21.01.2022 ANNUAL NATIONAL YOUTH WEEK EVENT- MENDOORAN: On 21 September 2020 the first Warrumbungle Shire Youth Week 2020 Event was held in Mendooran, having been postponed in April due to COVID restrictions. A Youth vs Police vs Teachers Touch Football Competition was held in Mendooran which was the 7th year it has taken place. 39 Players and many spectators enjoyed a great afternoon of footy. After three games the Teachers team were the winners of the competition. NSW Police Assistant Commissioner, Geoff McKechnie, originally from Mendooran, was in attendance. He participated in the games and presented the winning trophies and Best and Fairest Player from each team. Geoff also presented Mendooran Central School student Aisha Konza with his Challenge medal in recognition of her commitment and organisation of the Youth Team.

Have fun!... This page will be coordinated by our Community Services Connections Officer and other relevant staff to engage and inform young people of online campaigns, current issues and health and wellbeing options available with a focus on local content. 19.01.2022 2020 YOUTH SURVEY: Calling all young people aged 15-19 years old! The 2020 Youth Survey is Australia’s largest annual survey of young people aged 15-19 years and is now open. Taking part in the Youth Survey helps organisations, government, schools and community advocate for policies and programs to support young people and allow their voices to be heard. 17.01.2022 CAPTURE THE COSMOS: Astrophotography competition is now open for 2020. There are impressive prizes to win from taking photos of our amazing Warrumbungle night sky and there is now a youth award for each category!

14.01.2022 COONABARABRAN SKATEPARK PAINTING: Community members of Coonabarabran are invited to come and participate in the painting of the Coonabarabran Skatepark on Friday 28 August 2020 from 1:00pm until 5:30pm and Saturday 29 August 2020 from 10:00am to 12:00noon (weather permitting) Light refreshments will be provided. Paints, brushes, silhouettes of various sporting activities such as BMX riders, footy players and skate boarders, tennis/netballers and a range of word templates will all be provided. This is a collaborative partnership of Coonabarabran YARN Support Connect and Warrumbungle Shire Council. 01.01.2022 NATIONAL YOUTH WEEK EVENT - SHOOTING HOOPS COMPETITION On Friday 25 September 2020 Mackillop Family Services in partnership with Centacare, organised a fun filled afternoon to celebrate National Youth Week 2020. Funded by Warrumbungle Shire Council Youth Week Small Grants program the Coonabarabran Youth were able to take part in a Skate Skills competition and Shooting Hoops competition. Connor Worth won the Skatepark tricks prize, and Nick Wham-Campbell was the shooting hoops champ.
