"It came from an innovation challenge where we addressed youth suicide. We found that many youngsters are spending too much time on social media and their screen. We found that they would benefit from engaging with our elders. To connect the two generations is a cause we are ready to pursue" Youngster.co is dedicated to connecting the generations. We are currently looking for Elders who would like to help us teach our Youngsters about life. Our Elders' life experience is proving invaluable. We hope you enjoy a glimpse into making a project come together! ... "Group work is hard. Working with a large(ish) number of people over a long time was emotionally strenuous. I learnt a lot about myself and how I relate to people though. Everyone has different drivers, different priorities (and other demands on the rest of their time). It took me a while to realise that’s ok. Bec (our teacher) did keep telling us to trust the process, she was right. I’m SO glad we preserved! The results of our Project Connect work were really worthwhile, and I’m proud to be part of the Team that achieved them. 24.01.2022 We are super proud of the outcomes of the Project Connect and the great collaboration between TAFE NSW, Youngster.co and Linked To Life. Recently one of the Elders Jan was having trouble with her emails. She wanted to download her CV and work on it so she could then send it off as requested. The Youngsters at Project Connect were able to help Jan understand how to download and send her CV off. Jan is now a whiz at emails! ... In the last session with Jan we asked her if there is one wish or a person from anywhere in the world she would like to meet who would it be? She said: "Nicole Kidman"! We thought it would be amazing if we could get Jan and Nicole together! Tell us DO YOU THINK JAN SHOULD CHAT WITH Nicole Kidman? Share this post far and wide so we can take it to Nicole and really have Jan’s dreams come true!!!

We connect tech savvy juniors to people that need help with technology. We do this through phone and video calls.... Every Youngster must pass a comprehensive interview to verify their courtesy, attentiveness, knowledge and general suitability. Once accepted, they then complete Australian Police checks and a basic induction training. Because of COVID-19, we only offer sessions over video or phone calls. 22.01.2022 Time Well Spent Ever had a connection with someone that no matter how brief the experience could last a lifetime? Some of these connections come from the most unlikely of places. ... Over the past three weeks the students at TAFE NSW created Project Connect. In collaboration with Youngser.co and Linked To Life they have undertaken to teach 3 elders in our community how to use the technology in their lives. They have used tech for good and wow didn’t it feel good! Each elder expressed a need, and the students went about devising ways to empower their elders to use the technology in their lives in a meaningful and proactive way. Some elders wanted help with their iPads, others wanted to be able to talk to their family via video link up and others wanted to understand how to use their email system better. Students had to decipher the need, find a solution and deliver it to their elder in a way that they could understand, implement and feel comfortable using at the end of the program. The results were beyond expectation! Elders not only mastered their tech goals, but developed a readiness to learn more. Youngsters and Elders connected in a profound way that surpassed the tasks and hand. Stories were shared of lifetimes ago when things were different. The past met the present through the window of experience and the glove of possibility. Connections were forged and the chasm between the young and the wise was completely forged. In this ground breaking project, the power to transform through connection has not only closed the age gap but united the technological divide for good! Many have lived through wars, changes in social and cultural frameworks, changes in currency and legislation and they have learned how to make it in the world. They have raised families, bought and sold homes, worked hard to become successful and through their life experience provide a rich and abundant wealth of knowledge and wisdom. ... We have Youngster's eager to connect with Elders to talk to them about their experiences - and learn from them! We are a progressive tech company seeking to support our community by bridging the generation gap and providing valuable workplace skills to the Youngsters who work with us. ... But many have lived a life without the need for the tech they now find themselves surrounded with. ... Some feel intimidated, unsafe and unsure about how to use the devices they have. Over 4 million aged over 65 Australians are limited digital users who rarely engage with the internet or use only a few apps or websites. Would you agree with this statement?
