25.01.2022 Our Sylvia and Harry Hoffman Hall was transformed for the 2020 Kindy Portfolio last night, with incredible art installations to view and beautiful welcoming picnic rugs laid out for families to share. There was not a dry eye in the house (not even for the teachers) as our beautiful Kindies shined brightly on the stage, ably performing several songs, in both English and Hebrew, before sharing precious time on their picnic rugs with their families, going through the expertly curated Portfolios. Mazal tov to Jaxon and his family who won the artwork raffle! We are all very envious! Well done Kindy stars, we are so proud of you!

25.01.2022 Morah Posner sets her alarm five minutes before the end of her Torah Enrichment class because she knows students will always ask to sing ‘just one more’ of her songs! Throughout the class, our Year 6 students choose and sing their favourite songs about the Torah. Here’s another one for you to enjoy!

23.01.2022 Our Year 3s enjoyed an exciting morning at Scitech on Thursday 19 November exploring activities in the general exhibition area then continuing on to the planetarium. Here they viewed the show Tilt which explores why the tilt of the earth is so important, as well as the topics of day and night and the Earth’s seasons.

22.01.2022 In one of the most anticipated online lessons of the year, last Friday our Year 9s connected with the Prime Minister, The Hon. Scott Morrison MP, who delivered an update and Q&A session on politics. The questions posed covered topics as broad as climate change, how young people can make a difference, women in politics, the impact of Coronavirus, tax cuts and inspirational books or films the PM has enjoyed. We thank Vince Connelly MP and his team for setting up this opportunity, together with Mrs Russell, for our students! https://youtu.be/1xG3hSi0zL0

21.01.2022 Recently ten students from Carmel’s new Robotics Club competed in the RoboCup Junior WA competition. Two Year 8 teams competed in the rescue challenge, designing and coding a robot to navigate to a chemical spill, rescue the victim and then manoeuvre outside of the chemical spill. One Year 7 team competed in the onstage performance which involved designing, building and programing a robot to perform to music. As first time competitors, the students did very well. Team ‘Brick Bots’ - Jordan R, Asher R and Naftali R - were worthy finalists!

20.01.2022 One more sneak peek of our Addams Family rehearsals as we head into the weekend! It's so great to see so many Year 6s taking part. We can't wait til showtime next year!

19.01.2022 The Year 2s worked very hard to create their very own Art Exhibition and were so excited to share it with their families and show off everything they have learnt in art this year. What a special way to end 2020! Mazal tov Year 2s!

18.01.2022 There are lots of opportunities for learning outside of the classroom (as well as inside) in Carmel Prep! Sometimes these learning opportunities come via 'interruptions' to the day, such as when some stick insects came to play and when the resident bobtail sneaks into the sunshine for a recharge. We love using these 'interruptions' as an opportunity to learn new facts about the world around us. Did you know stick insects can change colour as they shed and only need peppermint or eucalyptus leaves to survive? #elcspotlight

17.01.2022 Carmel High School commemorates the 25th anniversary of Yitzhak Rabin's assassination. Thank you to Habo Dror and Bnei Akiva for organising activities and the ceremony for the students. May his memory be a blessing - a blessing of shalom, peace.

16.01.2022 After watching an inspiring video about Caine’s Arcade the Year 5 students were challenged to create their own game to share with the rest of the Primary School students. They collaborated and created their designs from cardboard, then painted, decorated and decided on their advertising strategies. On Tuesday 3 November they shared their cardboard arcade with the rest of the Primary School, who loved it!

15.01.2022 Last week, our Visual and Performing Arts students delighted audiences with their creativity and original artworks. There were many amazing digital media pieces displayed, one of which was a fantastic music video by Year 11 Jacob P, starring Year 7 Sacha R. We hope you like it as much as we did: https://youtu.be/YruyKc9dCwM!

15.01.2022 Towards the end of Term 3 our Primary School cross country runners took part in the interschool IPSHA Carnival at John XXIII College. Our own Gidon S placed fourth in the Year 5 boys' division - out of a field of some 70 athletes - running a very strategic race. Mazal tov to Gidon and the rest of the cross country team for their participation and dedication to training on the Maccabi and Breckler ovals before the event.

15.01.2022 Friday 30 October was World Teachers’ Day and at Carmel Primary all the teachers received Merit Awards composed by their own students! Kindy student Dan L put... his hand into a hat and drew out the winning Mensch Award winner, Maayan S of Year 4.1. Mazal tov to Maayan and thanks to our amazing teachers for working so hard for Carmel students every day! See more

12.01.2022 Last week, our Year 5s visited the Swan Valley Adventure Centre for team building activities. Each team was given an egg to protect throughout the visit and every group task rewarded students with objects needed to build a standing catapult. The catapult was used in the final challenge, to sling their egg into ‘new life’. Two new records were made by the Year 5 teams and one of the catapulted eggs was saved with a brave catch by our very own Liam! Kol hakavod to our Year 5s - we look forward to seeing their team skills in action as Year 6 leaders in 2021.

12.01.2022 Kovi L, Raphael R, Daniel L, Ezra and Aaron L represented Carmel School at the State Chess League finals. This dedicated group trained exceptionally hard and played their best, ending up finishing in third place. We are so proud of our chess team! Thank you to Nikki Resnick and Shai Levin who assisted on the day.

12.01.2022 While the PM was in lockdown he wanted to use his time to engage with one school in each electorate. So today our Carmel Year 9s had a Zoom conversation with Scomo! We are proud of our students who asked thoughtful, insightful questions and had a stimulating 45-minute discussion with our Prime Minister. Stay tuned for more photos and footage.

11.01.2022 Menora Charity Fund Inc came to the School this week to pick up the amazing donations of toys, books and games for the Sunshine Menora Packs. The Year 3s have been collecting these up from generous families and were so pleased to be able to gift them. Well done Year 3s!

09.01.2022 The change in weather provides some beautiful opportunities to create a still life masterpiece! #elcspotlight

09.01.2022 Our Year 3s are busy collecting new toys and stationery for Menora Charity Fund Inc Chanukah sunshine packs. They have been amazed by the generosity of the children and parents in our Primary School. Please continue to donate - see boxes at the front office for more info!

08.01.2022 Morah Debbie Posner, who has been at Carmel Primary School since 1999 (21 years!) and runs the Primary School’s amazing Torah Enrichment Program, will be profiled in our final Kesher of the year due out on 10 December. Not only does Morah Posner’s love of all things Torah shine from her, but it’s clear she transmits that enthusiasm to her students. This is a snippet of the Year 6 Torah Enrichment class choosing and then singing some of their favourite Morah Posner memory aid songs.

08.01.2022 Our grateful thanks to Maccabi Chess Club for their donation of new chess books and a demonstration chess board to Carmel Primary's Sylvia and Harry Hoffman Library. We know that these items will be well used by our active and enthusiastic Chess Club members - and hope they inspire more students to dive in to the exciting world of chess!

08.01.2022 John Winters, co-founder and CEO of Superhero, a new online ASX share trading app (touted as Australia’s cheapest online trading platform) was kind enough to send a message of encouragement and support to our Entrepreneur Program students recently. You will experience many hard lessons if you start your own business; failure is one of them. You need to own it. It is a lesson and you need to learn from that lesson and don't do it again, John says. How cool failure is integral to success! Read more about John and his links to Carmel School in our final Kesher of the year on 10 December.

07.01.2022 Sometimes, the simplest activities bring the most creativity and joy. Recently, our Kindies created beautiful artworks with nothing more than spinifex, charcoal and light! #elcspotlight

06.01.2022 Pens down, that's a wrap! Well done to all our Year 12s on completing your WACE exams! Please take some time to relax and enjoy your freedom, knowing you have given it your all in such a tricky year. We know the wait for results can be painful, but we are already so proud of you all and your achievements. Kol Hakavod! And don't forget, we're here for you in December when the results come out, if you have any questions and want to pop in for a chat.

05.01.2022 As well as being named 2020 Dux of Carmel School, Asher A won a string of other awards at Valedictory this year while also captaining Teveria House and leading it to ultimate success in winning the 2020 House Shield. Asher’s also just a nice guy! Despite having his head down in preparation for Year 12 exams, he found time to answer our questions. Read Asher's Q&A in the Secondary School section of tomorrow's Kesher.

05.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be an entrepreneur? The lucky Year 10 cohort got to experience exactly what it’s like to be an App designer, influencer and general entrepreneur from the likes of Gabby Leibovich (Founder of Catch) in their special program activity yesterday! The day started with a short introduction from Carmel’s resident entrepreneurship educator, Miss Lee, before the students participated in two awesome workshops run by BOP industries, all the way ...from Brisbane via Zoom. In the afternoon, WA cricketer and coach turned legendary entrepreneur, Aaron Lily from Swinga, came to share his experience with patenting and distributing his great new product. Perhaps, we can get Aaron back for a cricket match against Quelchy another time! Lastly, they tried their hand at being rookie mining business owners and got the opportunity to virtually hear from Gabby, John Winters and Sage Mellet! What a day! See more

05.01.2022 On Sunday the 1st of November, the Year 10 cohort honoured the Holocaust survivors of Perth by presenting their individual stories a part of the Living Historians Project. The stories of Heiny Ellert, Ken Arkwright, Rivka Majteles, Fryda Grynberg, Oskar Eherenfeld, Hetty Verolme and Ruth Landau Harp were all showcased in the High School library. The survivors’ families along with parents and staff of Carmel all attended the exhibition on Sunday afternoon followed by a light t...ea. Much effort went into each project, from slide shows to beautiful artwork and all the stories represented were touching and inspiring. The Year 10s were very privileged to hear the experiences and journeys of the survivors and will not forget their messages. We are so grateful to them for sharing their stories that are sure to be passed down to future generations. Jake R and Rebecca S See more

02.01.2022 Just in time for NAIDOC Week, our Kindies have completed their incredible collaborative artwork, inspired by the Indigenous season of Kambarang. The idea for the artwork came following their excursion to Kings Park, where they viewed the beautiful, emerging colours of Spring. Back in the classroom, our Kindies looked at different Indigenous artworks and were further inspired by the idea of dot painting. The giant canvas provided the opportunity for everyone to get involved, p...lus it allowed for a whole body workout - stretching, bending, crouching, crossing mid-line and, of course, working those fine motor skills! In the later stages of painting, students were invited to lie on a bench, placed strategically across the artwork, and added to the piece without fear of smudging. This certainly engaged the core muscles! The end result is phenomenal! What an experience for our lucky Kindies, and what talent they have! #elcspotlight See more
