17.01.2022 HELP! One of our beloved karracks (cockatoo) is missing from its perch! These birds were commissioned by the Aboriginal Heritage Reference Group as part of the Yurlman project in 2017. Noongar elders and youth engraved each feather as a memory of the event.... They are of great value to the Noongar community as they commemorate a very special event in our recent history. If you have any information relating to the whereabouts of the bird, please email or call the Museum: 9841 4844 or [email protected]

15.01.2022 We are excited to share this short video highlighting our walk on boodja with Menang guides Vernice Gillies and Larry Blight. We explored the northern shores of Oyster Harbour in Kinjarling (Albany) during the warming season djilba (August-September). We shared morning tea and stories of Noongar culture, local wildlife, bush food and medicines, and artefacts for preparing food. Today, resident yoon do da (osprey) keep a close eye on harbour fish stocks as they live, nest and ...hunt around and the 6,000 year old mungah (fishtraps). These Menang structures stand testament to powerful rhythms of life around coastal boodja and the rich values of this tranquil and timeless meeting place. Heartfelt thanks to the Great Southern Science Council, Kurrah Mia, National Science Week 2020 with Australian Government Inspiring Australia, Inspiring Western Australia, WA Inspiring Australia Regional Hub Network, and Green Man Media Productions.
