18.01.2022 It’s #NAIDOCWeek2020 and here’s a tip to take a walk along the Brisbane River on the Lores Bonney walk where you will find beautiful artwork by Judy Watson and the names of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who lead the way for others. 15.01.2022 It hasn’t been a great week for the sisterhood now with the sad passing of Helen Reddy whose I Am Woman was THE feminist anthem for generations of women, now being rediscovered by a new generation. In the words of her children: She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge her voice will live forever.’ https://www.google.com.au//s/amp.abc.net./article/10496882

09.01.2022 Big shout out to our sisters across the Tasman for Suffrage Day, marking 19 September 1893 as the day New Zealand became the first nation in the world to grant women the right to vote. It’s an opportunity for individuals and organisations to celebrate New Zealand’s suffrage achievements and look for ways to make further progress to benefit women. It reminds us too of the women central to the fight for suffrage (and other rights for women) immortalised in this memorial located in Christchurch. Kate Sheppard, leader of the campaign, is shown at the forefront of the the group, which includes Meri Te Tai Mangakhia, Amey Daldy, Ada Wells, Harriet Morison and Helen Nicol.Susan Davies Sandra McLean Susan Hocking Mackie

08.01.2022 It’s not often you get invited into someone’s house for a Brisbane Festival WOW Australia event but it was a fitting place for Domesticity’s discussion to rethink housing and stem rising numbers of homelessness in older women. 03.01.2022 Domestic violence can leave women homeless. The rising tide of homelessness among older women is a parallel issue that needs a more effective government response. That’s why since 2019 Zonta Club of Brisbane has worked across its Queensland clubs to highlight the rising tide of homelessness in older women working together on the HOWzing campaign advocating for innovative housing solutions https://zontabrisbane.org.au/advocacy/ #empoweringwomen#orangetheworld#16daysofactivism#safehousing Zonta International District 22Sandy Venn-BrownZonta InternationalJan LoganSusan DaviesLaura BosSusan Hocking MackieTownsville ZontaLeneen FordeAnne LandsbergAnna Herbert
