25.01.2022 Some sustenance to prepare me for the 2 hour Mysore class with Mark Togni at the @goldcoastyogacentre later this morning. Pretty good view from my Airbnb at #burleighheads don’t you think?

24.01.2022 Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I’m taking some time off to spend with this crazy bunch. I’ll see you back on the mat in January. First class for 2021 - Monday 11th January 6pm. Take care, be good and have fun.

22.01.2022 Thanks for your interest everyone, please note the slight change to the timetable, the Gong Meditation will now be later in the afternoon. This event is now almost fully booked with only one spot remaining. Please let me know if you're interested in taking it

22.01.2022 This week's philosophy theme of the week is Loyalty. Loyalty is staying true to someone (and yourself). It is standing up for something you believe in without wavering (doing your yoga practice). It is being faithful to your family, country, school, friends or ideals (doing your yoga practice to stay grounded and balanced so you can be a good parent, citizen, student, friend) when the going gets tough as well as when things are good (yoga even when you're tired). Loyalty is... staying committed (to your health, wellbeing and yoga). Get the message?

22.01.2022 We all need to hear this.

21.01.2022 This is one of my yoga teachers James E Bryan from Knoff Yoga. Please bear in mind that James used to practice yoga around 7 hours every day, when you practice with that amount of intensity magical things can happen. You might just find your leg behind your back! James is an inspiration, his passion and focus is admirable, but was he practising moderation back when he was doing this amount of yoga? ... These days he has a much more balanced approach to life, he mixes his practice with walking on the beach, swimming in the ocean and spending time with his lovely wife Nicky Knoff. He might not be able to get his leg behind his back anymore but does that really matter? Why do we do yoga? To experience balance and freedom in the body and mind, sometimes that means that less is more. Do what's right for you, just enough, not too little, not too much. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. xxx

21.01.2022 Mysore was of course AMAZING! Came home and spent most of the afternoon reading, then went for a walk on the beach in the crazy wind! Love it!

20.01.2022 A couple of photos from last week’s kid’s yoga class, this was lesson four of the four week course. To see these children grow into real life yogis was an absolute joy. They found focus and peace in meditation, stillness and freedom in relaxation, strength and flexibility in the postures and friendships in each other. Thank you to everyone who joined us. More classes to come soon.

19.01.2022 Practice time in the rainforest.

19.01.2022 How awesome is this?

15.01.2022 Kids yoga class

15.01.2022 This is not a dress rehearsal!

14.01.2022 Thank you to my lovely friend and yoga student Fi for these beautiful flowers. They certainly brighten up my new reception area. There are some wonderful people in the world.

13.01.2022 I think this pretty much sums it up!

11.01.2022 These amazing yogi kids hit the yoga mats this afternoon with a degree of energy and enthusiasm that was hard to match! They worked their bodies, stretched and strengthened, breathed deeply and filled their lungs, calmed their minds, at the end they relaxed and let go of all tension and tightness. What a great bunch of kids. More classes coming after the school holidays.

11.01.2022 A blast from the past!

11.01.2022 Warm weather fosters growth; cold weather destroys it. Thus a man with an unsympathetic temperament has scant joy; but a man with a warm and friendly heart has overflowing blessings, and his beneficence will extend to posterity. Hung Tzu-cheng

10.01.2022 https://zenergyyoga.com/yoga-for-kids-a-pathway-to-calm-and Due to a last minute cancellation I have one spot left for the Children's introduction to yoga class next Saturday 22nd at 2pm. Please contact me if you're interested.

10.01.2022 Well done to these young yogis that came to class yesterday . It was a pleasure to teach them how to use their breath to calm their bodies and minds. We also looked at the importance of having a healthy spine and practiced some poses to strengthen and stretch the whole back. I’m looking forward to seeing them again next Saturday when we’ll focus on healthy tummies.

09.01.2022 What a lovely idea.

08.01.2022 It’s almost time for week three of the four week kids’ yoga course. Today we work on building strength, in both body and mind.

07.01.2022 WHAT IS PERSISTENCE? Persistence is being purposeful and steadfast. It is sticking to something; staying committed, no matter how long it takes or what obstacles appear to stop you. A good example is the story of the tortoise and the hare. Even though the tortoise was slower than the hare, he won the race because he persevered he didn’t let anything stop him or distract him. He kept on going. Persistence means continuing to work toward a goal even when it takes a long time ...or things get tough. Without persistence, obstacles stop us; with persistence we learn from our failures we work with them and use them as stepping-stones instead of barriers. Persistence allows us to succeed where otherwise we might fail, because much of what matters in life requires sustained effort and repeated attempts. The greater the accomplishment we seek, the more likely this is to be true. Persistence in the service of a higher goal calls out many other virtues in us, because in order to persist we have to push ourselves beyond what is comfortable. See more

06.01.2022 Reposted from @yinspirationyinyoga Ballerina or runner? The angle of inclination of the neck of the femur (thigh bone) will determine how much movement occurs in the hip joint. The more slanted the angle, the greater the range of motion (ROM).... More is not always better though. It always depends on what you want to do with your hips. A ballerina would prefer more range as her profession requires her to maximise that reach in order to look impressive in her dance. An Olympic runner may prefer otherwise, as his profession requires more stability in his movements. Giving him more range may adversely affect his running performance. The limited range that he has actually saves him energy and renders him more efficiency and power to perform his forward sprint. More ROM is great for exercises that require flexibility but bad for those that require speed. You may be more flexible but you are also slower. So it really depends on what do you want to do with the bones that you have. The shape of our bones are pretty much fixed by the time we reach puberty. You cannot change it (unless you go for aesthetic surgery). So when practising yoga (or any other movement modalities), it is vital we respect the limitations of our #anatomy (which is in our DNA), and work within "our own healthy range" instead of imitating what others can and we cannot. #EverySkeletonIsDifferent #yin #yinyoga #functionalanatomy

06.01.2022 We still have a few spots available for this Saturday's kid's yoga class where we'll be calming down busy minds, stretching and strengthening bodies and learning how to relax! PM me if you want to take a spot !

06.01.2022 Kids yoga class on breathing this weekend, what we breathe, how we breathe and how important it is to breathe well. The wishing tree was a highlight for me, everyone wrote one wish on a butterfly for themselves and one for the world, then the wishing tree released them into the universe. It was beautiful. Thank you to everyone that came, it was so much fun and we’ll do more very soon. ...

03.01.2022 I’m not sure if exam season is over yet or not but just in case here’s a great article about how yoga can help stresses out teenagers.

02.01.2022 These beautiful flowers were given to my today from two amazing women that I am proud to call my yoga students and my friends. I had some sad news yesterday, I lost one of my dearest friends to an awful illness. These roses were to cheer me up and they certainly did. It still hurts, but to feel such support and love really helps .

01.01.2022 Please share, lets help our kids live more peaceful, healthy and balanced lives.
