There are many active things that we can do to help our mental health. These activities help to decrease our fight/flight system and instead activate our rest/digest system, help to clear the mind of racing stressful thoughts, help decrease headaches and migraines, help us sleep better, help boost our immune system due to less stress and help us feel better overall due to less stress/anxiety. The most effective activities include: meditation, mindfulness (being fully present in the moment and not thinking about anything past or future), yoga, exercise (particularly combined with mindfulness) and breathing exercises. These practices are best to do regularly and if you are going through a harder time, increase them as you feel you need.
