You can opt to transfer your existing registration: we will retain your 2020 registration fee with no additional charges applied (even if you turn 18 prior to the event), and you can remain in the same section even if you are no longer eligible at the time of the event. 22.01.2022 UPDATE: The 2020 Doeberl Cup will proceed as scheduled on 9-13 April. As a number of public events are being cancelled due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) outbreak, we would like to assure our attendees that the 2020 Doeberl Cup will go ahead as scheduled next month. At the time of writing, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Canberra or the Australian Capital Territory.... Remember: Good hygiene is key. Cover your nose and mouth when sneezing/coughing, avoid touching your face, and wash your hands frequently! A full update including rule amendments will be posted to the Doeberl Cup website this week.

14.01.2022 Dear Doeberl Cup player, supporter or spectator: It is with great regret that the ACT Chess Association is cancelling the O2C Doeberl Cup for 2020. With the Australian Government announcing restrictions on overseas travellers to Australia, and the request to avoid large non-essential gatherings, we have decided that the Doeberl Cup cannot proceed under these conditions. We sincerely apologise to anyone who has already committed to taking part in this tournament, and ask anyon...e who has suffered financial inconvenience as a result of our decision to contact us immediately ([email protected]). 11.01.2022 Passing The Baton: With time, comes change. Many of you will be familiar with members of the organising team from O2C Solutions who have dedicated the past twelve years to developing and delivering the Doeberl Cup event: Head Organiser Charles Bishop, Silent Partner and biannual attendee Steve Rohan-Jones, Prize Money Wrangler Lara Bishop, and Registrations Manager/Graphic Design Lead/occasional videographer Nyssa Zelman. It is with some small sadness, but an overall strong... sense of satisfaction, that we hand over ongoing management of the Doeberl Cup to the ACT Chess Association - ACTCA, with Shaun Press as Head Organiser and Alana Chibnall stepping up into the role of Chief Arbiter. In order to make the transition as smooth as possible the O2C team will continue managing the registration process and website, as well as providing sponsorship for the event venue. Our thanks go to everyone who has given their time and support to the Doeberl Cup over the years. As the event has grown, we have all grown together and now it is time for the Doeberl Cup to pass into new hands. Shaun, Alana, and the ACTCA team over to you.
10.01.2022 The O2C Doeberl Cup is BACK! The ACT Chess Association is pleased (and cautiously optimistic) to announce that the 2021 Doeberl Cup will proceed on 1-5 April, at the Canberra Southern Cross Club Woden. We are now accepting registrations. This has been a challenging year, and the 2021 Doeberl Cup will not be a "business as usual" event. We must contend with a changing situation, COVID-Safe directives and limitations on international arrivals. Your patience with the organising ...team during this process is appreciated. 04.01.2022 Friends, these are strange times we now live in. At this point in the year we would be welcoming our overseas players, finalising equipment lists and getting ready to announce the draw, but the current situation means that -for the first time in its history- Australias longest running weekend chess event cannot go ahead. It saddens us that we will not see you over the coming Easter weekend, but all of us must do our part to help flatten the curve and reduce the risk of commu...nity transmission. By staying apart, we are staying safe and protecting the health of those close to us. Remember to look after yourselves, and each other. Social distancing can be a lonely experience meeting up for a game might not be possible, but a chat or video call can make all the difference. We will be processing the last of the refunds in the coming week. All refunds will be processed by transaction reversal unless you advise that the card is no longer valid. If your card is now invalid or you wish to nominate to transfer your registration to the 2021 Doeberl Cup, please contact us this week either by Facebook messaging or email [email protected].
