21.01.2022 When to seek further help... Parenting is exhausting at the best of times, but when you are caring for a chronically unwell child or a child with a life threatening or palliative condition, as well as juggling everything else in your life, it’s not uncommon to become exhausted. Parents often feel they must manage everything alone but the stress and responsibility can sometimes become overwhelming. If you’re feeling under pressure, and it is affecting your emotional and physic...al health do ask for help. Let your GP and the healthcare team know that you are finding things tough. You may be finding that you’re becoming anxious or depressed. Some low days are to be expected and you may even experience sone days that go quite well. However, if you’re stressed, anxious or depressed, for longer than a few days, do talk to your GP about how you are feeling, especially if you are having difficulty sleeping or your losing weight, you may benefit from some time off work, support or counselling. You may also be able to get support from local volunteer groups, as well as social and community services. You don't need to do this alone. It's important to check in with someone.
