23.01.2022 We often hear parents say things like I feel so guilty for having spoken a second language at home to my child. This must have caused my child confusion which has now made their language delayed. Learning two languages does not cause a language delay. Children who are learning two languages may mix the languages while talking, but this is normal and does not indicate a problem. ... Bilingualism actually has many benefits. Learning two languages can: 1. Improve a child's ability to communicate efficiently 2. Increase a child's sense of belonging and understanding to a culture and family heritage 3. Reduced incidence or later onset of dementia 4. Encourage healthier brain development 5. Increase career and job prospects 6. Give an academic advantage for children to learn and decipher information more effectively 7. Allow for ease of travel Learn more about bilingualism here www.youthrive.com.au/articles/why-bilingualism-matters/

23.01.2022 Did you know occupational therapy can help with your child's independence, self-care, and recreation and play? Occupational therapy helps children engage in a meaningful, positive and productive way in their daily occupations. You might say, not many kids I know have occupations. But by occupations, we mean all the jobs people do every day. For kids, these jobs include toilet training, dressing, engaging in class, making friends, taking turns, playing games and followi...ng household routines. However, when a child has a delay, difficulty or disability, it can be hard for them to do these everyday jobs. Click below to learn more about occupational therapy, including the warning signs that might indicate your child should see an occupational therapist.
