07.01.2022 If you have a ducted air conditioning system with a number of zones & at night you only turn on Master Bedroom zone (one outlet) you arent reducing the amount of power it uses but you will cause problems with your system. The unit is sized to air condition a certain percentage of your home at one time and by only having airflow from one outlet there is a good chance you will blow the duct off the back of the outlet. Generally with a ducted system you will need to have enough zones turned on so that at least half of the total number of outlets through your house have airflow.

You will need to replace all the duct & outlets as r/c air conditioning use smaller duct & outlets than evaps. Outlets for evaps are installed near doorways and airflow is pushed out windows, outlets for r/c aircon are installed near windows and the air flows back to the return air grille generally located in a hallway. If you leave outlets near doorways with r/c aircon your rooms wont cool as well because the air wont be flowing through the room it will be going straight out the door to the return air grille.
