24.01.2022 Spotting tuck handstands in our Sunday class. Kicking or hopping up into a handstand is something the body needs to get used to. One way to overcome the brains confusion or fear is to practice against a wall, another is to use a spotter. A good way to spot is to position yourself so that you can catch the persons back against your thigh if they go over, or catch them by the legs or hips with your hands, if they go under. From here, you can help them find the right position w...hile getting used to being upside down. Happy hopping

22.01.2022 Bar + Lever + Planche = unBarLeverble Planche Tim & Alex doing some things

21.01.2022 Our boy Khoa repping it out at our Sunday class. Ring Dips are a great way to build strength and stability in your chest, triceps and shoulders. Start high, with your arms straight... bend elbows and lower down til your upper arm is at 90 degrees Extend your arms to push yourself back up At the top of the movement try to turn your elbows out Control the movement and maintain stability by engaging through your core and keeping your legs together. Happy dipping

21.01.2022 Do you even warm up? Too many injuries occur as a consequence of insufficient warm up. Get your body temperature up, and get your joints and muscles prepared before you undertake any serious training. Your body will thank you :D

19.01.2022 Immense team pride for Ed who represented Melbourne and the MBO team at the Street Workout battles this weekend at the Aus Fitness Show, where he took third place. Here are a couple sets from his battles Whole weekend was inspiring. So proud of everyone who showed up to support MBO, nurture the Calisthenics scene in Melbourne and witness the power that came from all over: united, inspired and epic. More dope footage to come

17.01.2022 A common challenge when learning back lever is gaining the body awareness to find that sweet horizontal line. Filming yourself or using a partner to spot you will help you understand where your body is, in order to make maximum gainzzz Heres MJ finding her line with a sweet one leg back lever - a useful progression toward full back lever.

15.01.2022 @mbo.creepytimmy setting the bars on fire at the @ausfitnessshow with @kdoz93 and @mbo.alexg Mad hype.

15.01.2022 The inverted deadilft is great for building strength, compression, and proprioception (body awareness). If you havent tried this before you may feel uncomfortable being upside down or have trouble with the body awareness and activation required. Trust your body and get a spotter if you can. From an upside down/candlestick position, try to lower your hips down while maintaining compression and balance... stop when your torso is parallel to the ground reverse the movement, drawing your feet towards the sky You can perform this on a bar or on rings (shown here), rings will be easier. You can regress to a tuck ( also shown here) while getting used to the movement. Get it

14.01.2022 We Are Melbourne! @melbournebarologists

11.01.2022 Joe, beating everyone at max L-sit hold at the end of a session How to L-Sit: 1. Hang on a bar 2. Sit like an L... L-sits are a great exercise to help build strength in the core and hip flexors. They can be performed on a horizontal bar, parallel bars, or on the floor. Try to engage at the hip while maintaining straight arms and keeping your shoulders open. Legs should be straight and close together. The static engagement will burn, but the gains will be worth it. How long can you hold?

11.01.2022 Tim in the gym.

10.01.2022 Tim showing us that immense static strength does not translate directly to other sports.

06.01.2022 Melbourne Barologists is launching an online school of bodyweight workout programs accessible by web and mobile app! We had planned to launch this at Arnold but instead well be launching it online and to friends for now. The link below is where anyone can subscribe. The cost is $20per month but for now weve discounted it to $15 per month and the code MBO5OFF will bring it down to $10per month.... Right now the School of Barology contains a comprehensive warm-up library and our 12 week Cali Complete program. Rest assured this isnt a quick COVID-19 inspired profiteering exercise. We have invested significant time and energy into this throughout 2019 designing, testing, and making this a complete home workout solution, admittedly, it is timely.. Every exercise has instructions, video demonstrations, and suggestions for progressions and regressions. Members will also be able to message all of us as trainers about any topic, and discuss in-app with the community at large! Well constantly be adding more programs and content to the school with home workout and full body HIIT workouts next on the list. If you or anyone you know is interested please check it out or let them know. Well be creating more programs to cover home workouts, weight loss, Cali skills and more . If you are interested, get started here or shoot us a message with any questions <3 melbournebarologists.com/school
