18.01.2022 KIDS FITNESS Kids were rather chatty today and had to be disciplined with a firm talking to No, my classes are never perfect and I have days when I could just rip my hair out and then I have the most fabulous of days where everything is in alignment and working really well. ... This is life and anyone who speaks otherwise is full of it. Many many humans love to paint the perfect of pictures all the time, maybe for some reason they get the stupid idea in their head that if their work place is not perfect then they are failing Sorry guys, it’s failing the moment you give up on achieving your intended goals as a trainer. No lollipop or Zooper Dooper today for these chatty kids If you don’t do the work you do not get the reward at the end, it’s that simple. You can dislike me all you want, but me giving kids what they want will not help them be successful in achieving their goals in Kyokushin, because most kids just wants games, laugh, talk and don’t care about their own development as they don’t fully understand what is required of them or why we do what we do for them. It is my obligation as an adult and as an adult trainer of Kyokushin to ensure these kids learn to the best of their ability and improve no matter how long that may take. I am not here to muck around and waste their parents money or waste anyone’s time. As cheeky as these kids are, give me 100 of these little rascals who would drive me crazy for not listening over 10 kids who are not interested in Karate any day. ... Pulled out the practise break boards yesterday after they did Monday 200 (50 Pushups, 50 Squats, 50 sit-ups, 50 Burpees) Still yet to look through the footage to upload, I am sure there are some pretty cute moments. 14.01.2022 OI TSUKI-GYAKU TSUKI Colin, Abby & Sara all did so well in this session. I get that kids need to have fun when training, however like in everyday school, kids need to do the work prior to getting their play time, is this not correct? ... Same as in the dojo. If you do good Kyokushin and I can see you are actually making the effort to want to improve then the fun comes after the session is complete. If however the class as whole does not put in the work and actually understand what it takes to be a hard worker then there is no play time. Education on the life’s truth is one of the most important lessons children should learn from birth. Put it this way, unless you choose to be a worker in life, then one should never expect a decent living. These are the lessons my students are learning. The fruits of your labour will come if you choose to put the work in. A dojo does not earn a lot of money and it is a hard job trying to maintain structure when working with multiple personalities and multiple physical abilities. The fruits of my labour come when a student succeeds in improving something they have been struggling with. Everyone’s fruit tree looks very different and unless you have dug the same holes, planted that same tree, watered and nurtured that same garden for it to grow, no one has the full understanding or vision and should forever and always respect your garden and respect the work that has gone into that garden. I have been been building my garden for 20 years now, I’ve had grubs eat at my garden, I’ve had fruits taken from my garden, I’ve had my garden judged on many levels, yes even my little seeds have been judged, I’ve had some trees just die and leave without any warning and they were beautiful trees too just waiting to be fully blossomed and never gave themselves a chance to show their true beauty and I’ve had many helpers water my garden for me when I was unable to be here My garden will always be precious to me and I will water it in the best way I can, and also raise it to be as solid as I can also. 13.01.2022 SELF DISCIPLINE SUCCESS Training at Young Tigers Dojo with the parents working alongside the instructors and not against them, helps with the nonsense that children try to put over the parents and the instructors. Sometimes the parents have to be tough on their kids alongside the instructors to have a positive outcome in their kids training. ... Today while Sensei was sorting out some stuff before class commenced, all these kids sat quietly in Seiza waiting for Alicia. I witnessed these kids parents supporting the Kyokushin etiquette and I am impressed by the team effort shown by everyone. I know these kids will be successful on this journey because their parents support Sensei’s guidance simply because we do not play Karate our students are training and studying Kyokushin Karate, it is important to know the difference. Kyokushin Etiquette is practised heavily all over the world by Millions of practitioners and this all started with one man, Sosai Matsutatsu Oyama in 1964, also recognised as ‘The Strongest Karate’. Last school term I would never have even attempted this exercise because of the pain I was going through that was surrounding in and around the right side of groin, inner thigh, knee, calf and instep areas did not make it possible for me to attempt. 05.01.2022 CORE & BALANCE These kids received a random and rare fun balance moment after giving me a good warm up Tuesday afternoon. Going through the 3 stages by count and they definitely had way too much fun. Given it was their first time I shall most certainly have more discipline from them next time we do it ... You will see some little kids really giving it a good go, others just saw fun education at this age is super important on why these types of warm ups and drills are important for agility in training. This is why I always express that the white belts do really matter in the Dojo. You just never know who these white belts are going to grow up to be like in the dojo. ... I love to embrace the beginner Kyokushin practitioner because one day after time and some good solid attention they may turn out to be one of the best fighters, technicians or leaders within the dojo. That would never happen if they are not embraced the right way. This footage you simply cannot get back, you cannot re-enact a genuinely priceless moment of leadership and support that is displayed by a very young child. I have expressed for sooo many years now, that I wish my eyes could video all that I witness in my dojo. The beautiful selfless souls that have graced my floors in the past 20 years cannot be bought. I have been blessed and continue to be blessed each and every year. If I only had 10 students in my dojo, I would still leave my doors open and guide those 10, just so I can see moments like these. Becoming a man no doubt has its challenges and I cannot speak from experience and many older men most likely forget what it truly felt like trying to become young man.... I know there have been times I was not well liked but I hope you know I have always had your best interest at heart and always will.
