25.01.2022 Centella asiatica - commonly known as Gotu kola. A wonderful herb and easy to grow in your garden or on the window sill as I have it here. Native to the Asian ...wetlands although ancient Ayurvedic, African and Chinese Medicine also refer to its use. It has so many actions - adaptogen, alterative, detoxifer, relaxant nervine, diuretic, peripheral vasodilator, nervous system tonic, CNS relaxant, vulnerary, venotonic, anti-inflammatory, bitter, digestive, laxative, connective tissue builder and more! We use it as a revitalizing herb that strengthens nervous system function & memory. It improves blood flow to the brain via cerebral blood circulation. It is also used in skin conditions & wound healing, promotes the repair of connective tissue including hair and nails, and again so much more! In clinic we use it for a variety of course in true herbal medicine use I encourage clients to grow some and eat a leaf or two each day. #herbalmedicine #ancientherbsmodernmedicine #naturopathbrisbane #herbalist #earthmedicine See more

25.01.2022 Thursdays are a big day for my children as we attend co-op. The day is full and they need good sustenance for their body mind and spirit. Of course, as a Natur...opath and mum it is a priority to provide good quality food to fuel them. This was todays selection:: We started the day with scrambled egg on spelt toast with a good dash of butter. Then during the day :: Fresh coloured fruit and vege (see pic). Leftover protein from dinner - chicken & paleo sausage. Good quality fats - avocado & hummus. Slow release carbs - fried rice with veges. Served cold so the rice contributes to healthy bacterial growth in the gastrointestinal tract. Coconut water because it was very hot. Fermented veges. . The children ate everything and then snacked on apples and cashews on the way home. Why am I telling you this? Well... I want you to know that when we are busy and living a full life it is possible to eat well! We dont need to buy quick foods ( which are devoid of anything beneficial) and our children will actually eat good food. In fact they will love it! They will thrive on it. Heres a few tips if you are wanting to transition your family to healthier eating:: eat seasonal - whats growing now in your local region? adapt to your environment. If its crazy hot outside eat cooling goods like cucumber and watermelon. Or, if the weather is cold eat warming foods like soups. add good quality fats and eliminate the bad ones. Do add in olive oil, butter/ghee and get rid of vegetable oils and processed fats like canola. add some protein yo your meals and choose the best quality possible. eat your meals when you feel calm and relaxed. Dont eat when you feel anxious or stressed. Tune in. Listen to whats going on within and adapt accordingly. . You have the power to be well and thrive , , #bewell #brisbanenaturopath #foodismedicine #naturalmedicine #healthylifestyle #nutritioncoach #nutritionist

23.01.2022 So much gorgeous fresh turmeric. Im going to blitz it up with garlic, onion, black pepper and olive oil, then gently toss it in a warm pan before storing in a ...glass jar. Did you know that the addition of the black pepper and oil helps to absorb and metabolise the active components of turmeric?. A little bit goes a long way. Adding a moderate amount of fresh turmeric to your cooking (along with the oil and black pepper) is actually one of the best ways to reap the long term benefits of this incredible rhizome. Another interesting fact - in India turmeric paste is used externally for treating a range of skin conditions. . . #turmericbenefits #traditionalherbalmedicine #naturalhealthrevolution #ancientwisdom #brisbanenaturopath #nutritionistbrisbane #naturopathicmedicine #healyourbody #earthmedicine #wisdom #herbalmedicine #herbalistbrisbane #womenshealthcoach #nutritionaltherapy #foodismedicine #eatyourmedicine See more

21.01.2022 Essential oils have a place in health and wellbeing. They are great when used in a diffuser or for cleaning purposes BUT when taken internally they are causing a lot of damage to the microbiome and are making people sick! Before you or your family start taking the oils internally please have a read of this article - its a great overview, a quick read and a good place to start when learning about the oils industry.

19.01.2022 Enjoying my cacao and coffee as the sun rises today. Long gone are the all night parties and hyped expectations of the changing year. Instead, hubby and I have... created a tradition of family connection and a good nights sleep! So on the first day of the year we rise early feeling fresh and ready........ Listening to the birds and the quiet hum of the neighbourhood. For me, contemplating the passing year - gosh it was difficult at times but as always this turbulence has been the catalyst for some big changes, both internally and within the physical world. And as my little family stirs and the new year begins I give a quiet Thankyou to the forces of life, for ALL the experiences and feelings and to this delicious feeling of excited anticipation for what lies ahead. 2019....... here we come . , #happynewyear2019 #cacaoceremony #gratefulheart #excitedanticipation

18.01.2022 Castor Oil from the seed of the Ricinus communis plant is an important part of both our home medicine cabinets. It has a large number of healing benefits due... to its unique chemical composition. This pale yellow oil is comprised of fatty acids, 90% ricinoleic acid (an unsaturated Omega-9 found only in trace amounts in other seeds), as well as oleate & linoleates. It can be taken internally or used topically. Applying castor oil packs to your abdominal area increases the bodys absorption of the oil. If you have never tried using a castor oil pack we recommend taking the time to do one. For instructions on how to make a castor oil pack https://www.pureelemental.com.au/castor-oil-packs/ Used traditionally for centuries as a remedy for treating skin conditions, supporting hair health, infections & constipation, more recent studies have shown it is has antimicrobial & anti-inflammatory properties, is a lymphatic stimulant and supports immunity. Its key uses are for: *Skin Conditions stimulates collagen & elastin, reduces acne & psoriasis. *Hair Growth strengthens & thickens hair as well as encouraging hair growth. *Infections promotes wound healing. *Constipation Relief acts as a powerful laxative. *Immune System Support it supports lymphocyte production. Lymphocytes are a white blood cell found in the bodys immune system which attack perceived threats to the body and outside invaders like bacteria and toxins. *Anti-Inflammatory Agent helps to reduce pain due to menstrual cramps, fibroids, cysts & endometriosis, as well as pain in joints & muscles. *Antimicrobial & Antifungal support helps with conditions such as ringworms, candida, skin infections, cuts & scratches. *Lymphatic Stimulant supports lymphatic drainage, increased blood flow and removal of toxins & other waste from the body.

04.01.2022 Parenting is hard enough but these days there is an added expectation (predominantly through social media), placed on parents and in particular mothers, to mana...ge their babys routines easily and capably. We are all individuals and everyones experience of parenthood is an individual one. Our journey through parenthood is not the same as anyone elses. We need to find out what is right for us and receive advice only if we ask for it. "The truth is that our western parenting culture got a little off track in the last hundred and fifty years. We no longer recognise the normal and healthy biological needs of children, day and night. We no longer recognise the importance of the fourth trimester and its ability to protect a new mothers mental health. We no longer recognise how to help, in the way that mothers truly need. And thats okay. We cant undo the past, but we can learn from it. And we can rewrite the future. We can be curious. We can learn. We can question".

03.01.2022 Yes! And if they dont..... then get a new circle

02.01.2022 As a (sadly) much needed #nobullying #noviolence campaign takes stride today theres something that needs to be said. Kindness starts with you. We place a lot ...of importance on how we treat others ( rightly so!) but I often see less awareness around how we treat ourself. Our physical body and our inner self. Do we eat wholesome nourishing foods and drinks, or move our body to support its physical strength and power? How does that inner voice talk? Is it kind & gentle like when you talk to a small child, or is it harsh, critical, judgemental or with unrealistic expectations? If we want to steer society back on course and away from dysfunctional bullying and violence then we absolutely MUST start with ourself. The #revolution starts with you! #bekindtoyourself #startaninnerrevolution #bekindalways #loveyourselffirst #fillyourcup #lovewins #innerhealth #mentalhealthmatters #awarenessfostersgrowth See more
