25.01.2022 You might already know this, but Youth Inc. doesnt stop even in school holidays! During these periods we run Recharge Week, a set aside time for students to tackle ideas, activities and projects for no other reason than because they want to. There is no assessment, no examination, no requirement - just the simple joy of opting into community with each other to learn new skills, experience different things and/or develop existing knowledge.... In this COVID-19 world, undertaking Recharge Weeks has been a little more challenging than usual but weve refused to even allow a global pandemic get in the way of a great experience. In maintaining our real-world, learning by doing philosophy, weve been partnering with friends in our community to support our students. Joel from Click Films has joined us for a DIY video production workshop (pictures), Sarah from Sarah Keane Designs workshopped ways for our students to remain creative at home and Oscar from The Red Robin has ensured students still know how to get their coffee fix from their own kitchen. Were incredibly grateful to these legends for partnering with our students and exploring what education can look like in this new set of circumstances.
24.01.2022 Over the course of 2019, eight Youth Inc. students planned and prepared themselves to travel abroad to Cambodia in January 2020. This international experience invited students to be part of something bigger than themselves. To do something they never thought they would or could. Across two weeks in-country, the team involved themselves in three critical experiences - 1. Cultural Immersion, 2. Adventurous Trek and 3. Community Development... We'd love for you to relive this journey with them.
23.01.2022 Our eleventh update which concludes our bike trek around Siem Reap! A bit of an insiders look at the cultural specifics of the homestay! #YICambodia2020

20.01.2022 Were thinking of everyone in our community - current students, alumni, business partners, not for profits, board members and of course, our staff during these different times. We recognise that for many, the uncertainty and changes have made it super tough. For others, its been an unexpected challenge to rethink how things can be done. As always, we remain committed to the wellbeing and growth of every young person we have the pleasure of engaging with. Recent weeks have pu...shed us all beyond our comfort zones and thats something that as an organisation, were excited by. Over the next week, following ongoing Government advice, were transitioning to an online/remote delivery model. Thats a big ask for a school that prides itself on real-world, learning by doing, experiential opportunities... but were confident that with our community, were up to it! We see huge potential here to continue to push the boundaries and shift the approaches of education. To create more pathways for young people to pursue their strengths and talents. To explore what it means to live a life of meaning and purpose in our new environments. If youre interested in assisting with this new adventure, wed love to chat. Of course, if there is any way that we can be of assistance to you, wed also love to hear from you. Lastly, nothing will stop us from offering the opportunity for other young people to join our new school design. Team 4 Enrolments will be opening soon, with a beginning date in July 2020. We can't wait. Stay in touch and stay safe. The Youth Inc. Team.

16.01.2022 Today is the National Day of Action, where hundreds of communities will join together to call on the Australian Government to Raise the Rate For Good. Now, as we confront what will be a long-term economic downturn, we cannot turn our backs on those who are at risk of being left behind. We cannot turn back to the brutality of people without paid work struggling to survive on the old Newstart rate of $40 per day.... Please join us in supporting this cause by signing the Raise the Rate statement here: https://raisetherate.org.au/ #RaiseTheRateForGood

15.01.2022 The recent CRC30 Children and Youth Statement identified five issues of concern to children and young people: 1. Children, young people and COVID-19 2. Climate change 3. Indigenous childrens rights... 4. Youth and citizenship 5. Mental health and resilience The statement also provides solutions that young people want to see done to meet these challenges. These solutions are underpinned by consultation with young people. If your work intersects with any of these areas, we welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can bring our voice and experiences to enrich statewide solutions.

14.01.2022 "While 66 per cent of young people were found to be taking steps to reduce their environmental impact... an overwhelming majority of survey respondents (90 per cent) said they did not feel heard by leaders in government." Young people have both the capacity and desire to be powerful agents of change. So how can we better design a system that acknowledges the voices of young people and the issues that matter to us in order to empower and engage a new generation of voters?

09.01.2022 The Consulting Team build on their strengths to tackle a diverse range of consulting opportunities. The team is strengthened by this foundation in traditional research methods, but, best of all, benefits from the fresh approach to data collection and thinking that can only come from the fresh perspective of young people.

07.01.2022 How do we create the enabling conditions for young people particularly young POC to engage in entrepreneurship? An interesting conversation started on tonights Q&A but by no means finished. Addressing the systemic disadvantage experienced by our emerging leaders takes a systemic approach starting with education.... Educational disadvantage is a reality faced by many young people - continuing the status quo will not reduce the disadvantage. Lets create a new way to learn!
