24.01.2022 MATES in Mining is here for all workers in the mining industry but as we approach ANZAC Day, we would particularly like to acknowledge all those who have served in the Australian or New Zealand Defence Forces. This ANZAC Day will be very different but we can all still pay our respects. 18.01.2022 Paul Peckitt of Redpath Mining Contractors and Engineers is taking on a personal challenge to raise funds for MATES in Mining! On the 4th December, Paul is taking on a SOLO 79km walk in 24 hrs from Toogoolawah to Wulkuraka Train Station with a few stops along the way (check out the map). Paul says that, 'These are tough times and it has been a roller coaster year for a lot of people, not just in Australia but the whole world has been affected. For me this walk is to give back.... Knowing that I made a difference.' Normally MATES in Mining has a strong turnout on the Kokoda Trek which Paul had considered joining, but of course this has been cancelled this year. And that's what makes this challenge so amazing - still showing the spirit of Kokoda and looking out for your MATES!
