25.01.2022 W A R M T H I've taken to preparing warm fruit salad for lunch. I love eating fresh fruit but at the same time I feel I really something warm now that it's winter in South Australia. So here's my newest, self-invented recipe. - put a bunch of frozen berries in a pot with half a cup of water, a handful of nuts, a handful of seeds, goji berries, inca berries, etc... and warm it up. - in the meantime, peel, cut and slice any fruit you have in the house. This bowl here contains ...an orange, grapefruit, strawberry, avocado and blueberries. - Stir the berries occasionally making sure there is still liquid in the pot, add water if necessary - pour the warm berry sauce over your fruit and dig in. - Sit in the sun and enjoy your warm fruit salad. 5 minutes work for a bowl overflowing with goodness and vitamins. PS. 24.01.2022 L A N D F I L L I've been upping my game when it comes to living a more sustainable life and creating less waste. Today was a happy day with the arrival of my monthly batch of decompostable coffee pods from @expresspods and my first ever order from @boodyecowear. Joining the @slowfashionseason made me go that extra mile. I was already buying mainly second-hand clothes, but needed an alternative for socks and underwear (because reusing somebody else undies ) and @dbedays suggested I look into bamboo material. 19.01.2022 C O M P L E T E D Today, @myponga.paige and I handed certificates of completion to the first group of students who joined us for the 30-hour course Yin Yoga ~ A Deep Dive into Meridians. It was amazing how the course blended together and how the energy flowed during the entire training. We absolutely loved running this program and are so grateful to @emily_willow_kit @moon_garden__ @samanthajaneharrisxx @susiwutao @solemnpractice @lizardhearingwell and all the others ...not on Insta who came to receive, give and share with us. Despite a little corona-related delay, we wrapped it all up before Christmas. We can now all move on to wrapping presents. 17.01.2022 N A T U R A L Yesterday I started with this spring and summer's crop. Finally had enough empty toilet rolls for a reasonable amount of seeds (two years of saving them up!). Since washing is much more hygienic, we don't use much toilet paper. But when we do, it's @whogivesacraptp all the way! Quite the surprise when I opened the packet of Climbing Bean seeds! 16.01.2022 Sometimes things change at a pace so fast that you stumble through life trying to catch up. People always laugh at me for planning ahead so much. The funny thing is that, because I'm such a long term planner, I find it pretty easy to navigate unexpected circumstances: I know where I'm heading and if there is a roadblock, I know it's just a detour, not the end. So I happily stumble, learn, try, adapt, fall over, pick myself up, dust off my clothes and carry on. All that said,... everything is ready to re-open the studio classes tomorrow. As of today, all venues are required to put in place a contact tracing system, so I've printed the QR code for Yoga Here & There and will make several copies available at the shala and wherever I organise yoga events. Please check yourself in before the start of the class.... For that you'll need to: 1) bring your smartphone 2) have a QR scanning app (on iPhone and some other phones it's integrated in the camera app) or the mySA GOV app downloaded and ready for use on your phone 3) scan the QR code at the entrance of the shala 4) follow the prompts which require you leave you name/contact number and confirm this with a code they send you by SMS 5) put your phone on silent, enter the shala, breathe deeply and enjoy your time on the mat! :-) If you don't have a smartphone, it's ok - my booking system will serve as a back up. 14.01.2022 C O N F E S S I O N S It may sounds strange but I don't enjoy practicing or teaching yoga outdoors. Or more precisely, without a roof over my head and a steady floor under my feet. The energy feels uncontained and wobbly. I don't mind the wind, the sounds of nature and the warmth but a scorching sun and an uneven ground are not conducive to my practice. Still, I enjoyed teaching in my garden for @fleurieuyoga , live streaming my class to wonderful students from all corners of... the world. We are so fortunate we can still connect in this way. 08.01.2022 G L U T E N F R E E Last night I made a big falafel salad for dinner. Cooking delicious gluten free food is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Gluten free Lebanese bread from the shop this time but next time I want to make my own with chickpea flour. Roasted pumpkin, avocado, cherry tomatoes and cucumber on a bed of salad with mustard dressing. Topped with freshly fried falafel which I made with the last batch of broad beans from last season, wild garlic and fresh parsley from the garden.
