22.01.2022 We were ecstatic to hear that Australia's largest solar energy plant finally looks like going ahead. Located in Nyngan, North-West of Dubbo in NSW, the plant should be operation by 2015 and should produce enough energy for 50,000 homes. http://www.smh.com.au//agl-unveils-australias-biggest-sola

21.01.2022 this is a very interesting article from the SMH over the weekend. To quote, "Slowly but surely, renewable energy is eating into the business model of the fossil-fuel-burning energy generators". Do you like the sound of free installation of solar panels, a lengthy 10-year loans from the credit union to spread out your repayments and payback all based on the amount of power generated? Innovative business models for getting more panels are well underway.... 20.01.2022 We went along to a meeting of the Sydney chapter of the The Living Building Challenge (LBC) last night. The LBC is a green building certification program that defines the most advanced measure of sustainability in the built environment possible today. A very interesting and inspiring group of people, this could end up being something that we get involved with. We want to be at the forefront of designing and building sustainable houses, and this could help us get there. ... http://living-future.org/lbc

19.01.2022 Below is an image for a new project we have starting next month at Northbridge Sydney. The project is a complicated renovation and first floor addition with an Architect we know, Rena Czaplinska Archer. She has done an impressive job seemlesly slotting a first floor addition into a period home. She has worked hard to bring natural light and cross ventilation into the project to get it to perform as efficiently as possible.

19.01.2022 Our Gladesville house has been shortlisted in the 2014 BPN Sustainability Awards. It joins 14 other projects in the category for new single dwelling. http://www.architectureanddesign.com.au//2014-awards-final

18.01.2022 Here is a progress photo of our Bilgola project. The house is hidden away behind scaffolding at the moment whilst being 'transformed'.

16.01.2022 Well I guess the day had to come, IKEA are now selling and installing PV systems. http://www.smh.com.au//ikea-starts-selling-solar-panels-fo

15.01.2022 An recent OECD report has stated that carbon taxes and emissions trading schemes are the cheapest way to reduce carbon emissions, and thus should be at the centre of government efforts to tackle climate change. mmmm....does make you think. Where is the new government policy on tackling climate change actually going to lead us? http://www.thefifthestate.com.au/archives/56606/

08.01.2022 Have a look at Sharon's recent article on creating a green kitchen. http://yourabode.com.au//green-build/sustainable-kitchens/

08.01.2022 Sustainable House Day is coming up this Sunday 8 September. Sustainable House Day is your opportunity to go and visit an open sustainable house in your neighbourhood. We don't have one of our houses open this year, but there are plenty of others for you to go and visit. Go check some out.... http://greend.com.au/shd.html See more

07.01.2022 We went to an open house at last weekend at Tír na nÓg, the Wilkinson Award winning house by Drew Heath Architects. Very impressive and multilayed with a strong connection with he outdoors. Would likely be a cold house to live in during winter though. But as many people have said, "don't turn the heating on, just put on a thicker jumper".

07.01.2022 Unfortunately it was not to be our year. At the Greensmart awards presentation last Thursday we didn't come out winners, we were beaten by a Western Australian company. Making the National Final was no mean feat, so we will be back again next year to have another shot.

06.01.2022 Below is an image for a new project we have starting in the next few weeks at Bilgola Sydney. It is an extensive renovation of an existing house overlooking Bilgola Beach. The works include opening up the top floor of the house to improve light and ventilation as well improving the views to Bilgola Beach.... It will be an exiting project and we will keep you updated.

06.01.2022 Recently, two of our projects have won National awards. Our West Ryde renovation won the national HIA Greensmart Renovation of the year award and our Gladesville house won the Building Designers Association new residential building 251 to 350m2. We are very proud of winning these awards and want to thank our wonderful clients for trusting us with their projects.

04.01.2022 We are really please with how our renovation at West Ryde has come out. Great passive design on a difficult site, it should perform really well.

01.01.2022 Darryn will be speaking at the ATA Sydney branch on Tuesday 11 March about "pragmatic Sustainability'. Why not come along and see what he has to say. http://community.ata.org.au//sydney-c/calendar/2014/03/11/

01.01.2022 Here are some photos of our Gladesville project which is nearing completion. It has been a huge effort by everyone, especially our senior carpenter, Mark. We are ecstatic with how the project is turning out.
