24.01.2022 It's been a while, so I promise to try and post more often. Especially in this trying and uncertain time. So, I have chosen to show you a delightful handmade and hand embroidered apron. Made in the 1940's by Estelle's mother and hand embroidered by Estelle and added to her Glory Box. Estelle married in 1950 and I purchased it in 2011. It was still unused and when asked why she had not used it Estelle replied " Well it would have got dirty". A truely wonderful piece.

18.01.2022 A very successful Garden Party Garage Sale held last Friday. A few drops of rain early and then sunshine and wind for the day. Some friends renewing friendships, meeting new friends, selling some of our items from our bulging cupboards and generally enjoying the day. We will do it again but not for awhile.
17.01.2022 With Christmas just around the corner, it's time for all the Christmas music to come out of the cupboard. I just love playing the records on the old record player and hearing the old style sounds.

10.01.2022 My small collection of Wooden boxes. The Kraft boxes are dated 1916 and come from a good friend. The Cadbury's box I have had for some time, I guess the age to be c1940's. Epsom Salts box a little younger as it has both pounds and kilo's.

08.01.2022 Each year in the wet season these little native drooping orchids awaken from their sleep and appear in parts my garden. They are so lovely and appropriate for the Cemetery. A lovely reminder. I encourage them to grow on several of the graves and in a small garden around one of the trees.
08.01.2022 Playing all these Golden Oldies for the next few days on my record player. Not too modern technology. Come and join me. For a coffee or tea and a listen to some wonderful music.

06.01.2022 This is a modern version that I have had in my kitchen for almost 50 years or thereabouts. This is plastic coated metal and when placed in a saucepan with liquid( mainly milk) it makes a noise when it starts to boil. Called a "Boil Alert" by Pyrex. It is also number 8 in my collection.
06.01.2022 Found in some old linen. What a find. Can any body put a date on this?
05.01.2022 A new addition to my music centre. Restored and playing beautiful music. Made in 1932, this top of the range portable Gramophone Cost 6/15/0
04.01.2022 As a local history buff I felt the need to climb to the top of The Leap mountain. Yesterday I did just that. A wonderful morning (5 hours) in total. A slow climb in the presence of experienced and older bush walkers. My muscles are a bit sore this morning but my heart and mind are very happy. What a wonderful view.
04.01.2022 The Andrew Sisters singing today at Mandarana. All these of these dresses are original 1940's. Two of these frocks have been gifted to me by a local identity. Home made and proudly worn.
04.01.2022 Here are 7 of my 8 items in this collection. The 3 white ones are ceramic (I think) 1 Aluminium and three "Pyrex" glass. For those of you who know what they are, no telling. For those who don't know I will let you know in a couple of days.

02.01.2022 Now that the cold weather is here, we should be warming up with these great old pottery foot warmers. 10 inches (26cm) long by 4 inches (10cm )diameter. Filled with hot water, just what you need for a warmer for your bed.
01.01.2022 Heritage mowing at Mandarana Cemetery.
01.01.2022 Mmmm a hot cup of tea. Just what we need when the weather is cold. Teapots and cosies from the 1950's. For keen knitters patterns could be copied.
01.01.2022 1940's and 1950's Roller skates. I learnt how to skate on the cement path leading to the back yard toilet. The 1950's were the one I used.
