21.01.2022 Whatever ‘it’ is for you, please - stop being so hard on yourself. We don’t even realise we are doing it, but we try so hard to make ourselves wrong, to make ourselves think that we are not good enough, that we didn’t do enough, that we ‘should’ have known better and we ‘should’ just be better. We try to convince ourselves if we beat ourselves up enough then we will be better.... And it’s not just us doing this to ourselves, we all do it in sone way throughout our lives. I know this first hand because I’ve done it. Whether it was me being the instigator of my own self deprecation or listening to the words of a significant person in my life tell me or show me all the ways I wasn’t good enough and letting myself absorb that. We allow this to become our habit until we don’t even realise we are doing it. It becomes automatic. Wherever you go, there you are. We are with ourselves 24/7. If we are the one being so hard on ourselves, we cannot get away from that like we can walk away from someone who isn’t treating us with love, compassion, understanding, kindness, honesty and respect. Notice today how you could be being hard on yourself. Do the best you can with what you’ve got.
