25.01.2022 Eat your heart out Chris and Liam - these are the new Hemsworth brothers! Neither are too keen on standing too close together though - when your brother is this good looking its probably best not to stand too close for a photo shoot!

24.01.2022 Krieger is finding his feet jumping as he preps for his first comp at Tooradin in a few weeks.

23.01.2022 Also at M3de was BJ aka BMS Katapult in the 4 year old young event horse. Nat Davies rode him superbly like the true professional she is. We are just so proud of BJ for getting out there in that really big atmosphere with crowds in the stands and taking it all in his stride. He placed 7th out of 12 perhaps a touch disappointing but the most important thing about these events is the experience it gives the babies!!! One day hopefully hell be following in soolis steel plates and out there for real!

22.01.2022 Thank goodness the lockdown didnt prevent rising 4 yr Maldon (aka BMS Saltimbocca) arriving around his new home. I cant help but think these two look particularly suited already! Maldon is by Ustinov xx out of solo 11 mare Sweetwood Solitaire. Welcome to the family Dave Carroll of Bendigo!!! Im tagging the other BMS team members, youll see that you are in excellent company lol! ... Dave wasnt actually in the market for a new horse when he was tagged into the sale post for Maldon. But he just couldnt stop going back and looking at the pics (sound familiar Mirriam?) One advantage to lockdown is that youll have plenty of time to start slowly and at your own pace. Im really looking forward to watching your journey.

21.01.2022 For the last 10years I have been the most fortunate breeder I know, to have had a person who has this much ability, dedication who embodies in her management of... our horses ideals that I can only strive for. If there is anyone I have ever met who deserves an opportunity like this more than Jenny does, I want to meet them!!! I have seen Jenny perform miracles with the athletes I breed!! Here is her application for the SAP Eventing Masterclass with Ingrid Klimke 2020. Dressage Masterclass #ridewithingrid2020 #ingridklimke2020

20.01.2022 Rachael and Spidie (BMS Sporacid) had a great couple of days at Woady dressage weekend putting in some solid performances. A fantastic start to the season!

20.01.2022 People breed for different reasons and anyone who imagines its to make money is dreaming. For me, the greatest joy is to watch my babies grow and when the time is right, find them the perfect home where not only do they get the chance to find out what they can do, they give a talented and dedicated rider a chance to do the same. BMS Armistice (Poppy) born on Remembrance Day is the last filly by BMS Armada (dec) I bred. She was a premium and national top 10 AWHA foal. ... Late last year she made the trek from VIC to WA to meet the partner that I spent years finding for her. Im thrilled to announce that Rachel Glossop, an extremely talented young event rider is that person. Having purchased for my daughter the pony Rachel trained herself and went through the PC ranks with, I knew she was the person I was looking for. Rachel has been riding Poppy for about a week now and it is clear the already they are forming a strong bond! It will be wonderful to have one of mine on the circuit in WA. Exciting times ahead!

20.01.2022 After a bad box start from a super fit over excited Sooli, they settled into a stunning run! For those lucky enough to have been there to share this with me, I hope this video brings back for you the wonderful memories it does for me! Riding vicariously through Jen is so much better thanks to Rider Video lol!

19.01.2022 Master of all he surveys - Krieger on a gentle hack in these comp free times.

17.01.2022 Clear with 5 time over a tough course!!! Mid field going into The SJ tomorrow. Sools and Jen nailed it!!!!! Woo hoo

17.01.2022 Baby Spider aka BMS Sporacid out at their very first comp! Rachael has had a long wait as Spidie as been doing so much growing that Rach has very wisely left him to grow rather than put stress on open knee joints. At rising five he is finally ready. I cant wait to follow these two on their journey!!!

14.01.2022 Everyone is back in for the new season baby BJ (pictured) is five now and life will start to get serious for him. Sooli has come back looking like a whale - shes got some serious holiday bulge to convert to be ready for Melbourne! And Krieger has been ticking on through summer also getting ready for a big year as an event horse. And its not just Jen out there this year, we have Rachael Feely and 5 yr old Spidie and Rachel Glossop in WA with 5yr old Poppy. Not to mention 4yr old Sassy with Miriam in Tasmania and Nicole with Osti in WA So, look out guys cause the BMS Trakehners will be out in force Alexeah, Katapult, Krieger, Ostinato, Samsara, Sporacid and Armistice.

14.01.2022 I’m so very excited to announce that gorgeous Maldon (BMS Saltimbocca) has been sold to a fabulous home in Bendigo. Dave Carrol is an established eventer who plans to consolidate Maldon’s flat work before jumping. This will be perfect for Maldon as he still has a great deal of growing to do. I’m thrilled to include Dave in the BMS family and can’t wait to watch these two grow together!

13.01.2022 One thing Ive learned in life so far is that the best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry and this has certainly been the case with my gorgeous stallion BMS Krieger. Three years ago Marvin Smink and I entered a partnership that we planned as a wonderful opportunity for Krieger to have a dressage career. Sadly for Krieger but happily for Marvin, Marvin now has an opportunity to ride at GP level and could no longer give Krieger the time he needs. We discussed selling him ...but Krieger is just too special to me to allow me to let go of control over his future. So, Ive purchased Marvins share, bought him back and given him to the rider I love and trust most in the world Jenny Bowker. Krieger will now learn to event, something that he showed huge potential for during his stallion licensing. The sad part about this is that Jenny has no capacity to keep a stallion. Krieger has consequently been gelded, tragic given the quality and temperament of his foals. Fortunately Kriegers frozen semen is more potent than many others stallions fresh and I have a life supply. Also, as a gelding he will have a happier life. He has been recovering from the op for the past month and is being shod Monday as the first step in his new career! He loves his work and his people so much I know he will blossom as a gelding soon to be out competing and revelling in the excitement of the atmosphere.

12.01.2022 Melb 3de young horse entry 5yr old Trakehner BMS Katapult ridden by Nat Davies

11.01.2022 Competitions might be off the agenda but sometimes it’s a wonderful thing to look back on where we were before the pandemic so we can focus on the future. Jen and BMS Krieger are using this time to further strengthen their partnership and train for the future. How great do these guys look!! So proud of Jen!!! Proud too of the rest of team Blackmores - recently described as a cult but perhaps more of a commune!

11.01.2022 For a decade Jen and I have shared the highs and lows of the eventing scene. Yesterday, for the first time, I got a call that in all that time Id been dreading. Fortunately given it was Jen herself calling it was less difficult that it otherwise may have been. Jen fell xc in the 2 star at Albury. Coming into a big oxer early on course Sools was too keen and arguing with Jen that she knew better. In the split second Jen decided to let her go - before realising that they ...were too long, had missed a stride and were too far out from the fence. A more sensible horse would probably have put the skids on but not our Sools. She sat herself back on her haunches and used everything she had to throw herself over. She made it but the shear force of the leap threw Jen onto Sools neck and as Sools galloped for the next fence Jen couldnt regain her position and down she went. Thank goodness horse and rider are both fine. Sools was clearly bewildered and found herself alone wondering what to do next. Fortunately Nat was close enough to call out her name at which Sooli whinnied and trotted over to her. Sools genuinely seemed overjoyed to see Jen when she made it back to the truck after a thorough check by the course medics. Hopefully next time shell be a little more accommodating when Jen asks her to wait - no Sools - you did not know better!!! A huge thank you to all the course officials and others who went in and helped!!!!!

11.01.2022 Beautiful BMS Samsara by Conjor Solaris. Samsara is a three quarter sister to BMS Alexeah, the two star event horse that everyone always says looks like a show pony! Certainly little sister Sassy looks the part!! So proud to see Sassy out and about with her wonderful owner Miriam!! Cant wait to see these two grow together.

10.01.2022 It seems like years but in fact its only about 8 months ago that green broken 5yr old Popstar (aka Poppy aka BMS Aremembrance) arrived in Perth to join Rachel and begin her journey into eventing. It hasnt been the best year to be starting a young horse but Rachel has been diligently chipping away. And what a wonderful job shes doing!!! Poppy is a bit too smart for her own good sometimes but Rachel has risen to the challenge and its clear that a strong partnership has developed! Hopefully theyll be able to get out and about before too long.

08.01.2022 Krieger is taking to his new life as a duck to water. Yesterday was his first time out at a protocol day. For a horse that was a serving stallion until only some 8 weeks ago he is travelling in the truck and doing all the things you would expect of a seasoned competitive gelding. Jen just adores him and is having so much fun with him, not a term I heard very often in the early days with Sooli! He has started jumping and loves it. Jen will be with me in Perth tonight and I have a feeling kriegers first comp will be up for discussion! Happy days

08.01.2022 Were all getting bored of Bowker being the star attraction all the time - so, time to mix it up a bit! Its been more than five years now since I came to know Rachael Feely and realised she is just the kind of person I wanted to be a part of team Blackmores. It has proven a long wait to get to the point where Rachael is out at her first comp with a BMS horse but its been worth every moment of it. Introducing BMS Sporacid by BMS Armada out of Solo 11 mare Sweetwood Solitu...de. Sporacid means jumping spider so its hardly a surprise that Spidie is his paddock name. They did the SARC at golden plains horse trials over the weekend. A sensational test saw them in second place after dressage, clear SJ and then knocked up a cricket score in time faults cruising around the xc (as i would hope 1st time out) to end up 13th. A perfect start to what I think is going to prove a very exciting partnership. This stunning pic from Felicity Clay says it all! Thank you Rachael, for all your hard work, the help you so generously given to me and the stud, I cant wait to watch the next 10 years evolve! On and, dont worry Jen - you know I could never possibly be really bored!!!!

07.01.2022 BMS Katapult superbly ridden by Nat to 3rd place in the EvA80 at Geelong.

07.01.2022 This morning in the hot wash after schooling - just a lovely photo

06.01.2022 Had a delightful visit to see 5yr old Poppy with Rachel Glossop yesterday. Im so thrilled to see her looking so good and coming into herself, shes finally showing why she was a premium AWHA classified foal. Rachel is doing a brilliant job with her and Im very confident that they will make an impression when they are ready to come out.

06.01.2022 Great weekend at Spring Horse Trials for team BMS. Both BMS Alexeah and BMS Katapult finished on their dressage scores. Sooli (Alexeah) won her 1 star class with baby BJ (Katapult) third in the 65cm. I just love this video, so green and legs eleven but he finds his stride and starts to look like he might make an eventer one day. Jen Bowker did a superb job with both of them as always!

06.01.2022 Sometimes the audio is even better than the pictures - Jen to Sooli "Youve GOT to listen Madame!" quote unquote. A fiesty but winning round in the 1 star at Spring horse Trials as first comp for the season. Better get ready Sools youre going back to 2 star next comp!

06.01.2022 How cool is it that even in lockdown technology can allow us to live our dreams. For many years Jen has followed her idol, dressage master coach Catherine Haddad. Yesterday she got to have a lesson. From the USA to Mornington via video and zoom. And yes, the lesson was everything and more that Jen imagined with Krieger softening to new levels under Catherine’s guidance. They are going back for more - exciting times!

05.01.2022 And yet more BMS spam... Rachael and Spidie (BMSSporacid) Ballarat Hickstead today coming 5th! Wonderful stuff, so proud!!

04.01.2022 Some stunning pics from Andrea Otto of Jenny and BMS Alexeah.

03.01.2022 While usually content for this page is reserved for horses I have bred myself and bear the BMS prefix, they are of course not the only horses of bred from my bloodlines. Meet GlenOwen Groovarmada, bred and owned by Edith Kane. Basil has just had his 5th birthday and is currently training for his first event at Seville. Basils dad is BMS Armada (dec) out of a warmblood mare. Edith is very taken with his easy going temperament and under Ediths expert hand he will have every opportunity to find his potential. Im fortunate indeed to have a youngster with a rider of Ediths caliber - cant wait to see these two progress!

03.01.2022 Not sure if there are any other International Velvet tragics out there but I quote the great Captain Johnson (a very young and hot Anthony Hopkins) when explaining what happened to the British Eventing team at qualifier at Ledyard in horrific weather conditions "the dressage was like someone trying to dance swan lake in cloggs in a bog". But in the movie the team went, they got through, perhaps not brilliantly but they showed they had what it would take to push on to the oly...mpics - where they triumphed of course! Team BMS may not be in the same league but nevertheless they had to put their big girl pants on and demonstrate that eventing is not a sport born of indoor arenas and cushioned surfaces - no room for princesses around here! Tominbuk had some serious weather challenges on the weekend, coming on the back of fires having destroyed the course requiring a total rebuild. The organisers showed the tenacity that got them back up from the fires and went ahead with a fantastic event that provided our BMS team with some invaluable experience that will help them long into the future. The new XC country course rode brilliantly im told and is now better than ever before. It was exciting for the team to get to try out a brand new course! Nat Davies managed a wonderful 8th place with Katapult in the 80cm. Jen, well not sure where she ended up but it was somewhere close to last in the 1 star. So again to quote Captain Johnson "Nothing to write home about but something to build on for the future"!

03.01.2022 5yr old BMS Katapult posing for the camera for Melb 3DE virtual young horse. Wonderful initiative to support riders to keep up their training when the usual schedule of comps is gone!

02.01.2022 A great day for Nat and BJ yesterday at MPPC dressage champs. A win and a fourth in a strong class. The winning test on 84% was even compromised when Beej spooked at a passing horse that let out a giant fart!

02.01.2022 Im so very excited to announce that gorgeous Maldon (BMS Saltimbocca) has been sold to a fabulous home in Bendigo. Dave Carrol is an established eventer who plans to consolidate Maldons flat work before jumping. This will be perfect for Maldon as he still has a great deal of growing to do. Im thrilled to include Dave in the BMS family and cant wait to watch these two grow together!

02.01.2022 A big day for team Blackmores, Jen and BMS Krieger at Tooradin today. Its Kriegers first horsetrials, first big comp. Given hes still only jumped under saddle less than 10 times and was only gelded in August, it says a lot that a horse that was so recently a working stallion can go out and make us proud in a big atmosphere! Second after dressage (heard a rumour that the horse that placed first is a GP horse) and a clear SJ. We withdrew from the XC simply because with Jen having three at present we just havent had a chance to put enough miles under his belt. After today however we know hes ready for Woady! He was entered under little brother Katapults name as we werent sure if wed get him far enough in time. Cant wait til the two go out together next next year!

01.01.2022 Well, we came we saw and in our own way, we conquered! Jen and Sooli (BMS Alexeah) did their first M3DE in the 2 star. It was a weekend radically changing emotions the whole way through. Soolis showed all the determination we have come to love her so much for. She did a solid test for 26th out of the 79 strong class. A brilliant XC though the 5 time penalties really hurt pulling them to 42nd place but who cares about time penalties when its a first at this level. An un...lucky comedy of errors during the warm-up to the SJ meant Sools was a bit rattled in the ring, pulling an uncharacteristic 3 rails to finally rest on 41st. Thank you so much to all the organisers of such an incredible, international standard event! The XC course was brilliant asking serious questions through complex lines. Thank you to all the friends and supporters who turned up to help and cheer on the team. It was an event I will treasure the memory of all my days.

01.01.2022 It was a big weekend for team BMS at Geelong Horsetrials. Alexeah dropped back to 1 star for the first comp of the season finishing on her dressage score for 5th. Katapult and Krieger were in the same 80 class for Kriegers first complete Horsetrials. Krieger held first place going into the xc but there his green-ness showed and Jen nursed him around racking up a cricket score - totally fine for a first run and lots of really good moments to build on. Katapult had to take second fiddle in the dressage, 9 places behind his brother for 10th but he stayed on his score, ridden superbly by Nat to bring home the white ribbon. An excellent start to the season for all three!

01.01.2022 From the dressage horse that we thought might pass out from shock the first time he was asked to work outside the indoor in the rain to the eventer jumping clear in a horizontal downpour in just a few short months. Krieger bringing home a blue ribbon at Torradin Combined Training Day this morning. A great start to what is sure to be an excitig year for these two!
