22.01.2022 ZAR CHRISTMAS WRAP UP IS NOW UP ON YOUTUBE! Watch us talk some smack and wrap the year up Happy New Year, see you all in 2021!

21.01.2022 I woke up one morning 8 years ago, completely unaware that by the end of that day, everything in my life would be turned upside down. My left leg had been dragging behind me for a few days; Id lost feeling in my left hand & arm & I felt so very, very tired. But Id been feeling crappy for months... And the migraines... urggh. All the same, I considered being sent off to the ER a bit extreme. Within hours, the docs were suggesting stroke or MS & by the next morning, the neur...ologists were declaring MS the winner. I declined pretty rapidly from there & ended up spending a month in hospital, learning how to walk again & do simple things like use a knife & fork. I still couldnt think straight. I couldnt comprehend how I found myself suddenly having to live with an incurable disease. . A month later I moved into my new apartment & as I was unpacking boxes, I felt a lump on my breast. I was a bit cavalier. Id just been diagnosed with MS, theres no way anything else could happen. 48 hours later Im having a biopsy & being told by oncologists that I did, indeed, have breast cancer. The look in their scared & pity-filled eyes said it all. I was not bulletproof. . So at 42 years old, I was making inconceivable decisions. Essentially I had to pick a disease to fight. 6 surgeries, 6 months of chemo, 30 rounds of radiotherapy & 5 years of daily cancer drugs later, I consider myself cancer free. I cant treat my progressive MS with disease modifying therapies, but I can treat it with diet & exercise. Exercise is my biggest weapon against MS. I rarely walk with a walking stick any longer & I have better energy, coordination & strength. And I owe my resilient mental health to exercise... . I am grateful to learn so young that I wasnt bulletproof & to pull my life apart & recreate it with the next 40 years in mind. I wish I didnt live with the daily challenges of MS, but I wouldnt change anything about my life . @jwksmith See more

21.01.2022 My weight loss journey started 12 years ago when I had my stomach band done. At 21 years old, I was 156kg and a completely different person to who I am today. I was quiet and low key, yet I had a huge presence. All I could think of was drop the weight and things will change. I quickly realised that no matter how big or how small I was, that being a confident and productive person was not going to happen unless I chose to change my mentality and change the way I thought. We...ight loss gave me the ability to not be scared, but I still had to step out of my comfort zone. I work in hospitality which enabled me to communicate more with people. This I found very daunting at the start, especially as someone who had low confidence. Today when I walk into a restaurant I am the first person to say hi and will always leave with a thank you and a goodbye. Even if I did not enjoy the experience, it is a mark of respect and perhaps the person who served me was having a off day. I am 32 now and I still struggle with my weight but my confidence is sky high. I dont feel as though I am successful as a person yet but I try to be better every day and I know that that will get me closer ... as Denzel Washington said .. "Dont aspire to make a living, aspire to make a difference

11.01.2022 Missabittatitti, my life changed for the better. The training has resulted in making me stronger than I would have ever thought possible and this strength has enabled me to train up to five times a week on the Brisbane river in order to compete as a sports paddler with Brisbane River Dragons. I have competed at local regattas, state championships, national championships and world championships, all within the last five years. This has included gold medals at two world ch...ampionships. . Earlier this year I was selected for both the sports teams and breast cancer survivor teams to compete at the next Club Crew World Championships in France. Unfortunately, this has now been cancelled. Im still paddling on the river though and enjoying a post workout coffee by Zars barista. . I am grateful that team MIssabittatitti keeps me from taking things too seriously. Many life-long friendships have been made. I have had heaps of fun and adventure, travelling in Australia, Florence, Hungary, and New Zealand to compete, while embracing life and always remembering I can do this. . To support my travel to competition, I started a side-business selling long-lasting cosmetics and skincare. Check me out @lippiesbylinda See more

08.01.2022 ZAR YOGA NOW ON w/ THE AMAZING @nica.yogicoach Besides helping you to feel great, Yoga has a variety of physical, mental and emotional benefits: Physical ... You dont need to be flexible to practise Yoga. Practising Yoga Asanas (postures) encourages flexibility by lengthening and strengthening the muscles. Yoga can help you release tight hips, hamstrings and shoulders to name a few. Youll experience a greater range of motion and build strength at the same time. Mental The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root word Yuj which means to join, yoke or unite. Yoga connects the breath with the body and leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the Universal Consciousness. This connection of breath and body helps to clear mental space to alleviate stress and tension. Emotional Did you know emotions are physically stored in different areas of the body? Yoga postures can assist in releasing these emotions, almost like acupressure and Chinese meridian points. Check out our timetable for times! See more

07.01.2022 When I arrived at Zar Athletica, to say I was frustrated is an understatement. After years of intense training through competitive soccer, CrossFit or conventional weights, I hit a wall. Any progress I tried to make was being halted by a series of niggling injuries; chronic neck and back tightness to the point where I was going for remedial massages multiple times a week as well as seeing an osteopath. I would train for 2-3 weeks, be out for 1-2 weeks. It was a cycle that co...ntinued for almost 3 years. I stopped playing soccer, which I had played for 2 decades and was becoming progressively sedentary. Something had to be done. I joined Zar in January. That is when Svet and Darko began unpacking my approach to training, dialling it all the way back so I could start rebuilding from the ground up again. Learning that ‘less is more’, not going into every session with high intensity, and introducing Pilates and Mobility consistently into my training program. Gradually, over time, the injuries dried up and I was back training 5 times a week, consistently. I cut the weight I had packed on over the last 2 years and became leaner and stronger. They boys emphasised the importance of a well-balanced diet and connected me with a dietitian to address it. For years I would eat well 4/5 days a week, then cave at social events and on weekends. I realised I could no longer ‘out-train’ this approach. Equipped with better training and eating habits, the progress I am making today in my body and healthy lifestyle transformation has surprised even me. See more
