09.01.2022 Meet our Senior Coach Max Gercken Dont let the sweet face fool you, this coach means business. Growing up in the Forest area, Coach Max always loved tennis. Some of his earliest memories include going with his mum to her social tennis every week and trying (unsuccessfully) to let the ladies let him play too; and watching names like Lleyton Hewitt and Roger Federer play at the then-Medibank International. ... When it comes to tennis this guy has been around the courts playing for 18 years, and has ha over 6 years coaching at Belrose Tennis Club under his belt; Coach Max has the unique ability to provide a deep knowledge of tennis fundamentals and techniques while also being young enough to connect with the children he coaches, both privately and in our highly skilled group classes. He brings a vibrant passion with him whenever he steps onto the court and strives to turn every lesson into a memorable experience. A well rounded athlete, Max is a graduate of North Sydney Boys High School, which he represented in numerous sports, including of course tennis. He would go on to be a state-level player in not only tennis, but also volleyball and ultimate frisbee. Currently, he balances coaching full time with completing his B.Comm. at UNSW, captaining an interstate representative volleyball team, and still finding time for a social hit whenever he gets the chance. Off the sports field, Max loves watching things live, whether sports events, video game competitions or concerts, and can regularly be seen in Olympic Park, either participating in a sporting tournament, or enjoying his favourite events. We loving having Coach Max with us and is a very valuable member of the club as well as being an asset to anyones tennis career young or old.

04.01.2022 To my Young Aces family, It is with great sadness and regret that I must inform you that Belrose Tennis Club has closed its doors to all tennis activities for the foreseeable future. The Northern Beaches Council made the decision to close the courts last night to prevent the spread of COVID-19.... This means there will no longer be any private or group lessons, permanent or casual court hire. It doesnt come as much of a surprise and I believe it is the right decision given the spread of the virus. I will use the time wisely and look to make improvements in the day to day running of the business and I will continue to send out video content to keep everyone active at home. Im incredibly fortunate to have kind and generous parents who have committed to support Young Aces through this tough time and offered great ideas. I hope to see you all back for term 2 or as soon as we can open again. As a coaching team we will come back stronger than ever! I will keep you posted with any further developments as I receive them. Until then, please stay safe and look after your families. Many thanks, Will

This pricing structure will be in place until group classes can return. The following rules MUST be followed: - ONLY COACHES allowed to touch the tennis balls and equipment - Players and coaches to SANITISE their hands before and after lesson - Coaches must maintain a 2 metre distance from players - Only 1 player on court with a coach at a time - The club house will remain closed so all players must bring their own water Please phone or email to book in: 0423 391 962 or [email protected] Look forward to hearing from you!

03.01.2022 Our BTC yellow ball teams are going into their finals matches tomorrow and we wish them the best of luck. We obviously hope they win, however we wanted to remind them of the bigger picture and that along the pathway to success there will be defeats. But is losing a tennis match always such a bad thing? I would argue that there are in fact some benefits to losing: Losing makes you more determined to work harder and get better. Where is the incentive to improve if you are alwa...ys winning? Losing makes you more willing to change your game and further develop it. For example, if you are losing to players who are causing you problems by coming to the net, you might decide to add serve and volley to your set of skills. If you get to the net first, an opponent will find it difficult to also move forward. Losing provides the opportunity to see exactly what you need to do in order to improve. If you can correctly analyse why you lost, you have a readymade list of what you need to improve in order to win the next time. Losing some matches provides opportunities to learn to face defeat with grace, dignity and even style. Since we are all going to lose at times, why not focus on the positives that you can take from the experience? Play well boys and girls and dont lose sight of the bigger picture!

03.01.2022 Hi guys, we hope you are staying safe and healthy. We have some GOOD NEWS! We have decided to go ahead with opening our doors up to the community (with some restrictions in place). So if your family is itching to get outdoors for some activity please come on down! PRIVATE LESSONS... At this stage, we can ONLY offer PRIVATE LESSONS and they must following the strict guidelines as set out below: ONLY COACHES allowed to touch the tennis balls and equipment Players and coaches to SANITISE their hands before and after lesson Coaches must maintain a 2 metre distance from players Only 1 player on court with a coach at a time The club house will remain closed so all players must bring their own water There are significant advantages of one-on-one lessons, specifically the tailoring of coaching to the individuals needs and also the increased rate of improvement. We understand the financial implications that COVID-19 is having on families and we want to ensure that tennis is accessible for our players. We have therefore decided to offer a discounted rate for EVERYONE. We intend for this to be a middle ground that ensures that tennis is available and accessible but also allows us to continue to pay rent, utilities and our coaches. Our usual private lesson fee is $83 for 1 hr but we will be offering $35 for 30 mins or $70 for 1 hr. This pricing structure will be in place until group classes can return. If you already have a private lesson with one of our coaches and would like to continue with your timeslot, please let us know. If you dont already have private lessons and would like to try private lessons please let us know ASAP as spaces may be limited. Lessons will be re-commencing this coming Monday (6 April). As an extra sweetener, if you recommend us to a friend and they join the coaching program, you will receive 1 free lesson from us.
