24.01.2022 A 20-year-old Fadden man and a 24-year-old Gordon man will both face court this morning for separate driving offences. The 20-year-old man was stopped by police in an unregistered VW Golf, displaying number plates of another vehicle. The man admitted he had been disqualified from driving at court yesterday. The 24-year-old man was detected speeding at 120km/h in an 80km/h zone. He was also the subject of an outstanding warrant, and was arrested.

24.01.2022 Did you witness a road rage incident in Palmerston about 9.55am on Friday, 27 November? A black Lexus and a red Holden were travelling on Gungahlin Drive, before the two men driving the vehicles stopped at the intersection of Kosciuszko Avenue and The Valley Avenue and engaged in a confrontation. It is alleged one of the men assaulted the other.



23.01.2022 Have you seen missing 64-year-old man Michael Ketley? Michael was last seen leaving a house in Hawker in January 2018. At the time, he stated he was headed to New South Wales or Queensland. He has not been seen or heard from since. While it was not out of character for Michael to be uncontactable for long periods, he was reported missing by family in December 2020. Police have conducted significant enquiries, however Michael still has not been located.... Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 131 444, quoting reference number 6695252.

23.01.2022 Around 7.45pm yesterday, ACT Policing assisted ACT Fire & Rescue in responding to reports of a fire at a home in Kambah. Sadly, a 70-year-old woman died inside the house and a 74-year-old man was taken to hospital. The cause of the fire is not yet known but at this time there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. Police are continuing the investigation and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.... We ask you to please carefully consider your comments before posting.

23.01.2022 Police have charged two men following a nail gun attack at a residence in Taylor on Saturday. They're expected to face court this morning.

23.01.2022 Did you witness an assault at the lights at Northbourne Ave and Antill St, Dickson on Thursday afternoon? ACT Policing is seeking witnesses after a 30-year-old man was assaulted by two men at the intersection. The two men are believed to have left the area in a silver Ford Falcon and green Hyundai sedan. 22.01.2022 ACT Policing’s COVID-19 Taskforce is being bolstered with support from the ACT State Emergency Service. ACTSES volunteers from tomorrow will begin work with police, to speak with people undertaking home and hotel quarantine. At the moment there are more than 2800 people in quarantine and in the past few weeks police have been conducting approximately 1500 compliance checks weekly.

17.01.2022 ACT Policing seized two vehicles yesterday for dangerous driving endangering members of the public. Police closed the northern end of Lonsdale Street in Braddon last night to disperse a growing crowd, before a large crowd gathered in Fyshwick where vehicles began doing burnouts. Police seized two of the vehicles and stopped others from entering the area. A large group of people then gathered in Hume, where a firework was set off in a service station.

16.01.2022 Over the weekend, two drivers had their cars seized after being caught street racing on Canberra Avenue. Police also detected 92 speeding drivers, seven driving unregistered, three driving uninsured and two for disobeying a stop sign. More than 670 roadside breath tests were also conducted, with seven drivers returning a positive screen for alcohol.

16.01.2022 Two men were arrested on the weekend for stealing cars in separate incidents. A 49-year-old man from Oaks Estate was arrested after police received a report that a vehicle had been stolen by a man armed with a pair of scissors. A 29-year-old Kambah man was arrested at Canberra Airport as he prepared to board a flight. Police allege he stole a car belonging to an acquaintance by stealing the keys from her while she was sleeping.

15.01.2022 A 25-year-old Holt man and a 21-year-old Fisher woman will both face court today charged with vehicle and theft offences. Police will allege the pair were involved in the theft of a grey Tesla from the basement of a Braddon apartment complex around 6.45am on Thursday, 22 October 2020.

14.01.2022 A 33-year-old Richardson man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today on an attempted murder charge. The man was wanted by ACT Policing in relation to a stabbing incident that occurred in Gowrie on 1 October 2020. He was arrested in Bridgewater, Tasmania by Tasmania Police on Thursday before appearing in the Hobart Magistrates Court where his extradition to the ACT was granted. 13.01.2022 Two people have had their licences suspended after being charged with drink driving on Friday night. A 25-year-old Kambah woman on a provisional licence recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.085 in Gungahlin. A 29-year-old Bonner man returned a reading of 0.199 in the same car a short time later. 13.01.2022 ACT Policing and the Australian Defence Force are continuing to work closely with ACT Government hotel quarantine arrangements for people returning from overseas. Police have conducted 774 COVID-19 quarantine checks in the past week.

12.01.2022 Are your licence and registration details up to date? In addition to a focus on drink and drug driving this festive season, police will also be on the lookout for unregistered and unlicenced motorists. Between January and October this year, ACT Policing handed out 1,056 fines to drivers of unregistered vehicles almost twice as many as the whole of 2019 as well as 1,052 fines to unlicenced drivers.

12.01.2022 ACT Policing continued its enforcement over the weekend ensuring motorists were compliant with Public Health Directions. Police stopped 1,916 vehicles, four people were directed into quarantine while eight people will follow up with ACT Health.

11.01.2022 It’s been one year since the remains of missing 40-year-old Canberra man Nathan Booth were found in the Murrumbidgee River, and police are still searching for answers. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and death, and particularly seek information about his last movements before he went missing in June 2019. 11.01.2022 Have you seen missing 14-year-old girl Kyah Barrett. Kyah has not been seen or heard from since Saturday, 31 October 2020, and was reported missing today. 11.01.2022 A motorbike travelling at more than 130km/h, a fully loaded semi-trailer powering through a red light, and almost 700 roadside breath tests added up to a busy weekend for Road Policing officers. A Sutton man was fined $1,841 and received six demerit points after his motorbike was detected travelling at 132km/h in a 80km/h stretch of the Barton Highway on Friday night. On Thursday, a Moncrieff man was issued an infringement notice after his fully loaded B-double truck failed to stop at a red light on the Federal Highway.

10.01.2022 Did you witness a police pursuit involving a white Toyota sedan in Ngunnawal last night? The driver ran a red light at the intersection of Gundaroo Drive and Mirrabei Drive where it collided with a white Kia hatchback. The offender then failed to stop at the scene. The vehicle was later located in Taylor and officers initiated a pursuit at low speed due to the vehicle having lost a wheel. The driver then fled on foot.

09.01.2022 ACT Policing is continuing to build on its work with support agencies across a two-day operation to keep victims of family violence safe and make offenders accountable. In the third operation in 2020, ACT Policing’s Family Violence Unit, the Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS), Child and Youth Protection Services and Victims Support ACT will provide victim-survivors of family violence with support and intervention. Officers will also be speaking to recidivist offenders. 08.01.2022 ACT Policing is seeking witnesses and victims following a number of physical assaults in Civic on Sunday morning. The assaults took place on East Row, City Walk, Garema Place, and Petrie Plaza between 10am and 12pm. Police are urging anyone who was assaulted or who witnessed these incidents to come forward.

07.01.2022 ACT Policing and partner agencies visited 55 residences during a family violence intervention operation over the weekend. One person was arrested for a breach of bail and six family violence orders were served.

After the deaths of two motorcyclists in Canberra in recent weeks, our traffic focus for March is vulnerable road users.
