16.01.2022 Looking forward to classes starting again on Monday 12th October. As this year has been exceptionally challenging for many of us, particularly on a mental and emotional level, this term will see a strong focus on pranayama and preparing the body to both facilitate the practice and enable us to sit comfortably. Pranayama is considered to be the heightest tapas- the greatest of all cleansing methods. Not only will the practice of pranayama help us rid ourselves of some of the ... mental and emotional impurities we have accumulated but prepare us for stepping into 2021. One of the things I always explain is that as well as giving instructions on moving the body, I also give instructions on how to breathe at the same time. Here's why.
11.01.2022 I just spotted these two birds and thought how content they look. Contentment (santosa) is one of the personal disciplines (Niyama-s) of Yoga. It means to be happy with what we have. When we learn to cultivate the attitude of contentment our desires are reduced and we experience less suffering in the form of disappointment and failure.
