15.01.2022 Dear Parents/Carers, We are looking forward to all our students returning to school on Monday morning. Despite the concerning Corona Virus number increases in Melbourne, here in South Gippsland we do not have any active cases. So parents can be reassured that provided our school community follow Stay Safe and Healthy Guidelines set by the Department of Health and Human Services our school continues to remain a safe place for our students to learn. We will ensure our school re...mains safe by: 1. Any unwell student/staff or parent are required to stay home and get tested. 2. All staff are required to practice social distancing amongst adults and follow room limits throughout the school. 3. All staff/students and visitors to the school are encouraged to wash hands/use hand sanitizer that is provided throughout the school. 4. Throughout the Term the extra sanitizing will continue throughout the day. 5. Only essential workers are allowed onsite to minimize risk. 6. Parents are requested to drop and pick up their children at the front entrance whilst practicing social distancing. If you choose to keep your child at home, the school is not obligated to provide remote learning activities unless medical advice supports the need for your child to stay at home. School bus operations are running as normal on Monday. They too have enhanced cleaning processes in place to ensure that buses are sanitized following every run. We all look forward to seeing the students on Monday. Together We Grow. Heather Braden Principal

15.01.2022 Dear parents and carers, There are two helpful new resources to help you support your children during remote and flexible learning. Raising Learners podcast The Department of Education and Training has funded a 10-episode podcast series through the Raising Children Network called Raising Learners. It features parenting experts from organisations including the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, Career Education Association Victoria, as well as the Australian eSafety Comm...issioner, Julie Inman-Grant. Raising Learners provides parents with practical advice, tips and ideas for supporting childrens health, wellbeing and engagement at school and at home. Topics include how to connect with your childs school and community, how to best support your childs learning, what to expect for VCE and VCAL students and how to keep your child safe online. These topics were drawn from common questions that parents raised with the Departments coronavirus (COVID-19) hotline and Parentline. The first three episodes will be available on 1 September, and the rest throughout terms 3 and 4. Raising Learners can be accessed via podcast apps and Raising Children Network website. Managing the Coronacoaster webinar Renowned child psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg is back by popular demand to repeat his Coronacoaster webinar. 14.01.2022 On Friday the school was informed of a Gippsland Southern Health worker who is part of the disability care program tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. We have been informed that after contact tracing, none of our students have been in close contact with the carer. This is a timely reminder to understand that we all need to remain vigilant and follow the rules of social distancing and practice good hygiene. Sorry the news letter didnt get out. It will be done on Monday. Take care, stay safe Heather Braden Together We Grow

07.01.2022 Some good news to end the week A number of families have asked, Can I take my child for a drive to help support complex behaviour during stage 4 restriction...s? The answer is yes! Under the stay at home directions you can leave home and take your child for a drive to escape harm, including harm to themselves. This is under the care and compassionate grounds and it includes leaving the 5km zone and going out during curfew. You will need to have evidence of your childs behaviour support needs, such as an NDIS plan with behaviour support or a letter from a therapist or GP. Its important to use common sense and remember that this should only be done to escape harm and to help support complex behaviour. If you do take your child for a drive, do not stop anywhere unless essential and do not leave metropolitan Melbourne. To stop the spread of COVID-19, please stay home whenever possible. Thank you to the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services for getting this information to us so quickly.

04.01.2022 Are you the parent/guardian of a child with disability who does, has done, or has tried to do gymnastics? Researchers from the The University of Melbourne invi...te parents/guardians of children and young people with disability (under age 25) to take part in a research study. Parents will be eligible if their child: has participated in gymnastics (including currently) in the last three years has tried to participate in gymnastics but did not end up doing so in the last three years. We are interested in: How families of children with disability get involved in or find out about gymnastics Factors that make it harder and easier to get involved in and/or continue participating in gymnastics Participating in this research involves filling out a 15-minute online survey. At the end of the survey there will also be given the option to choose whether they would like to express interest in participating in a 30-minute follow up interview via phone or video chat. For more information and a link to the survey: https://bit.ly/30oD0AJ For more information please contact the responsible researcher Dr Rachel Toovey on [email protected] or 0483098902
