Covid has pushed us into lockdown, and it has given perpetrators a new weapon to abuse and isolate women and children. Restrictions have given perpetrators the power to do as they wish, behind closed doors without fear. Cases... of Domestic family violence in Australia have dramatically accelerated to an alarming figure because of COVID lockdown. Most of the Domestic Violence service providers reported a 67% increase in new clients seeking help during the pandemic. Along with the numbers, the severity of abuse has worsened as DV agencies reported an increase in controlling and coercive behaviors. This upsurge in family domestic violence during COVID-19 is being called the SHADOW PANDEMIC.
