22.01.2022 The new rules regarding face masks have come into effect today. You must wear a mask that is fitted around the nose and mouth. You can no longer use only a scarf, bandana or just a face shield. Here is a helpful guide we have created, or, if in doubt, visit https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/face-masks-vic-covid-19... #COVID19 #melbournelockdown See more

22.01.2022 YouthNow Interns 1/9 I selected this image because it has a strong representation of Maori Culture. It translates the sharing of breath. The resemblance of two people connecting nose-to-nose, represents them embracing each other, respecting each other, and showing love to each other and their culture. Culture has a significant meaning, and so does this image because it shows cases the culture of Maori people.... Kayla.

20.01.2022 Some great reading about a man who believed in himself and embraced the support provided at YouthNow Manny* has been in Australia for approximately 12 months now. He joined one of YouthNows pathway programs in August 2019. Manny came from Africa as a refugee with his siblings to start a new life here. He also came with the drive to study & work hard, and face any challenges head on especially in understanding the requirements for working in Australia.... Within the year Manny completed a certificate I in English as an Additional Language at TAFE, and this year has progressed to certificate II. During that time, he was also able to secure some casual work as a cleaner through a friend of his familys and worked his way up to a Supervisor role. Unfortunately the company moved business across the other side of the city, and it became difficult for Manny to travel and work. Manny then decided to focus on his English studies. As Manny now had some casual work experience in Melbourne under his belt, it only took him just a few months to find another paid role as a labourer in a local refinery. In Mannys career tool box, he had his updated resume ready, interview practice Q&A and some referees from his previous job to vouch for him. According to Mannys Career Trainer; Manny is 100% focused on his work & training goals, always grabs the opportunity to learn even though he may not succeed at first, and, takes purposeful actions to keep himself moving forward albeit any hurdles ahead. Need some support with your career pathway? Contact YouthNow at [email protected] or *real name has not been used
20.01.2022 1/3 Amanda's Story Amanda* has been a participant in one of Youth Now's program since August 2019. Just this past week she scored a casual job as a private baby-sitter for a local professional family.... She has diligently been studying for her Diploma in Childcare, but was unable to find paid work to support herself during her studies. Amanda had previously done some casual fast food jobs in high school but as a young adult had lost some of her confidence to find work. Through her newly acquired program network, Amanda had the opportunity to do some casual administration work for a community organisation. Here she had the opportunity to build her verbal and written communication skills. After 8 months of career coaching & training, Amanda learnt to tailor her job documents, prepare for interviews, approach employers directly for work rather than just online, understand her work rights & how to know her rate of pay, and most importantly to keep persisting and trying new things to achieve her goals. Amanda became more aware of her unique skills sets & personality traits, and more certain about what she could offer an employer. Amanda is now looking for a second casual job, using the tools & techniques she has acquired from her time in the program. 09.01.2022 2/3 Laura's* Story At YouthNow we have witnessed the affects of Covid-19 & how it affected clients who have been made redundant from employment... As we are an essential service, we understand that urgent assistance from our young participants may be required after business hours or even on weekends hence we're always on standby. In the case of our participant Laura who had stumbled across a job ad via seek (to register today start tomorrow) through a recruitment agency. Laura did not have access to a computer to update her personal resume tailored for the specific role advertised. Transition to work officer spent time on a Saturday afternoon to re-format and update Laura's resume - and sent back client's updated resume for application. Laura sent through her application and was successful for the role with Linfox and started the next day on a Sunday!

09.01.2022 3/3 Mark's* Story Mark joined a YouthNow program in December 2019. With very basic skills and no training, Mark had limited employment prospects. Having family issues also presented major obstacles to finding and holding employment. Immediately prior to his referral he had been with another employment agency who had unsuccessfully tried to place him with numerous local Employers.... Mark acknowledged that in the past his participation with Employment Services was Non-attendance or low engagement. After initial appointment in December 2019 Mark started his pathway to employment by attending appointments with his case manager and together understanding what was stopping Mark from being engaged and scoring a job. Mark showed interest in working within the warehouse industry. Mark's case manager assisted him with preparing for interviews and utilising brokerage monies he was provided with work related clothing, petrol and phone credit. It has now been 4 months since Mark has been employed and the Employer provides amazing feedback about his performance and attitude towards work. Well done Mark !!

05.01.2022 **TESTIMONIAL FROM RADE** I became involved with YouthNow approximately 4 years ago after coming across a flyer for the programs at my local shopping center. I have a great interest in technology and thought it would be a good idea to undertake classes to learn more and have some social interaction, as I am a pensioner and spend most of my time at home. The best thing about this program is that the instructors are very warm, friendly and have the patience of a saint as I tend... to be a little slow in learning. They have no problem in taking the time to assist me and explain things 10 times over if necessary. They have given me the confidence needed to approach new tech and applications with ease. They have taken me through the gamut of available tech and apps on windows systems, apple, Samsung android products. You name it. I love my classes and CANNOT wait for Friday, so that I can learn something new. They really make learning fun! My biggest gripe is that the classes are too short! If only they were longer. I really love learning and the crew at YouthNow! Thank you for providing such a great course!
04.01.2022 YouthNow Interns 2/9 I chose this picture because it relates with me as well as my beliefs. No matter how hard the storm rages, be calm and trust in the lord. Justin
