25.01.2022 Today is World Kindess Day. We see acts of kindness in our libraries every day, and here is a beautiful story from Panania Library. The day had just begun at Panania Library. There were only a few people in the library. A lady who is a regular visitor to the library often asks staff to help her with small stuff she can’t manage herself on her mobile phone.... Today she was wanting to get some help with recharging her mobile phone. She approached the library staff for help. She needed a credit card to pay for the recharge. But the lady did not have one. Another member in the library heard this conversation and came over offering her own credit card and that the lady could just pay her the cash. Then she learned that the first lady did not know her phone number to put the recharge on. So the second lady rang the first lady's son and asked her to text his mum’s phone number to her so she could help her to recharge. This helpful patron had just come in with her granddaughter to read some books. She helped this other lady with recharging her phone, stored the device phone number to her contacts list and left with a smile. Such acts of kindness when seen in our community are unforgettable. Have you seen any acts of kindness recently?

21.01.2022 Meet Wendy. In her own words, this is what Canterbury-Bankstown Libraries means to her: "It is great to know that the staff know how to download ebooks onto USBs, so that I can read the books, as I am unable to use my hands to turn pages. I can now use SmartNav to access my books on my PC. This allows me to do the things I love to do, and takes me to places that I love, such as France I am even able to get ebooks in French! This access boosts me up and relaxes me. The libra...ry staff are able to seek out the books and movies that I love to read and watch, and are always on hand to help with any technology questions. The new library is wheelchair friendly with ramps and lots of space." Become an Antarctic explorer by heading to the World Geography & Culture database. There are interesting articles, news reports and lots of super cool (get it?) images and videos! http://online.infobaselearning.com/Direct.aspx Antarctica Day falls on the anniversary of the adoption ...of the Antarctic Treaty, which took place on 1 December 1959. The Treaty has been a hallmark of international cooperation on the icy continent for well over half a century. Its success in promoting international cooperation on scientific endeavour and preventing conflict in the region is widely recognised. https://www.antarctica.gov.au/ See more

Chocolates or sweets, flowers found on staff desk Fresh veges too! Supporting one another when asked Purchasing coffee from Library Café to support our local business. Also, they would remember the usual order: Café Latte! Even spelt it right too, lol Has someone been kind to you at work recently?
