24.01.2022 Meet Dr Wendy Hu Dr Wendy has always looked up to her mum, Dr Wang and knew from an early age that she wanted to follow in her mum’s footsteps to be able to help her patients achieve happy and healthy smiles. Dr Wendy earned her Bachelors of Dental Surgery from The University of Queensland where she graduated with first class honours in 2015. She is an experienced clinician with special interests in orthodontics with clear aligners (Invisalign), children’s dentistry and aesth...etic dentistry. Dr Wendy achieved her Invisalign accreditation in 2018 and obtained her Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Orthodontics in 2019. She has also completed implant courses and is passionate about continuing education to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and techniques to provide the best long-lasting treatment for her patients. She loves working together with Dr Wang as a team and loves investing in modern technologies to practice dentistry in the digital era. Her genuine and caring demeanor allows her to treat patients from all walks of life, and her gentle touch which helps to put all of her patients at ease. Dr Wendy can speak English and Mandarin.

23.01.2022 Happy Saturday Everyone! Look at the great change Dr Wendy achieved for one of her patients today who had an old silver amalgam filling and a crack in his bottom . If left as it was, the cracked area could get worse and allow bacteria to leak under the old filling and cause further tooth decay. Luckily this new filling not only looks great but also helps to provide a great seal to protect the area! Did you know we are open for business on Saturday and Sunday? Weekend appointments book up quick so give us a call on 9484 7056 or us via our website to arrange your next dental visit! #dentist #preston #prestondentist #wypdental #composite #compositefilling #dental #dentalcheckup #reopening

19.01.2022 LEVEL 3 RESTRICTIONS Dear valued patients, The Victorian Government has released new information overnight regarding their new workplace restrictions. For the purposes of the Restricted Activity Directions (Restricted Area) (No 6), effective as at 5 August 2020 from 11.59pm, all public and private health services including dentists are permitted workplaces but only for urgent care in metropolitan Melbourne.... Our Box Hill clinic will be OPEN (at reduced hours) to accepting EMERGENCY TREATMENT ONLY (i.e. severe toothache, facial swelling, orthodontic emergencies that cannot be treated at home). Our Preston clinic will be temporarily closed until restrictions are eased. Our phone lines will remain open and email will continue to be monitored if you need to contact us. If you have any appointments coming up in the next 6 weeks, we will be in contact to reschedule them. Thank you for your understanding - we can beat this Victoria! WYP Dental Team

19.01.2022 From Wednesday July 23rd, in an effort to #stopthespread in Victoria, the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services have mandated that everyone wear a face covering when leaving home for any of the permitted reasons. The wearing of masks is consistent with the updated information published by the World Health Organisation (WHO) which has stated that governments should encourage the general public to wear masks in order to prevent COVID-19 transmission effectively in a...reas of community transmission. Many of our lovely patients have already been wearing masks when coming to see us at the clinic, and in addition to #physicaldistancing, temperature reading, hand cleaning and regular surface cleaning, have allowed us to continue providing a safe environment for both our patients and staff. Whilst we will miss being able to smile and greet you, all staff and patients will need to wear a mask or face covering in all areas except when you are in the dental chair ready for treatment. All patients will need to rinse with mouth rinse for 30 seconds prior to any treatment also. Unfortunately if you do not have a face covering, we may not be able to welcome you into the clinic. As disposable surgical face masks are getting harder and more expensive to source, we recommend patients consider purchasing or making fabric masks that can be washed and reused. See link for a video tutorial on how to make your own https://youtu.be/R1GZilOKpgQ Fabric masks should be washed after every use or every 4 hours so make sure you have a few on hand! We can do this Victoria! #stopthespread #wecandothisvictoria #covid19 #covidupdate #facemask #facecovering #fabricfacemask #dentist #melbournedentist #boxhilldentist #prestondentist #wypdental

18.01.2022 Did you know taking off your PPE correctly is equally if not even more essential than putting it on correctly?? One of the major causes of heath care worker infection is due to incorrect sequence or incorrect hand hygiene during removal or ‘doffing’ of PPE. It is essential to avoid touching the contaminated front surface of your PPE, and ensuring you implement hand hygiene before touching around your face. This also applies to everyone who is wearing a mask in Melbourne, mak...e sure you don’t touch the outside of your mask, instead remove it using the ear loops or ties, fold it so the outside surface is covered in the middle, and place it in a plastic bag or the rubbish bin. Then wash your hands! The Royal Melbourne Hospital #wypdental #handhygiene #ppe #doffing #infectioncontrol #wearamask #covid19 #tiktok #melbournedentist #boxhilldentist

06.01.2022 In order to ensure we abide by #socialdistancing in order to #flattenthecurve and #savelives, it is so important for each and every one of us to try our best to stay at home. This has meant that we have deferred many of our routine orthodontic appointments. So what should you do if your wire is too long or your bracket falls off? Thankfully, most orthodontic appliances can be left for a few months without any problems as long as you adhere to the usual home care instructions.... 1. Maintain excellent oral hygiene brushing 3 times a day with a standard or electric toothbrush, followed by interproximal brushes/piksters to clean under the wires. As an adjunct, you can also use a fluoride mouthrinse. 2. Eat a low sugar diet where possible avoid all snacking on sugars and drinks with ADDED SUGAR. Fizzy drinks should be avoided in particular. 3. Avoid hard, sticky and chewy foods that could break the braces wire or fracture brackets If something does happen, I have put together some easy at home fixes for common orthodontic problems to get you through the next few weeks. Please feel free to share this with your family and friends who may find this helpful! And if in doubt, please contact us at (03) 987 4411 or email us at [email protected].

06.01.2022 The CDBS cap will be restored to $1000 per child - A great victory thanks to lobbying by the Australian Dental Association!! "The reduction to $700 would have led to more than 1 in 4 children who use the Scheme - around 250,000 children - facing the very real possibility of not having all their treatment needs met. With dental disease in children on the rise - figures show that 4 out of 10 children aged 5 -10 and 3 out of 10 children aged 9 -14 having decay in their baby and permanent teeth respectively - any kind of reduction is bad news for the oral health of these children." All of our dentists at You Ping Wang Dental Clinics are able to bulk bill for children eligible under CDBS so give us a ring today we will be happy to help you!

04.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Dear valued patients, We hope this letter finds you healthy in these unsettled times. As of Monday 24th March, 2020 the Australian Dental Association has recommended all dentists defer urgent dental treatment for suspected cases of COVID-19 who meet epidemiological/clinical criteria until COVID-19 status is confirmed and defer routine dental treatment that is considered to be non-urgent and will not impact on the dental or general health of the patient.... At WYP Dental, our priority is the health of our patients and staff. We have therefore made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend all non-urgent dental services effective immediately. We will still be able to see dental emergencies to a limited capacity for existing patients. At this time, the length of this disruption is uncertain; however, our team is still here to support you should you have any questions. Please email us at [email protected] or call us at (03) 9897 4411. Though well be operating at a reduced capacity, well respond as soon as were able. Were committed to returning to full capacity at the earliest time that its safe to do so, and will continue to monitor the situation daily and will follow the recommendations of the varying governing associations. Well continue to share updates regularly. If you have a routine appointment on the calendar right now, well reach out to reschedule with you separately. We thank you for your understanding at this time, and hope that you and your families stay safe and healthy. We look forward to seeing you in the near future. Sincerely, The WYP Dental Team

At this point in time, Dentistry still remains an essential service and therefore WYP dental will still continue to remain open for our patients. Please rest assured that we are continuing with our stringent triaging and infection control practices for the safety of everyone. 03.01.2022 Whilst we have been away and unable to see our patients due to COVID-19 restrictions, we have been busy reviewing and updating our infection control processes. Our goal was to ensure that our clinics are a safe place for our patients as well as our staff, particularly during this unprecedented time. WYP Dental has been audited by QIP (an independent third party assessor) under the NSQHS guidelines and has been successfully awarded Accreditation. This means that all of our processes have met the strict requirements and shows our commitment to continuous quality improvement. We hope all of our lovely patients can feel confident that their safety is our number one priority. We look forward to seeing you at your next dental visit! . . . . #wypdental #qipaccredited #qipaccreditedpractice #safetyfirst #dentalclinic

02.01.2022 Covid Update WYP Dental will remain open Dental treatment is an essential service and in many cases should not be delayed. Whilst cavities may appear small and painless on the surface, a much nastier cavity may be lurking underneath! Luckily our lovely patient was able to have this cavity fixed up today before it damaged her nerve! Having said that, in order to #flattenthecurve as soon as possible, WYP Dental will proceed to Level 2 restrictions starting next week. We ar...e following the advice of the Australian Dental Association closely and whilst not official, we have been advised that Level 2 restrictions will happen imminently. What does this mean? 1 We will be delaying non-urgent aerosol producing procedures (e.g. scale and clean) for 6 weeks 2 Planned fillings, root canal treatment and crowns can still be done under rubber dam (just like in this photo!) 3 Braces and Invisalign consultations and adjustments can proceed as normal 4 Extractions can proceed however surgical wisdom teeth removal may be delayed if possible 5 Denture repairs, dentures fabrication and adjustments to proceed as normal If you have a clean scheduled within the next few weeks, a member of our friendly team will be in contact with you soon to reschedule. If you have any particular concerns regarding your teeth however please let us know and we will still be able to complete an examination and any other necessary treatment for you.
