This pose strengthens and grounds your legs and hips, brings length to your spine, aids digestion, opens your shoulders and expands your chest. When you twist one hip will naturally move forward, so without forcing see if you can draw it back. Try out these variations: - One hand on top of thigh and the other back of sacrum - Hands in prayer with elbows outside of knee... - Extending arms with bottom hand reaching to ground and top arm to sky - Reaching top arm overhead for a side body stretch - Pick up opposite foot to test your balance - Bind arms around the inside leg and try to transition into Bird of Paradise - Bind legs like eagle pose PLUS bind arms over the top leg for a serious pretzel shape! 22.01.2022 With the recent new cases in Brisbane we want to let you know that we are doing everything to keep the studio COVID-Safe. To help us we just need a few things from you to help keep our space safe and open for everybody. We ask that you: - Sanitise hands at the front desk on arrival. ... - Bring your own mat. We are suspending mat hire, and have mats available at the studio for purchase if you do not own one. - Bolsters are only to be used if you bring a full-sized towel or blanket to cover the whole bolster. A face towel or a jumper is not acceptable. - Roll your mat back from a white line. - Wipe down the area around your mat with the gym wipes, especially after hot classes. - Blocks, resistance bands and hand weights are still available for use and must be thoroughly wiped down after use. - We encourage for you to bring your own props where possible. - Lockers are to be wiped down inside and also outside if used. - If you notice that the wipe dispenser is empty please let your teacher know.

20.01.2022 EYE OF THE NEEDLE | SUPTA KAPOTASANA Guys, we did it. We made it to the end of 2020. And what better way to end the year with a pose that has us lying down on our backs like we deserve! Eye of the Needle Pose also known as Reclined Pigeon Pose is an awesome pose to open up the hamstrings, quads and stretch out the hips. Get all the benefits of a deep stretch without putting too much effort in. If you need a little more draw the knee closer in towards you as you push the opposite thigh away from you using the help of your elbow. If you need a little less, loosen the grip. Easy breezy!

19.01.2022 Because were so excited that the studio is open again, we are making this heart opening our pose of the month! Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana) is a staple in every yoga class as it strengthens, rejuvenates and increases the flexibility of the spine and also stretches and opens the abdomen, chest, lungs and shoulders. The biggest thing is to not overdo the backbend. To find the height at which you can work comfortably and avoid straining your back, start by taking your hands off th...e floor for a moment in a Baby Cobra. This is a great way to help strengthen the muscles in the mid-back before moving into the full version of the pose. Placing your elbows down in Sphinx Pose is always a great option too if you find Cobra too much for your low back. If youre particularly bendy try King Cobra by bending your knees and touching your toes to your head! Striking Cobra is also a fun variation where you bend the elbows and bring the fingertips out to the sides to press up and lift through the chest. 17.01.2022 PYRAMID POSE FOR SEPTEMBER Were welcoming the change of season with Pyramid Pose as our Pose of the Month for September. Its also known as Intense Side Stretch Pose with Parsva meaning side or flank, and Uttana implies an intense stretch. The name of this asana refers to a pose that stretches the side of the chest intensely. Theres lots of fun variations of this pose. Hands can stay on hips, or you can try joining your palms together behind your back in reverse prayer or h...olding opposite elbows. You can also reach the hands to the ground and use blocks if they dont quite get there. Try making it deeper by extending the arms forward without laying on top of the thigh, or reaching the arms backwards to the back heel. If youre feeling spicy try lift the back foot off the ground for a balance like a tripod! This is a great pose to transition into poses like Revolved Triangle Pose & Revolved Half Moon Pose. As per government guidelines masks are now mandatory and are required to be worn in the studio for both teachers and clients from 1am Tuesday 29th June until further notice. Restrictions will be reviewed on Tuesday 13th of July. We take time to reflect on the first half of the year by acknowledging what we are grateful for, and recognising any residues that need to be released so we can create space for new light and love to come into our lives. 10.01.2022 Stage 3 is effective from 12pm Friday 3rd of July! We are so excited for this because it allows us to go back to full capacity, which means that you dont have to book into Yoga, Mat Pilates or Barre classes anymore, woohoo! From tomorrow afternoon you can simply just turn up to the studio like you did before. We ask that you still come a little bit earlier to secure a spot though as first in is first served. You will need to roll your mat back from a white line to keep socia...lly distanced, and Barre will be increased to 4 students per barre. As we are only allowed 50 people into the studio at one time, you may still have to wait outside if there is a class beforehand. More good news is that we will be transitioning some props back for use. We still encourage bringing your own, and we just ask that you give any props a good wipe down after you use them. For Yin and VinYin classes please bring a towel or a pillow case that you can place over a bolster so you can get super comfy and cozy again! 01.01.2022 To celebrate Reformer Pilates coming to our Toowong studio weve made Side Leg Lift our Pose of the Month for August! This movement strengthens the buttocks & legs, stabilises the core, and elongates the obliques. You can start this exercise by either lying completely on your side and stacking the ankles, knees, hips and shoulders on top of each other, or bending the bottom leg for a bit more stability. You can also start from a kneeling position with the bottom hand under th...e shoulder and the opposite leg out long. On an inhale raise the leg to hip height with the foot pointed keeping the hips nice and stable, making sure to not let the hips tilt forward or back. On an exhale flex the foot to lower the leg. In Reformer Pilates you can leave the leg up at hip height and reach the top arm with a strap to the ceiling stacking the shoulders and then bring the palm down to the side of the leg. In Yoga you can play with a flow from Gate Pose leaning to one side and then a side leg lift on the other side.
