19.01.2022 Our good friends from Santa Taranta will be doing some gigs in Brisbane soon including this one which we’ve arranged. It’s a free concert with an Italian music jam after. Food is great as well at Papa Rossi restaurant.

18.01.2022 One postiive to come out of this crazy time is that it has given Zumpa, the band, the chance to prepare its first recording! It's been an exciting time trying to coordinate 6 musicians to play from a rough guide track through to individual recording sessions. Our sound engineer has been none other the amazing André Bonetti, also nose flute playing extraordinaire percussionist. For our artwork we engaged the incredible skills of Dany Avanzini to prepare an original artwork por...traying the emotion of Italy. The album is called 'Sette Belli'... a little play on the most valuable card, the Sette Bello, in the Italian card game of Scopa. We have seven tracks with some original and classics included. We hope it will be out in September with the advent of springatimea. Look out for the album and launch events around Brisbane. It's been an absolute pleasure to be a part o...f this very talented and vibrant collection of Brisbane musicians - Benja King, Cristina Campo Di Stan, Gareth Mewesician, Innes Campbell and André Bonetti (also our recording engineer). It's been a 30 year journey since I started replaying the music from the 'old country'. My dad made me do it... since I was age 10. It's sad that he didn't make it to hear the fruits of his 'lavore'. This time we are gonna enjoy our Sunday afternoon with Zumpa, featuring: Da...vid De Santi accordion, Kristy Stanfield vocal and guitar, Benja King double bass and Andre Bonetti percussion and nose flute. They provide the sounds and energy of folk, gypsy and Italian world music. Be transported with this ensemble to forgotten fishing villages, moonlit olive groves, and a hard life under a hot sun where peasants play music to celebrate life with a fierce sense of humour.
