24.01.2022 See Pauls raw honest confronting yet profound statement on the realities of the industries that can get away with systemic violence and oppression of others.

24.01.2022 Another mountain has gone. This native forest logging coupe is 77 hectares and it faces the little country town of Warburton. The women of Warburton have been trying to stop this, zoom into see us in the middle on the road. - Sarah Rees & the Women of Warburton

24.01.2022 The arrival of the Europeans came with it agricultural colonisation of this continent- this introduced new predators, caused (and continues) mass extinction of species and hooved animals, who hardened the soil and changed the extent to which rain is absorbed or runs off the surface of the land. The beef industry was - and still is, in some states - directly responsible for a very high percentage of deforestation. Farming doesnt sustain the land, it ruins it. It is an extract...ive industry that has gobbled up thousands of years of sustenance in a few generations of sustained plunder. If you're unsure about the religion of agriculture in Australia, then read Bruce Pascoe's Dark Emu. Take for example, Thomas Brinkworth, a pastoral farming magnate who owns close to 100 hectares of agricultural property (or to put rightfully, stolen land) is a repeat offender, he's been convicted and charged on multiple counts for clearing protected SA land (subject to heritage agreement). This demonstrates a consistent pattern of land theft, which dates back to 1788. https://www.aussiefarms.org.au//202-the-environmental-crim

24.01.2022 Opportunity to learn about forest activism, such as in logging coupes where precious old growth trees and forest habitats are being decimated, all without consent from traditional owners

24.01.2022 Earlier today.. enough is enough. No consent was ever given

23.01.2022 FB indicates this event ends at 6pm today but we won't stop doing our bit - we encourage you to do the same (esp. during covid!). Lookout for #CleanYoStreet 2

21.01.2022 FYI - Judge found Victorian state owned logging corporation failed to comply with the precautionary principle relating to conservation of the environment. VicForests had insufficient regard to high quality greater glider habitat, the presence of greater gliders in areas it planned to log, and to the additional pressures greater gliders were facing due to bushfires.

20.01.2022 Co-ordinated protests across Victoria yesterday stopped logging at logging coupes at Mount Cole, Baw Baw, Toolangi, Big Pat's Creek, Cambarville, Lakes Entrance and Noojee, operated by state-owned timber company VicForests. The protesters used a variety of tactics, including tree-sits, walking into coupes, and in one case locking themselves to machinery. #StopLoggingCountry #LoggingIsCriminal #ClimateEmergency #NoConsent https://www.abc.net.au//traditional-owners-join-l/12337292

20.01.2022 The Siberian Arctic (like the Arctic as a whole) is seeing rapidly increasing temperatures as a result of human-caused global warming. This is in part because of accelerating feedback loops between melting snow and ice and air and ground temperatures, as well as other features of the regions climate. Such as the proliferation of large wildfires from Siberia to Alaska and Scandinavia; where permafrost melts, releasing even more planet warming greenhouse gases into the atmosphere; and sea ice extent and thickness are plummeting. Refer UN Climate Change on Twitter: Temperatures reached +38C within the Arctic Circle this Saturday, 30C hotter than normal. Global Heating is accelerating, some parts of the world are heating a lot faster than others. https://twitter.com/UNFCCC/status/1274789406914772992?s=20

18.01.2022 "The Australian farmed animal sector uses sophisticated marketing and public relations techniques in an effort to gain support on environmental grounds and to overcome negative perceptions of its dramatic impacts. It is essential to see the reality and ignore the marketing spin." said veteran environmental campaigner Paul Mahony https://planetaryvegan.net//ecosystem-decline-and-th/amp/

16.01.2022 In this video Dayaal takes us through the litter he found this morning, it is dissappointing to see more cigarette packets. #cleanyostreet

16.01.2022 THIS IS WHY LOGGING IS CRIMINAL IN A CLIMATE EMERGENCY. The findings of four peer-reviewed, published scientific studies from four institutions in six years, and of multiple scientific reviews show increased flammability begins in the first 10 years after logging or fire and continues for about another 30 years, depending on forest type. https://www.theage.com.au//logging-and-severe-fire-both-ma

16.01.2022 "Natural areas are just so important to our physical and mental and spiritual health", said local legend Paul Prentice, and litter co-ordinator of 25 years. https://www.theage.com.au//merri-creek-pristine-as-locals-

16.01.2022 This is a great move by the NZ Education Ministry! The question is, when will our schools and government do the same? Industries that contribute to environmental degradation must be called out, it's simple as that. https://amp.sbs.com.au//5737df9d-cb57-4ad8-84cc-a32bf00a91

15.01.2022 While farming animals once served a purpose, its time to admit that we, as a civilization, have outgrown the dated notion of using animals to produce meat. "In 2020, we need to be brutally honest with ourselves. We cant keep doing this. wrote Dr. Liz Specht, associate director of science and technology, the Good Food Institute. https://sentientmedia.org/covid-19-exposes-flaws-in-animal/

14.01.2022 The documentaries listed explore the disproportionate impacts of climate change on the health and wellbeing of indigenous communities, people of colour and economically disadvantaged individuals. Several films shared intimate stories of people who have lost, or will soon lose, their homes and customs to rising seas and oil and gas activities and petrochemical development.. #ClimateJustice https://www.ecowatch.com/best-new-climate-documentaries-264

13.01.2022 Opportunity next week to learn more about the situation with logging, and about getting active.

12.01.2022 The Takeout team has put together an informative film companion booklet (currently available in English but will soon be translated into other languages). Link to PDF here https://www.takeoutdocumentary.com/free-booklet Deforestation is a cross-border issue both in its causes and effects. Dirty supply chains are crippling the Amazon as part of a wave of trade-driven deforestation that has caused violent displacement in forest communities & indigenous peoples, loss of biodiversity and huge emissions of greenhouse gases. Experts see Amazonian deforestation as a major barrier to achieving international climate change goals.

11.01.2022 Instead of implementing monocultures, veganic farming employs polyculture techniques using a variety of plants in the same area to coexist and work with one another. The vast majority of veganic farming uses no-till practices as well as companion planting to maintain garden insect balance and avoid the need for pesticides. Sustainability and soil regeneration is at the heart of veganic farming. https://awellfedworld.org//climate-is/farming-for-climate/

11.01.2022 Being in lockdown, we can be more attentive of our food waste footprint https://www.bbc.com//20200224-how-cutting-your-food-waste-

11.01.2022 Mount Cole is the only place in the west of the state where destructive clearfell logging occurs. This will in fact destroy the amenity and ambience of the long-term community asset the Beeripmo Walk, not to mention the impact on threatened species such as the rare Mount Cole Grevillea a spectacular flowering shrub entirely restricted to the Mount Cole Range, where it occupies an extremely narrow and rapidly declining area (It was officially listed as a threatened species under the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act, recognised as being vulnerable to logging). http://vnpa.org.au/mount-cole-still-on-the-chopping-block/
