25.01.2022 Happy New Year!! #HappyNewYear #1HRC #Rovers #RoversAustralia

21.01.2022 'To celebrate Friday the 13th the crew ordered some spooky masks, but a clerical error meant we ordered a pamper kit instead. A Scout doesn't waste, so we spent the night relaxing and pampering ourselves instead. #1HRC #Rovers #HurstvilleRovers #Scouts #beautynight #IsitJasonOrisitDwight

20.01.2022 This past month Hurstville have been socially active but physically distant . We brushed up on our knot skills for our squire training, knot that it was hard. We bowled our way to glory. We got shown how to terminate a powerpoint, and learnt how to be the next Fatboy Slim ... #1HRC #Rovers #RoversAustralia #AmIpunnyyet

19.01.2022 Hurstville has proudly supported the community by continuing with the annual tradition of donating blood for the Rover Plasma Challenge which this year has gone national! #RoverPlasmaChallenge #Rovers #1HRC #HurstvilleRovers

19.01.2022 https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au//19347-hurstville-ro The Push Up Challenge is currently in progress with 8 of the Hurstville crews members pushing up for better and raising awareness of mental health issues in the community. Over 21 days we will be completing 3046 push ups. This number represents the number of Australians we lost to suicide in 2018.... All money raised goes to Headspace, an organisation working to strengthen the mental health and wellbeing of young Australians. Feel free to check up on our progress over the next few days. #ThePushUpChallenge #Headspace #Scouts #HurstvilleRovers #Rovers #1HRC

18.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them... #ANZACDAY #lestweforget #lightupthedawn #Scouts #HurstvilleRovers #Rovers #1HRC

17.01.2022 'We continued our return to face-to-face Rovers by playing the JackBox games we played when we first went to Scouting@Home! Although we were still physically distant, we had a great time playing some games and hanging out' #Rovers #HurstvilleRovers #1HRC #Scouts #Scouting@Home

12.01.2022 Introducing Louise, our PR and Activities officer! Hello! I am Louise and I joined the Scouting movement in 2008 with 2nd Abbotsford which is a sea Scout group and was there for a few years. Before I joined Hurstville I never really knew what I wanted from my time in Scouting up until last year when I took the time to reflect on what I wanted to achieve with my last 2 years in Rovering and have really come to appreciate the ample opportunities that Scouting and the Rover sect...ion offers. My favourite moment in Rovering: Getting to know and enjoying my new crew and having the opportunity to always meet new people and learn new skills. Despite the fact that it did not go to plan, I really enjoyed my time at CBR Moot and got to experience my first national Moot! My time on my expedition will always go down as one of my favorite moments of Rovering as we all bonded so well and enjoyed ourselves despite only being able to sail 3 times and being indoors so much due to the poor air quality. Random fact to tell people: I can make a really bizarre whistling noise and I have no clue how I do it. \_()_/ #1HRC #Rovers #HurstvilleRovers #Scouts #sailawaysailawaysailaway

09.01.2022 This past May the crew has been keeping active and not letting isolation get in the way of having fun. Most of the crew participated in the Push Up Challenge with 2684 push ups completed!! We're all a little proud and just a bit fitter and a bit wiser about mental health from the daily information the Challenge provided to us. The lack of our weekly tradition of going to our local drinking spot left us recreating our own pub feed and reminiscing in the good ol' days.... We had a nostalgia night where we read our favorite picture books to each other. Much like a secret Santa, we had a Rover Box challenge where we bought items which we thought our Rover might like! #Rovers #HurstvilleRovers #Scouts #1HRC

09.01.2022 This October is Mental Health Month and this year we are being encouraged to 'Tune In' to ourselves and those around us. One in five (20%) Australians aged 16-85 experience a mental illness in any year. The most common mental illnesses are depressive, anxiety and substance use disorder. ... To seek professional help for yourself, for a family member or a friend, a good place to start is with your GP who will be able to begin an assessment and recommend appropriate treatment. Some self-care tips: Spend 30 minutes looking at the clouds and afterwards reflect on what you noticed Sketch a flower Learn 3 new words you haven't heard before and use them in conversation Listen to a podcast while going for a walk Read 5 pages of a book you haven't picked up in a while Lifeline: 13 11 14 Kids Helpline: 1800 55 1800 Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636 MensLine: 1300 78 99 78 #1HRC #Rovers #RoversAustralia #MentalHealthMonth

08.01.2022 We put our creative caps on and had our own Great Hurstville Bake Off! #Rovers #HurstvilleRovers #1HRC #Scouts

06.01.2022 This year our Treasurer is Brad Jones! A little blurb about yourself. I've been in scouts for over 20 years. I did Joey's through to Scouts at Lucas Heights group, before moving to Canberra and finishing scouts. I then went onto Venturers at Birralee Venturers, and helped start Bethungra Rovers in North ACT. I moved back to Sydney and joined Hurstville Rovers last year. I love camping, hiking and the outdoors. I make a mean Spinach and Cheese Cob Loaf, and in my spare time I ...review random peoples fridges. Your favourite moment in Rovering so far? I have too many favourite moments so far in Rovering to name just one. Some would have to be the moments I met and grew relationships with some of my best friends. The annual Mt Bimberri summit hike. Winning the DJ comp at Groovin' The Moot. Running the H.E.A.T expedition at CBR Moot. There are so many I'm forgetting and I'm sure so many more to come! Is a hot dog a sandwich, and why? A hot dog is not a sandwich, it's a hot dog. We don't call burgers sandwiches, nor do we call kebabs sandwiches. They are there own thing. While they have similarities, they differentiate themselves enough to be seperate. Unfortunately there is a movement out there of people who continue to let this conversation live. These are the same people that think a Chicken Parmigiana is called a 'Parma' and who think sauce goes in the fridge rather than the cupboard. Don't be like them, accept the truth and move on. What is the random fact that you tell people when they want to know a random fact? When the first Star Wars came out, France was still executing people with a guillotine If you were ever stranded on a deserted island and could only have one book with you, what would it be? I never find I have the time to sit down and read a book, and I haven't really read some of the books that became huge successes so it would be a weird opportunity. Probably 'A song of Ice and Fire's by George R.R. Martin or one of the Harry Potter series. #1HRC #Rovers #HurstvilleRovers #Scouts

06.01.2022 While we all continue to social isolate some of the crew has not let social distancing get in the way of getting things done. Cora delivered "Guiding at Home" kits to all of her Guides which was a lovely idea Also isn't her doggy Coco adorable?! Since all the gyms have closed Jack has been improvising with anything he has at home to continue staying fit and has been doing a a great job! Louise has gotten back to her bookworm self and is 2 books down in her reading challeng...e for this year and may or may not be going slowly nuts trying to color in this one page..! #aScoutisprepared #Scouts #HurstvilleRovers #Rovers #1HRC

01.01.2022 This weekend our own Lauren, Brad and Louise attended P.A.W Patrol's first YMHFA course since Covid began and learnt all about mental health first aid and how to assist. We are passionate about mental health and helping our mates when we can, understanding it better and making mental health less scary to be openly discussed. A big thank you to Grace and Harry for providing this course!... #RoversNSWPAWPatrol #HurstvilleRovers #1HRC #Rovers #MentalHealth
