20.01.2022 Zanshin Martial Arts has introduced an easy to use QR Code to register attendees at all Zanshin dojos. The use of the QR Code Attendance Register will ensure Zanshin Martial Arts remains compliant with State/Territory COVID safety requirements and Zanshin's commitment to the health of our Zanshin community and COVID Safety Plan. The QR Code Attendance Register is easy to use. Just open the camera on your mobile device and point it at the QR Code. The printed QR code will be o...n the instructor's desk. 15.01.2022 Happy New Year and welcome to 2021. Soshi and the Instructors' trust you all enjoyed a safe and relaxing festive season break. Zanshin Martial Arts recommences training at most dojos from Monday 4 January 2021 onwards.

14.01.2022 Ai Ki Open Class Once a year we open our Ai Ki class to all senior students and the many who participated in the class preceding the Dan Grading thoroughly enjoyed it. The open Ai Ki class is something students don’t normally get to attend until you are a brown belt, and it afforded a wonderful opportunity to experience the training that our Black belts do. Soshi and the Renshi’s ran various activities in groups to provide an all-round and safe experience of the type of advanced training Brown belts and above do. Many students got to try arm locks, rolling, blending and weapons training for the first time! It was exhilarating. Please tag or share

13.01.2022 Congratulations to Steve Moore and Alistair Phillips, Zanshin's newest black belts. It's been a long time coming and a lot of sweat and focus to reach this point. It is well deserved! #zantastic #zanshingrading #zanshin #zanshinma #karatecanberra #martialartscanberra #paulmurdoch44 Paul Murdoch

12.01.2022 The 2020 Zanshin instructors photo was taken at the Dan grading. We are truly fortunate to have a dedicated group of over 20 instructors who help Zanshin continue to thrive in the Canberra/ Queanbeyan region. Zanshin instructors always strive to bring out the best in their students. All of our instructors started as Zanshin students. An enormous amount of satisfaction comes from instructing. Soshi is always keen to develop our future cadre of instructors. So if you are interested in becoming an instructor please speak with Soshi.

10.01.2022 Zanshin Martial Arts Instructor Service Awards The continued success of Zanshin Martial Arts depends on the dedication of Zanshin Martial Arts’ Instructors. Instructor Service Awards were presented by Soshi at the Dan Grading to three dedicated and committed Instructors: 10-year service award to Sensei James Corbett (Queanbeyan Central Dojo). Sensei James is one of Zanshin’s most popular and energetic instructors. Sensei James started instructing as a 16-year old an...d has continued throughout motivating a huge number of students, including several who are now instructors themselves. 5-year service award to Sensei Bruce Kinsman (Coombs Dojo). Sensei Bruce, our oldest instructor, started instructing junior classes at Conder Dojo. He then ventured into new territory starting-up Coombs Dojo for junior and senior classes where class numbers and the population continue to swell. 5-year service award to Sensei Steve Hledik (Googong Dojo). Sensei Steve began Zanshin to support his daughters’ who were training. He found he loved it. He too ventured into new territory starting-up Googong Dojo for junior and senior classes. The strength of Googong Dojo continues grow as more families move into the area. Good instructors, like these three, continue to help all Zanshin students’ progress. Opportunities exist for any senior students to become an assistant instructor at over 20 Zanshin Dojos throughout the region. The mentoring and guidance you will receive as an assistant will give you the confidence to become an instructor. The effort is worth the reward in seeing your own students develop to their full potential.

08.01.2022 Zanshin Dan Grading on November 1st has had a change of venue to the PCYC Erindale Centre. This new location will allow us to have more students and spectators attend within COVID Safe limits. 10AM Open Ai Ki Class 11AM Dan Grading... PCYC Erindale Centre 17 Grattan Circuit, Wanniassa

08.01.2022 Eight newly promoted Zanshin Dan Grades The Zanshin Dan Grading on Sunday 1st November 2020 was the grading many thought we may not get to have due to COVID-19, but we made it. What a fantastic grading! Once a year eligible Zanshin Black Belts and higher grades participate in the Zanshin Dan Grading. We were fortunate to secure the Erindale PCYC for the 2020 Dan Grading. The venue afforded a big enough floor space, with mats for rolling and throwing, to enjoy seeing eight Gra...ding applicants’ successfully grade, many Zanshin Club members participate and partner for the Dan Grading applicants, and space for spectators and family members to watch. With eight Dan Grading applicants in action it was the largest ever Zanshin Dan Grading. It says a lot about the strength of Zanshin Martial Arts at the higher grades and how much students are enjoying the training delivered. Congratulations to Renshi Drew Wilkinson, now promoted to 4th Dan. Congratulations to Sensei Mick Porter and Sensei Steve Hledik, now both promoted to 2nd Dan. Five Black Belts are now promoted to 1st Dan and will soon get to wear their Hakamas. Congratulations to: Sensei Renee Bill, Sensei Rachel Santos, Sensei Mark Edmonds, Bhavna Varma and Nicholas Dale. Dedication and an enormous amount of training (many years) went in to preparing for the Dan Grading. During the COVID-19 lockdown, they continued to train on their own to maintain their fitness. Training, and many years of it, starts now for the next challenge. The newly promoted Dan Grades are very thankful for their instructors’ efforts teaching the many techniques, along with the club’s other students who week after week trained in the Ai Ki class to Uke (partner) for them.

08.01.2022 A fantastic December senior belts grading to finish off 2020! Congratulations to Parveze Kutar, Zanshin Martial Arts' newest black belt. Parveze showed the determination she is known for to earn her black belt while carrying a serious injury. Parveze is another example of the strength in our women's senior ranks. Zanshin Martial Arts wishes Parveze all the best as she departs Australia to live in Canada. Across the Zanshin Martial Arts club, over 300 senior and junior students graded at our Northside and Southside gradings. Congratulations to all those who successfully graded this weekend.
