25.01.2022 Well due to La Nina, I decided to skip all the stress of the Novermber/December wind. That's one reason I cut back late. Starting to climb now. Should look pretty full in a few weeks. Some large side shoots already. Happy with the progress so far since it's inky really getting warm now. Cheers Stu

24.01.2022 Wow...71mm of rain so far in May. This is why we don't need to water our hops with run off from the washing machine...spring water is how our hops thrive! Guaranteed no heavy metal impregnated hops!!! ;) 100mm coming later this week. Looks like I'm prepping the driveway drainage again!! Can you call it the hills if your land and driveway is dead flat? I'm not sure that's the definition of 'Hills'? We like our hills, valleys, creeks ... rivers, trees, grassland, and rain at fresh hops coop! 19.01.2022 Some amazing Centennial flowers this year from the main farm. The bar tender said the picking crew all stank like hops! About a month and there will be an intense harvest ale coming from Smiling Samoyed Brewery! Stayed for lunch again. The food and beer just keep getting better and better! ... 17.01.2022 Market garden trials are into their final stage. Learning heaps from diversification in crops. As apposed to just growing the 1 type of plant. Hops jas also taught us a lot about crop quality. Its a big cycle sustainable horticulture, and im loving the challenges of getting our standards high enough to get brewers raving about our hops. 17.01.2022 I knew this summer would be bad. Have not done to badly here with fires or drought...yet. However I have made the hard decision not to run masterclasses in 2020. For me it's morally and ethically wrong to promote and encourage people to grow hops on a large scale right now. After seeing so many farms/dreams burn across Australia with months of fire season to go. I'm really sorry everyone it just doesn't feel right this season. We are still hoping to do a few harvest ales wi...th some local breweries. They all need help in the Adelaide hills. Tourism has taken a huge dive. Their margins are already that that huge paying massive amounts of tax on the product that helped Australia become Australia! Hops for beer production. James Squires what, did he steal hops for bread making did he? Every dollar you spend on beer in Australia, 42 cents goes to the federal government. We all know they only care about their budget too! :'(

14.01.2022 Jakes Gold has just been released. This is an heirloom Golding variety found, saved and propagated by us. It was discovered by Jake Evans in 2016(hence Jakes Gold)in the river in our local area. Most probably what Rockford was growing around the Mylor township in the early 1900s. Jake will be getting a cut of all these sales. Strong growing plants, they flower ok about in par with what ive seen Saaz do. Amazingly aromatic with a very strobg herbal and peppery aroma. You wont... get a crop like a Chinook but youll also never get any other hops like this. Its grom a time before breeding programs, massive hops farms, chemical agriculture and even machine assisted agriculture. 05.01.2022 When the neighbours cut all their trees out...which was all the shade for the market trials paddock. Then you wonder if maybe they dont think you're crazy...or they're just keen to grow their own potatoes etc. Game on...warmest flattest paddock within 10kms...now its even warmer <3 the veg will help more with oxygen than the trees couldve!
