24.01.2022 This week is Infant Mental Health Awareness Week. Current research and thinking on infant mental health is certainly increasing in awareness around the significance of bonds formed early in life especially from birth to the age of three. Having previously worked in this area, it is often recognisable that the quality and nature of the early life experience can inform our styles of connecting with those close to us later on. Parents of newborns and very young children who m...ay be experiencing challenges could be well served by counselling around issues to bonding and support. To harness strength out of such tough times is a commendable achievement - something that CNN news anchor Zain Asher speaks about in this TED Talk. Ashers speech focuses on her journey to achieving her dream job, and why trusting her life struggles were a large part of her ability to persist. This is known as psychosomatic illness when your mental state affects your physical condition. Some conditions can include skin problems like eczema and psoriasis, high blood pressure and cardiovascular problems. 16.01.2022 Even though we may have regrets about our behaviour and circumstances in the past, we can view 2018 as a fresh slate. It can be an opportunity for change or improvement. Therapy is a tailor-made process to address your unique life challenges and situations. We need not remain defined by our past when our current choices can change our future. Therapy is a tool that can help you realise this and move forward with your outlook, especially if you are finding it difficult to move forward from situations that negatively affected you in the past.

13.01.2022 A lot of the stress and pressures we experience are driven by an irrational pursuit of perfection. Accepting our limitations can free us to be authentic and to realise who we really are. Often having some external input in the form of counselling can help us untangle.

13.01.2022 The only things about sadness that seem universally agreed upon are that it has been felt by most people all throughout time, and for thousands of years one of the best ways we have to deal with this difficult emotion is to articulate it; to try to express what feels inexpressible Watch this short TED-Ed animation that covers a brief history of melancholy. 10.01.2022 In an interesting pilot study conducted by the University of Queensland’s RECOVER Injury Research Centre, participants who have suffered whiplash and neck pain as a result of a traffic accident were treated with both physiotherapy and psychological counselling.
