21.01.2022 There is much discussion about whether or not we are being more selfish (as in the hoarding of certain foods and necessities) or whether we are being more generous.(as in random acts of kindness). I feel that our business has seen a bit of both over the last few weeks, we have had the demanding positively rude customers whom we have still done everything we can to give them the best service. Why? because none of us know what is going on their lives to make them behave the way... they have and their struggle may be larger than ours. On the other hand we have had one of our long term customers confide that as seniors and with health conditions they are unable to go out shopping and when they have ordered on line shopping the toilet paper never arrived. They were forced to use table napkins as a last result and this had blocked their drains. It didnt require a lot of effort on my side to source some toilet rolls and deliver them but the appreciation and gratitude was worth every second of my time. Please lets think of the seniors in our community who are afraid to go out, not just for supplies but maybe they just need a check in so they can see a friendly face this will really help their mental state. We do a concession rate for seniors and are always willing to go the extra mile to help out. "Its that easy call Zambezi" 08 9361 7665.

11.01.2022 Interesting Plumbing inventions - Back flow devices Back flow happens when your water stops flowing the correct way and instead goes backwards. It is dangerous because used water, like water from the toilet or water from the washing machine can potentially enter the drinking water supply. The invention of back flow devices ensures that the dirty water only flows one way and our drinking water remains safe. Back flow devices are required to be tested by a licensed technician every 12 months.
11.01.2022 By now all your sprinklers should be turned off for winter. Did you know... by switching our sprinklers off and letting the rain take care of our gardens, we collectively save a whopping 5 billion litres of water; enough to fill 2,000 Olympic sized swimming pools.
10.01.2022 When was the last time you had your Hot Water Unit anodes checked? If you cant remember it might be time. Regular anode replacement ensures your water heater continues to operate as intended and lasts longer therefore saving you money in the long term. Anodes are steel core rods installed at the top of the hot water tanks during production to prevent rust and corrosion. The rods are surrounded by either magnesium, aluminium or zinc.... Also known as sacrificial anodes, through electrolysis, the rod will be spent instead of the water heaters exposed steel through a process called electrolysis. It protects the metal from rusting. Electrolysis occurs when the two pieces of submerged metal rod react to a voltage. Once the anode has fully corroded it fails to protect the tank which will start to deteriorate. In time, a rusting water heater will cause problems which are typically more expensive to repair than simply replacing the anode. https://zambeziplumbing.com.au/services/hot-water-systems/ To book your Hot Water Unit service call 9361 7665.. 06.01.2022 Why not spend the ANZAC Day public holiday baking some delicious Anzac biscuits. INGREDIENTS 1 1/4 cups plain flour, sifted 1 cup rolled oats... 1/2 cup caster sugar 3/4 cup desiccated coconut 150g Unsalted butter, chopped 2 tablespoons golden syrup or treacle 1 1/2 tablespoons water 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda METHOD Step 1 Preheat oven to 170C. Place the flour, oats, sugar and coconut in a large bowl and stir to combine. Step 2 In a small saucepan place the golden syrup and butter and stir over low heat until the butter has fully melted. Mix the bicarb soda with 1 1/2 tablespoons water and add to the golden syrup mixture. It will bubble whilst you are stirring together so remove from the heat. Step 3 Pour into the dry ingredients and mix together until fully combined. Roll tablespoonfuls of mixture into balls and place on baking trays lined with non stick baking paper, pressing down on the tops to flatten slightly. Step 4 Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.

04.01.2022 Blocked drains are a common household issue, something that can just sneak up when you least expect it. Blocked drains an range from overflowing gullys, slow draining bathroom drains and kitchen sinks to gurgling and rising toilets. In addition to rendering the drains useless, blocked drains can cause unpleasant smells, leaks and even flooding so its best they are dealt with as soon as possible. Here are some handy tips to help prevent your drains from blocking:... Dont pour oils, grease and fat down the drain Seems simple right? Pouring oil/ fats down the kitchen sink is the most common cause of blockages to the kitchen sink. By pouring oils, grease and fats into a disposable container or mopping it up with paper towel to dispose of it in the rubbish bin will leave your kitchen sink flowing nicely. Bin it! Dont Flush it Toilets are not rubbish bins, bodily waste and toilet paper are the only things that should be flushed down the toilet. Not feminine hygiene products, cotton balls, paper towels, baby or cleaning wipes, these products should all be placed in the rubbish bin. Install Drain Strainers These trap hair, food and other debris, preventing them entering the drains. You Cant Stop Mother Nature Regularly clearing drains using a drain machine, clears out any tree roots that have penetrated drain pipes, saving you those inconvenient blocked drains. (We recommend every 6-12 months) PL:6956
