. Did Dennis Benussi have this boat in the creek?

18.01.2022 Early Rosslyn Bay Harbour probably late 1975 before Cyclone David did significant damage with 8 m swells in January 1976. This great photo from a recent FB post by Scott MacLean. His dad's trawler 'Brooklyn' is on the right side of the wharf centre.

15.01.2022 The vessel that was in difficulty yesterday in Figtree Ck has been rescued. Thank you to those YIA members and others who pitched in to help the owner.

14.01.2022 Capricorn Coast Outrigger Canoe Club who do such fantastic work had a 'come and try' day for new members at the Figtree Markets last weekend. Lots of interest and everyone enjoyed paddling in the inlet.

14.01.2022 Jason Miller just posted to Yeppoon Families FB site this beaut pic of a storm approaching Yeppoon main beach this afternoon.

12.01.2022 These trawler jetties at Shorncliffe Qld this week give a bit of an insight for our jetty owner members into how approved jetties have been constructed elsewhere in Qld. (Photos by Paul Aquilina - Old Australian Trawlers FB page)

12.01.2022 Here's a very old aerial pic of Wreck Point, Cooee Bay and the mouth of the creek before there was much in the way of houses or roads there. (Pic recently posted to the Rockhampton Remember When FB site.)

12.01.2022 Good to see the young generation off their computer screens and fishing in Ross Ck. These kids fish with soft plastic lures and release most fish they catch. Today they caught a couple of 60 cm flathead which went back.

08.01.2022 The YIA Management Group is continuing to work towards securing formal Trustee Lease agreements with Livingstone Shire and the State Government for jetty owners. Currently, the draft lease agreement is undergoing independent legal scrutiny. We are noticing a few 'for sale' signs on jetties. Could jetty owners intending to sell at this time please ensure that all interested buyers are aware of the processes underway and the likely future obligations of jetty owners.

05.01.2022 These old beach erosion pics from about 75 years ago on the Yeppoon beachfront in front of the Strand. King tides and heavy weather washed away the sand dunes near the merry go round and big slippery slide before the rock walls were built. (These pics from a recent post to the Rockhampton Pioneer's FB page)

04.01.2022 Jetty members meeting regarding the lease agreement on Wednesday 12 May at 7 pm. Please check your email for further information and documents.

03.01.2022 Here are a couple of more Shorncliffe jetty shots by Paul Aquilina (Old Australian Trawlers FB group) .Down there they mostly seem to be having two Trawlers parked back to back using a single walkway from the bank and then a forward snubbing post.
