23.01.2022 BOWEL CANCER AWARENESS MONTH When detected in the earliest stages, almost 99 percent of bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated. Do you know the symptoms of bowel cancer?... Blood in your poo or rectal bleeding A recent, persistent change in bowel habit (e.g. diarrhoea, constipation or the feeling or incomplete emptying) A change in the shape or appearance of your poo (e.g. narrower poos or mucus in poo) Abdominal pain or swelling Pain or a lump in the anus or rectum Unexplained anaemia causing tiredness, weakness or weight loss During the early stages of bowel cancer, people may have no symptoms, which is why screening is so important. Be sure you and your loved ones know what to look out for this Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. Symptoms need to be investigated to rule out bowel cancer as an underlying cause, no matter your age. Be an advocate for your own health as you know your body better than anyone. Talk to your GP about what’s NOT NORMAL. Share this post and become a messenger helping to raise awareness of Australia’s second deadliest cancer. 13.01.2022 We came together as a team and community today to acknowledge White Ribbon Day 2020. Did you know that one in four children are exposed to domestic violence? Family violence is also the main cause of homelessness for women and their children. Frances Ralph, Yerin’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Health Worker, reiterated the importance of ‘speaking up against violence.’ It is not a part of our culture, we need to commit to action to prevent men’s violence against women.... Today, our Aboriginal men made a pledge to stand up, speak out and act to end violence. If you or anyone you know is experiencing domestic violence please speak up and reach out. #WhtieRibbonDay #SpeakUpNow #DontBeSilent

09.01.2022 Infant Mental Health Awareness Week runs every June to highlight the importance of babies' emotional wellbeing and development. The week provides an opportunity for everyone to share work they are doing and to help raise awareness of this important part of early childhood development. Infant mental health matters now more than ever. The goal of this years IMHAW theme is to encourage everyone working in children and young peoples mental health policies, strategies and services... to think about and include babies. Children and young peoples mental health should refer to the mental health of all children from 0-18 and beyond, but too often it is focussed on older children, there is a baby blindspot. We are encouraging everyone to think and talk about infant, children and young peoples mental health, and to consider how babies mental health needs can be met. Lets help give infants, young children and their families the best possible start in the important, early years of life by improving professional and community understanding that infancy is a critical time for the development of emotional, physical, cognitive, social and mental health. #gudjagangs #darkinjungcountry #Yerin #centralcoastnsw
