13.01.2022 Friendly reminders to always wear your elastic bands!!!! . WHAT ARE ELASTIC BANDS?? They are little rubber bands, (like a hair tie) that is worn from the top to the bottom jaw. They come in a variety of different sizes and strengths, and we often referred fondly as ‘foxes , owls or rabbits ’ instead of saying, oh I’ll have the inch, 0.16oz elastics thanks! .... WHY DO YOU MAKE US WEAR THEM! Braces or aligners straighten teeth. BUT they only work on one jaw alone, and at the end of the day, we need BOTH jaws to come together to BITE properly. These elastics bands help BOTH jaws to meet properly, and they are also often used to drag higher canines down, or to speed up space closure. . How often?
