The colours on this info graph show the intensity that I was working at while doing a stationary bike workout in my garage. The red section is all the time spent >90% of my maxHR, yellow is 80-89%. .... For heart and cardiovascular health it is recommended that you work between 50-85% maxHR. 19.01.2022 Goal Setting! Crucial for achievement! . I dont know about everyone but I train far better when I have something that Im actually working towards. For me exercise goals, like my current one to ride on the MSWA Ocean Ride, is if far greater benefit to me that just saying that I want to lose weight. But why? The Ocean Ride has a fixed date to be completed, making it part of the SMART goals as it is specific, measurable and has a time frame. There is still enough time for me... to train for it making it achievable. And its relevant to me simply because I want to do it. Funny little perk that often goes along with exercise goals.... weight loss. Since Ive started cycling again over the last 5 weeks Ive lost over 3kgs... Follow along our join me on the exercise journey. ~ Tab

11.01.2022 What is Osteoarthritis (OA)? OA is referring to the degeneration of the cartilage in specific joints. Throughout life there will be some degeneration, however specific factors may increase or decrease this degenerative rate. As the cartilage breaks down more, pain can be elicited at the site of the specific joints. ... So where does exercise come in? Strength training and movement can actually assist with pain response to OA. Building up the surrounding structures of the joint to have less pressure on the cartilage and thus less reduced amounts of pain. There are some exercises which we would encourage to avoid such as jolting or jumping movements. For more information about preferred exercises, please come talk to one of our Exercise Physiologists.

07.01.2022 Today was my last ride before my 70km ride as part of the MSWA Ocean Ride this Sunday. . I decided on a semi-whim that I'd accept the free entry into the ride as it would give me a training goal to work towards. I haven't really had a training goal since I was training for the RKC Iron Maiden Challenge in (maybe) 2013. I do not train well without goals and simply having a goal of 'weight loss' isn't a big enough driver for me so this was a great opportunity for me to refocus... in my health (and not just study). . This journey has been fun and over the last 13weeks I have gone from 91kg --> 82.2kg. . And to continue the good habits, I've registered for the 3 Dams Challenge in March next year . If what you're doing isn't working for you, maybe try changing the goal and make a new plan. .
