20.01.2022 I'm running my Diving into D&I session this Wednesday at 12 noon (AEST or GMT+10) . It's an awesome introductory session if you've been tasked with creating or revamping a D&I strategy in your organisation (or just want to learn more!). I step you through the key things I learned (and spent days researching) when I created a brand spanking new D&I program for a large national organisation.... My aim in the session is to: 1) save you time; 2) fill you with confidence; and 3) simplify your path to D&I success! ' . It's NAIDOC week, and to honour that I've set up an optional donation for Literacy For Life Foundation which is an Indigenous led charity that trains Indigenous people to encourage literacy in their communities. , ' ! 20.01.2022 Perfect song to rock out to and reflect on the Biden + Harris victory! This is the first time Elliott has deliberately danced (the packet of yoghurt treats he ate while waiting for Santa photos might explain it...) so it was a cute moment for any concerned citizens, we are parked in our driveway.

19.01.2022 Welcome to your weekly #HotHRTips! This week I'm talking about the fourth C in the Deloitte Inclusive Leadership Model; Curiosity. The Cliff Notes TLDR version of Curiosity:... ) : to new ideas, to hearing about people's loved experiences, to learning about stuff (especially if it challenges you). ) : don't just hear but also synthesize information. Put yourself in the shoes of others and experience and display genuine empathy. ) : consult broadly, review regularly, ask lots of questions, adapt and course correct. ?? Well it's NAIDOC week, perhaps you can seek out and engage in activities that increase your understanding of the First Nations experience and culture and share that with your team? #QuestForZest #InclusiveLeadership #DandI #InclusiveLeaders #BetterWorkplaces #PeopleManagement #PeopleBetter #NAIDOC

19.01.2022 Sunday morning spent recording #HotHRTips videos using the brilliant free CuePrompter platform. Life changed when I found this little beauty!!

18.01.2022 Honestly, my biggest wins for today are dissuading Little E from wanting a 'nayse' (mayonnaise) sandwich for breakfast & somehow enticing him into the car to daycare with a crafty iPad/iPhone combo... Larger scale wins felt out of reach until I sat down with a coffee and focused my mind. . ... I helped a connection finish her year on a high with a literal flood of kind comments on my #GetFlocked post last week. I've had a few connections reach out to talk about ways of working together in the New Year which is so exciting and confidence building. I sought help (rare for me) and asked for some feedback on my Fertility Support policy from some trusted advisors and have been blown away with their feedback and support. I also reached out to a lesser known connection to see if they could help a JFA candidate I'm coaching & boy did they ever deliver! So, #WinWallChallenge time: , , ?? Helping, or allowing someone to help you, truly is a gift that costs nothing. #QuestForZest #AttitudeOfGratitude #Thankful #PowerOfConnection #PositivityI

18.01.2022 Hosted my first ever run through of my Birdwatching@Work session for some of my amazing connections today. Can’t wait to gather their feedback so I can finesse it further! If you’re interested in a fun but impactful session that can improve relationships in your team, PM me and find out more about this brilliant introductory session!

16.01.2022 It’s Wednesday friends!! And that means another dose of #WinWall is coming at you!! I feel a bit out of sorts at the moment as I took some time out last week and actually booked 2 nights at a resort with a friend. It was SO nice to have a change of scenery and some kid-free time (browsing art galleries is MUCH more relaxing without a toddler running around!). I sipped hot coffees, ate meals without interruption, savoured glasses of wine, enjoyed seamless conversations and s...tayed up past 7:30pm! Bliss! Sadly, I did come back into a solo parenting situation so many of the benefits faded more quickly than I hoped!! So the early part of this week has been a little challenging to re-find my groove. I actually put one some of my old corporate wardrobe and even put some make up on today to feel a little more ‘work-y’ and so far so good! Take 5 minutes today to reflect on the great stuff you experienced last week, and may the rest of your week be productive and happy! #QuestForZest #EverydayGratitude #CelebratingSmallStuff #SelfCoaching #WorkingMums #EntrepreuneurialMums #SelfMotivation #CelebrateYourself #SmallWinsBigAchievements

15.01.2022 The Inclusive Leadership #HotHRTips keep rolling this week as we step into the final C in the model: Collaboration A team with an inclusive culture is a team that relies on one another for support and success, and that’s really what this final component discusses.... You can’t be an inclusive leader if you aren’t inviting and enabling the contributions of others right? Deloitte breaks Collaboration up into 3 parts: Empowerment: this involves setting clear expectations, allowing employees to make decisions for themselves and to be held accountable for their actions. It’s the difference between ‘managing’ and ‘leading’. Teaming: are the deliberate actions you take as a leader to ensure diversity & inclusion is embedded in the formation and function of your team; including how your team engages in constructive conflict. Voice: this relates to you using your voice to encourage inclusion but also listening to the voices of others when they speak up. It involves deep listening, great questioning and amplifying others. I provide more detail in my video. There was a lot of ground to cover in this part of the model so run time is longer at 11 minutes. But please check it out if you can! Next week I’ll wrap up the entire model into one neat package (I hope!) before we move on to a new and exciting HotHRTips series in early December. #InclusiveLeadership #6Cs #InclusiveWorkplaces #LeadershipSkills #PeopleBetter #PeopleManagement #QuestForZest

14.01.2022 Awesome time at the Moreton Bay Emergency Services Display today. Elliott’s hands down favourite was the mini ambulance he called ‘little’. Such a great way to engage kids with road and personal safety!

14.01.2022 Cool bird party or flocking disaster? Team dynamics are tough. Work forces people with different styles and preferences to coexist; sometimes peaceably... often not. In my Premium Birdwatching@Work Program I’ll share:... your bird species (DiSC style) how you can spot different ‘birds’ how you can adapt & build better relationships PM me to learn more and secure your spot in the live workshop NEXT WEEK!

12.01.2022 ‘ ?!?’ I’ve had so many managers bluster this at me over the years. The simple answer is yes.... People like praise. It makes us all feel good and, according to a Gallup study, it also makes us worker harder. In this week's #HotHRTips I'm delving into another one of Forbes’ Leadership Lessons from Psychology: ’ Productivity aside, there is another key benefit. Did you know people attribute the behaviours you choose to focus on back to you? Psychologists term it ‘Spontaneous Trait Transference’. Basically if all you ever focus on are people's negatives, your team will observe those exact negative traits in you & your behaviour. So, here are my #HotHRTips for spreading genuinely positive vibes: 1. Be specific with your thank yous 2. Look beyond obvious performance 3. Acknowledge your poor performers 4. Use external tools 5. Ask for help How do you provide meaningful praise at work? Let me know below! 12.01.2022 Mother’s Day can be a day of mixed emotions for many. I was very blessed to have started my day with cuddles, yellow roses and waffles, but it wasn’t so many years ago that this day was a day of intense pain and sadness for me. Whether today is a day of celebration, reflection or emotion for you, my love and thoughts are with you

11.01.2022 Another big week of wins to chuck on the #WinWall. What’s your favourite win from your last week? I have two:... 1) I had dinner with the most wonderful group of women on Monday. We connected online last year and we are all so incredibly supportive of each other. It was lovely to meet in real life! Thanks Carla Wall (ACMA, CGMA, CPA) for creating and incredible collective! 2) A long term JFA candidate got a job offer after a string of amazing interviews in the past fortnight. I’m so glad someone has finally seen their brilliant potential. Honestly doing this post every week fills me with so much energy. Seeing all the positive action and impact on a page is so motivating. Take 5m right now and reflect on the best bits of your last week. It’s a powerful exercise! #AttitudeOfGratitude #QuestForZest #ReflectionExercise #Motivation #PositiveThinking #CelebrateYourself

09.01.2022 Created by the talented Marc Fennell this 12m compilation brought me to tears multiple times this morning. https://soundcloud.com/marcfennell/2020-in-sound-not-final It’s difficult, poignant and brilliant.... It really hits home how tumultuous 2020 has been but leaves me feeling hopeful of better years to come. Grab a triple espresso or strongly brewed tea and a box of tissues and take a listen. #2020 #NewYearNewBeginnings #LessonsLearned

06.01.2022 Two weeks ago our kitchen tap sprung a leak. It was functional & had served us well for years; but time had taken it’s toll! We replaced it with a very nice tap far more in keeping our kitchen’s style. It looked shiny & amazing! But... When I glanced down, I noticed how shabby the sink now looked. I mean, it was fine. It was clean and there was no damage. It just looked ‘well-used’ next to the sparkly new addition. So I spent last weekend scrubbing the sink until it gleamed. And while it’s not immaculate, it’s more fit to stand next to the pretty new faucet! Ok Aesop, what’s the fable? Well, often when businesses launch new policies or processes, they launch the pretty new thing without scrubbing the stuff around it. At best the surrounding stuff looks shabby; at worst they’re completely contradictory. Loads of businesses have launched new policies this year, but haven’t had the time to give the policies or processes surrounding them a bit of spit & polish too. Thankfully I have my consulting Brillo pad at hand! & , ! PM me to book in a free call & let's chat about how I can turn drab to fab! #PolicyReview #ElbowGrease #PeopleBetter #BetterPeopleManagement #FreshStart2021 #ManagingBetter #PeoplePolicies #PeopleProcesses
