10.01.2022 ‘If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that 2020 has been a rough year. With the pandemic taking a toll on our mental health, it’s worth asking, can Australians get help when they need it? Australians mostly access mental health care through the Medicare system, with taxpayers spending $1.3 billion a year on rebates. But is help getting where it’s needed most?’ ABC News has just released a report showing the breakdown of mental health care access in Australia by pos...t code you can visit the following link to see exactly what access is like in your area: https://bit.ly/MHaccess The data shows that the current system leaves a large portion of Australia’s mental health workforce ‘effectively under-utilised’ and patients ‘locked into care they often can’t afford beyond 10 sessions.’ At Call to Mind, we see patients in rural, remote and metro regions of the country in a timely manner with an aim to improve access to quality care for those who need it most.
