21.01.2022 Welcome Back to 2020 Some of What We Have Discovered, Learnt, Explored and Created. We used rollers to do some roller painting & we discovered the different marks on the rolllers made different patterns. We individually blew bubbles and could tell which direction the wind was blowing by the way the bubbles floated. We took turns pushing each other on the swing and sang up and down as we pushed. They organised the team pushing and turn taking themselves. There was a lot of ...laughter and big smiles as they talked about the height they were swinging. We found a colourful rock and hid it in the garden. We each drew a Treasure Map to direct us to where the treasure was hidden. They used coloured pencils to mark the different areas in the yard and symbols and patterns to indicate obstacles. X marked the spot. Everyone worked well as a team as they went on their Treasure Hunt which we continued over in the Kindy Yard. We used the large sit on digger to make holes in the sandpit. Which one was bigger, smaller? We mixed Two colours of playdough to make a Third colour and used cutters to make different patterns in the soft dough. They used the tweezers to pick up the pom poms and matched the colours to the colours in the egg cartons. We used the foam shapes in the messy tray to build tall towers. the large castle shaped buckets to make large sand castles. Everyone jumped up and down and squashed the sandcastles. We had a real adventure exploring outside. We found a lot of different coloured leaves. They were red, yellow, brown, speckled, green, red small, big, long, short, smooth, rough, crinkly and the list goes on. They children used so many descriptive words and everyone contributed to the conversation. The new toy babies were popular. We added little tubs and washes so the babies could be bathed. They were well taken care of. They were fed, changed, burped, rocked, bathed played with and tickled. We pushed the large cars and trucks down the hill to see which way they would go. Some veered off the path, others rolled the whole way down to the sandpit. Some went fast and some went slow. We discovered a large branch that had blown down last night in the storm. The branch had all different shaped, sized and coloured leaves. We took the branch inside as we liked the colours and the patterns on the leaves. Each of the children took a tray and we went downstairs to see if we could find some matching leaves. There were some really interesting conversations as everyone expressed how they thought how and when the branch had fallen down. The children choose thin brushes and yellow paper to create sparkly paintings using paint mixed with glitter. They reflected on how they moved the brushes to paint. Up, down, swirly, spinning, around and spotting. We talked about how they used their whole arm for long lines on the paper and just their wrist for short line. It has been such a wonderful couple of weeks.

17.01.2022 Imaginative play is a wonderful way to develop a child's imagination, to take on the role of another. ... Through dramatic play, children will explore different roles or characters. We have had dentists, engineers, artists, carers musicians, chefs, scientists, mothers, fathers, teachers, vets, caterers, nurses, labourers, wild animals, emergency service personnel and environmentalists as some of the roles, professions and characters that the children have imitated during play. What fun we are having. # playbasedlearningisthebest. Come and visit us.

13.01.2022 When children pretend, they are using their imagination to move beyond the bounds of reality as they are developing and learning A stick can be a magic wand. A sock can be a puppet. A small child can be a super hero. It is an amazing thing to observe. ... So much fun.... So much learning. See more

10.01.2022 If you’ve been told to self-isolate, that means you need to stay home for 14 days, practice good hygiene and avoid public contact. Here is a quick video from the Dept of Health that gives a good overview of what that means. https://twitter.com/i/status/1239392121947336704

04.01.2022 What a wonderful Five Weeks it has been. Full of fun experiences, friendships and play based learning. *Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. Play is important to healthy brain development. It is through play that children at a very early age engage and interact in the world around them. Here are some photos of the fun learning experiences we have all been involved in. Enjoy
