22.01.2022 A former college and friend of mine shared this article. It’s so nice to see that, the time we have put into helping our clients through this pandemic has not gone unnoticed. It was recommended that we use the pandemic isolation period to reconnect with family and friend. But that wasn’t the case for many in my profession who frequently pulled all nighters helping clients whilst the daylight hours were spent homeschooling and entertaining children. It’s time for a well earned rest before the tax season begins.

15.01.2022 A former college and friend of mine found this article. It’s so nice to see, that the time we have put into assisting our clients during this pandemic has not gone unnoticed. The media labeled the pandemic as a time to reconnect with family and friends, but that didn’t happen for many in my profession who worked from home sometimes pulling all nighters, because children and home schooling occupied the daylight hours. It’s time for a well earned rest before the tax season begins.

14.01.2022 Its that time again, TAX TIME. If your like 99% of the population your scrambling for things to claim as tax deductions for 2019-2020. Well fear not, here are a couple of handy tax tips for you before 30 June. 1. Keep your receipts Substantiating your work related expenses are paramount in keeping the ATO auditors away. A handy tip for keeping those receipts is to create a Dropbox account (or like) and take a photo of your receipt and save it to Dropbox. At tax time, invite y...our accountant to share the file and they will love you. (No more shoe box filing) 2. Donations Donations are a great way to help charities and a way to claim. But be careful, you need to make sure that who your donating to, is a registered gift recipient. How do you find that out, you can do a quick ABN search, or when asking for a receipt (which I'l sure you all do), it will have printed at the bottom "Donations over $2 are tax deductible". 3. Working from home (Be careful with this claim) COVID has been a testing time for everyone, did you know that the Home Office Expense cents per hour has increased from $0.52 per hour to $0.80 peer hour from 1 March 2020 to 30 June 2020. But be warned. Using the higher rate means that you can't claim for internet, phone, heating/cooling and depreciation of office equipment. Its worth while taking the time to read the legislation. There is a potential for a lot of audits around this claim for 2020. I hope to put out a few more of these Tax Tips in due course. If your in doubt, get your tax done by a tax professional. At York View Accounting, our 2020 Tax Returns start from $143. Its also tax deductible when paid. Good luck to all this tax time. Stacey Down
