23.01.2022 This is such important information! My waters broke at 9am - but no contractions. In my hormonal state I started crying. I remember sobbing 'it wasn't meant to happen this way', because I'd imagined my labour starting with surges.... The first rule of labour is, labour happens on baby's terms! I had deadlines to finish so I worked at home all day, while bouncing on my birth ball, snacking and listening to our birth playlist. I hit send on the final deadline at 6.30pm and BAM - the surges began. And it's not uncommon for babies to keep us waiting until we've energetically cleared space for them. Sometimes it's something we need to achieve, to release, or simply to say or acknowledge. It's amazing how emotional and energetic tension can manifest in physical ways.

23.01.2022 I adore this reflection from the divine Donna Raymond, Wise Wombman. Breastfeeding is truly such a beautiful connection to share with our little ones, and those of us who can breastfeed count our blessings. But it doesn’t always come as naturally as we might expect. Those early weeks and months of learning each other’s bodies and finding a rhythm, are awkward, challenging and sometimes painful. ... And the demands of being another human’s source of nourishment, day and night, for months, and years, on end, can’t be accurately described with words alone. There are times I’m on a deadline, or running late to see a client, or just trying to feed myself, but my son has other plans, and everything else has to wait, while I stop, and turn my attention to nourishing him, and get lost in his eyes, tracing my fingers on his flawless round cheeks and perfect ears, or caressing his delicate blonde curls. And at night, I’m woken over and over by his little hands and lips searching in the darkness for his mama, and there he feeds, as the moonlight shines upon us. Hours of every day pass by like this. No time off. No holidays. And when I look in the mirror I see lines and wrinkles that weren’t there before, dry frizzy hair where there once was glossy waves, broken and short fingernails that were always long and strong, and a softer, rounded belly, hips and thighs, that don’t have time or space to move and exercise like they used to. Nutrition in the postpartum time and throughout the breastfeeding journey is so important to help replenish the nutrients and minerals the baby is drawing down on. I see so many mothers with severe iron deficiency and even loss of teeth because they simply don’t have adequate nutrient stores to support their own health. As exhausted, time poor mothers, we often find ourselves eating quick and easy foods that may not provide all the nutrients we need, which is why supplementing with targeted good quality nutrient supplements and gut health support is so important, not only in preconception and pregnancy but the postpartum time too. Not only that, but support. The wisdom of others who walked before us. The village. Calling it in and opening up to receiving that support at any stage on this journey is so important. So needed. And we know, when the breastfeeding journey comes to a close, we will again find that time and freedom to nurture and nourish and rebuild ourselves, after giving so much of ourselves to create and sustain this new life. What a precious gift, so beautifully honoured by Donna. Thank you mama

19.01.2022 Festival vibes in Fitzroy today. Thousands of people outside and enjoying the sun. It was the first time I’ve felt truly alive in so long. The first half of my postpartum was year was spent moving house three times and relocating from Cairns to Melbourne. The next half was spent in lockdown. And it continues... So I feel like I’m just beginning to emerge from my maiden to mother cocoon, finding my wings, and getting ready to fly. ... Where are you on your journey? What has the stillness of lockdown allowed you to nurture and transform? #melbourne #fitzroy #melbournemums #parkday #hypnobirthing #nutritionist #pregnancy #postpartum #maidentomother #gentleparenting #breastfeeding #attachmentparenting

14.01.2022 Maybe a visit to the park was something I’d have taken for granted, before all this. But this little one, like so many others, has spent more than half his life in lockdown. And in that time I’ve witnessed him evolve and change each day, from his arrival earthside and those precious, fleeting newborn moments to a little person of his own, full of character and curiosity. Every day he becomes less of an extension of me, and more of his own unique identity. ... And I’m reminded now, in ways I might not have been before, to cherish the simplest of things. These are the memories that will last a lifetime. #lockdown #melbourne #parenting #hypnobirthing #childbirtheducation #attachmentparenting #gentleparenting

11.01.2022 Soo good! This is a great visual to keep in mind during my Hypnobirthing classes and during your labour. I couldn’t even tell you how many cm’s dilated I was or when. I requested no checks, because I knew it didn’t matter. Instead I laboured in the birth pool, with loving massage from my doula, words of support (and food) from my husband, and sips of Blissful Herbs tea lovingly prepared by my student midwife.... And my body birthed my baby with a strong foetal ejection reflex when my body and baby were ready

10.01.2022 I’ll never stop sharing this. It’s important for birthing people to understand that laying down to birth is, in most cases, working against gravity and anatomy. I’ve watched sooo many birth videos I’ve lost count, and I always see so much more ease in upright birth.

06.01.2022 My baby is waking! How did this happen? The first year goes so fast. Drink in every moment. ... #firstwalk #walking #baby #oneyearold #milestones #babiesofinstagram #hypnobirthing #nutritionist #pregnancy #postpartum

06.01.2022 Oh, I thought you were watching p*rn! (My husband just now) Haha.... No hubby. Just watching another beautiful home waterbirth video... Thing is, I can understand why he though that. Birth is wild. Intense. Intimate. And it can even be pleasurable. Birthing people can moan, breathe deeply, or be completely silent. Birth doesn’t have to look like what you see in the movies. It can be Calm. Exciting. Empowering. Beautiful. Org*smic. And the journey to having the birth of your dreams starts with education - understanding the birthing process, anatomy and hormones, trusting your body, and knowing your rights. I have three spaces left for my online Hypnobirthing Australia Positive Birth Program this October. It combines empowered birth education with self hypnosis, breathwork, mindset and gentle body work to support birth on your terms. DM me to reserve your spot.

04.01.2022 I have one last online Hypnobirthing and Empowered Childbirth Education Workshop happening this year. Will you be joining us?
