It’s been three years since the nation gathered around our screens to hear the outcome of the Australian marriage equality postal survey. In what might’ve been a cruel blow for LGBTIQ+ Australians, marriage equality instead won the support of the Australian people and the biggest YES! vote in the land was recorded right here in Canberra with a 74% affirmative vote. That night, we danced until the wee hours on Lonsdale Street in celebration and Australia’s new queer festival YES!Fest was born! We continued that tradition in both November 2018 and 2019 and grew to become a day and a night festival. YES!Fest became an event that the whole city could be proud of and one that LGBTIQ+ people from around the country want to visit. This year, a year unlike any other, we are determined to show you our pride and our joy again in the only way we know how - by throwing a fabulous party! To comply with COVID-19 restrictions, we are able to present two ticketed shows at Hopscotch on Sunday 15 November of 90-minutes each, starting at 7pm and 8.45pm. They can also be streamed on Vimeo for free. Limited tickets are available to the shows for tables of six and those six ticket holders may attend one session only so that more people have the chance to attend. The groups of six will receive a cocktail on arrival, pizzas and a 90-minute show jam-packed with Canberra’s most delicious performers.
