25.01.2022 For the next 2 weeks my classes will have a focus on pranayama (the breath) and the different ways we can use it. Prana = life force Ayama = expansion The breath can have an impressive effect on our body and mind so we will be trying different techniques with the aim to build a long and subtle INhale, EXhale as well as retention. ... Matching our movement with the breath, the whole practice can be a meditative experience allowing our mind to focus and be calm. 17.01.2022 As some of you know I have been the Secretary of the Australasian Association of Yoga Therapists for the past year. It was a steep learning curve but it was a great opportunity to meet and work closely with a group of amazing people. At todays AGM my nomination for the role of President of the AAYT was accepted. I am proud to have the chance to continue to work alongside a great team and continue to lead the AAYT into the future supporting our members and helping to shout out and let everyone know the amazing benefits of Yoga Therapy right across Australasia. xx

08.01.2022 I love Mondays as I get to hang out at the park for a yoga therapy session with this legendary young man, Zayne! We work on ways to move in the opposite direction and s t r e t c h out with this modified front opening pose which, I am not sure if you can tell, he loves I also like to work with Zayne to help him relax and prepare for a good nights sleep by relieving tension from the day along with some particular timing of movements. ... Yoga therapy is such a great way to work with ALL individuals, encompassing the wellbeing of the whole person, where they are right now.

07.01.2022 We are seeking people who experience a disability who would be interested in participating in Yoga Therapy sessions at the start of January. Ellen Nash and I will be making ourselves available to hold 1-on-1 yoga therapy appointments specifically for people who experience a disability. Yoga Therapy is not just yoga. Yes we use the tools of yoga but each session includes a full assessment before developing a specialised yoga therapy program to suit each individuals specific ne...eds. Ellen is a highly experienced Yoga Therapist (and NDIS registered provider) from Brisbane and has a special interest in working with people with all disability, including but not limited to Cerebral Palsy, MS, brain injuries, Spina Bifida, Down Syndrome, spinal cord issues and more, with great results. As this will be professional development for me, these sessions will be at a highly reduced rates. 07.01.2022 This video shows a great example of hilarity.... (ahem) I mean what happens to your body when it is under stress. Notice the man looks relaxed walking up to the patio, but when he becomes a little nervous his shoulders move straight up to his ears! While we might have a little chuckle at this mans expense, we don't need a Halloween prank to have our shoulders near our ears and feeling our body's repercussions. Often we are under constant stress during our daily life eg hea...lth issues, job, deadlines, family issues etc lifting our shoulders near our ears for most of the day. This causes tension in the muscles of the neck and shoulders, can lead to headaches and jaw pain, grinding teeth and shortness of breath to name a few things. Yoga that is appropriate for our individual needs is a brilliant way to relieve tension in the upper back and neck and improve our mindset so that we are less effected by the stress in the first place. It doesn't need to be a long practice, even 20 minutes a day can be life changing!
